Great bookstore, open for pick up (order online/call) during quarantine!

Open during quarantine for pick up! Just call to place an order. They seem to have a good selection - I was happy that they had the new book I wanted, which had just came out. The owner left a nice note on my bag, which put a smile on my face during this crazy time. Definitely plan on returning when the store officially reopens!

What a great experience. The bookstore is just the right size. Its not overwhelming and there is something for everyone. The kids section is quaint and has a great variety. The diversity in such a small space is awesome. The books range in all prices and they offer many gift options as well. The customer service was so sweet and welcoming. Especially when compared to the big book stores that you have to look for a desk or a person to help you and maybe they will. The sales person told us they where offering a sale today and at the end of the purchase she offered a free gift book... Yay!! the free gift book was price was greater than my purchase :) yessssss and she gifted me a cute pen. I was so impressed with the personable service and the warm feeling of the employees of this store.. Reminds me of what bookstores where like some time ago... The prices of books are going up but the customer service is going down... but not here at Booktowne... highly recommend it.

Maybe there was and I missed it? This "bookstore " is in the Collingswood flea market so I understand and enough said. However, I bought 8 ( on was a set of 4 small, thin books in a sleeve) 8 childrens books that cost me 15.00 dollar. I was shocked but I didn't say anything. I should have asked how much each was I think, so my bad. I then took a look at the little alcove he has with all kinds of books that were well arranged. There I saw a sign that said 5.00 for each book. Now, there were hardbacks in really good shape, there were trade paperbacks in really good shape mostly, and then there were mass paperbacks. I'm found one hardcover that I really wanted and one trade paperback. I realized that I could buy both online at thriftbooks for most like less with no shipping cos, so I left. Maybe consider doing a price scale? if I hadn't just paid 15.00 for 8 children's books that I will be setting outside on Halloween for kids hat either can't have candy or would just like a fun book for free, I probably would have bought the books I wanted. Instead I left and I won be back.

They didn't have the specific book I was looking for on my last visit but I still left with a mystery "Blind Date with a Book" book! Wrapped up and only giving me a tease of what it's about and only $5. Very excited to add this to my book-loving mom's gifts this year. The store has a variety of books, some new and some classics. I also love checking out their book club section on the far right wall for some recs for future reading. The team that was working that day let me know that almost everyone you see in store is a volunteer & that they host lots of events over the course of the year.

Considering there are not many large-format retail book stores left (I think B&N is really the only…read moreone), and just in general not as many book stores nowadays, I usually try to swing into one when I'm close by. You never know what you'll find or learn, which is part of the precious experience of exploring a book store. Also book stores have in some ways replaced stationary stores which used to be more common when people actually wrote physical notes/letters/cards to each other. (In some ways that's good to produce less paper waste, though that's an all together different conversation for a different time). Anyways, this is a fairly large B&N, with book categorized by subjects in each section. They have a good-sized children's section and aside from books and stationary, they carry games, toys, some manga and comics as well. Their periodicals section is unparalleled in today's digital age, so always interesting to peruse these for something different. The Starbucks inside is considered a separate entity from other regular SBs so you can't use your SB card or rewards here. Employees seemed to be helpful tho I didn't have much interaction tbh. Overall the store was very organized and clean, I wished I had a little more time to spend here!

Well, I…read morecorrected that oversight last Sunday, and I still love it as much as I did when I was in college. I love bookstores, and NYC has lots of great ones. But the Strand Bookstore might be the best? It's a classic. It's the largest independent bookstore in the city, carrying 2.5 million used, new, and rare books (their tag line - "18 Miles of Books" refers to the fact that the shelf space in the store supposedly stretches over 18 miles)! Plenty of people just shop front their discount racks outside the sidewalk (where all books are $3-7) and then pop in just to pay. But the inside is incredible. More books than almost any bookstore I've ever been to. Still family-owned, over 100 years old, and with an emphasis on bookseller recommendations, it's just an excellent bookstore. When I stopped by on Sunday, I made it past about four tables and end displays - new fiction, signed books, and employee recommendations - about 50 feet into the store. I already had six books in my hands and decided I better leave quickly before I had a problem! Despite the size of the store and the number of shoppers, the line to check out was short and quick. With friendly customer service to boot. It's simply one of the best bookstores in the city. Maybe in the country, too?! Definitely check it out.
