I must have driven by Dan's shop a million times until I finally stopped by back in March. I hadn't collected comic books since I was a kid and I never had enough money to be that serious about it all those years ago. So when this middle-aged dad finally ended up in the store I wasn't sure what to expect from Boom Tube Comics. I knew bits and pieces from a lot of pop culture and just my own casual interest over the years, but still, I thought trying to get back into comic books would be confusing and intimidating. I'm happy to say that it turned out to be exactly the opposite. Dan has created the kind of comic shop in Boom Tube Comics that I think every fan or collector hopes to find. From my very first visit, he made me feel welcome, never talked down to me, and was incredibly patient in explaining how comics and his store works. He's a wealth of information too, from subscriptions and FOC dates, to special series, blind bags, conventions, etc. No matter what your level of knowledge is, he meets you where you are and seems to genuinely enjoy helping people learn more about the hobby. Dan's always happy to talk about local artists, comic book history, recommend an interesting/popular book, point out books you might otherwise overlook, and even suggest trustworthy online resources if you want to learn more about collecting or comic history. You never feel rushed, pressured, or like you're asking a "dumb" question. The man has patience for miles! On top of that, Dan has a terrific sense of humor that makes every visit enjoyable. It's the kind of place where you stop in for a few books and end up spending extra time just talking comics or cracking jokes and getting sucked into whatever is piquing your interest that week. His prices are fair for key issues and incentive covers, his customer service is exceptional (Shout out to his wife Karen, appreciate all you do too!). If you're hunting for an older issue, he's happy to check his back catalog to see if he has it. Subscribers are treated like royalty, he bags and boards books, slaps a discount on for you, and goes out of his way to make sure subscribers receive the best copies. He has a lot of gratitude for his regular customers/subscribers and it really shows that he wants them to have a premium, yet still classic, comic shop experience. The shop also has an excellent selection of toys, collectibles, and nostalgic items that make browsing as much fun as shopping. This a great TOY STORE TOO! I wasn't sure about diving back into comics in some ways, but Dan made it super easy and fun. If you're a longtime collector, someone returning to the hobby like me, a complete beginner, it doesn't matter. I truly can't recommend Boom Tube Comics highly enough. Don't try to shift the blame to me. I was never delinquent picking up my pull list other then when I decided to stop patronizing your store. "Constantly asked for exceptions to store policies" is a load of crap and you know it. Don't lie, Dan. I was never anything but a loyal customer. If you want to air out grievances here on this public forum, I can gladly do so. Why don't you talk about how miserable you are and how it reflects in your customer service? A few other reviewers seem to have the same thoughts about that. When someone walks in the door it's a toss up if you'll get Harvey or Two-Face. Most of the time it's the latter. Or should we discuss how you put RFK Jr. campaign flyers in your customers' bags and then badger them about his policies? Or how a simple question about moving turns into a political debate with you? How about how you allow a gaggle of idiots to stand around your store cursing while children are present as you laugh along? The best comic store around. There is a reason Boom Tube has won CT Insides Best Comic Book store for three years running and best Toy store this year. Lots of books, new and old, with a great wall book selection. Friendly environment, and welcoming atmosphere. Have met many people I consider good friends here, including the store owner Dan. Dan always runs a fair business, discourages scalpers by not allowing single people to buy out hot merchandise, and always sells at MSRP on release while other shops are charging eBay prices. read more

Boom Tube Comics is one of the best comic book shops around. They have a huge variety of comics that are displayed neatly and organized and if you are looking for something specific the staff is always willing to help. Most of the comics in the shop are the recent issues, but if you are looking for something older, they may have it in storage and can arrange for it to be in shop your next visit. They have everything catalog in their system and if they don't have it available, they can order it too. I have become a regular, but I have yet to start a pull list. There are a few perks in starting a pull list; your comics are board and bagged, plus discounts! I'm new to comic book collecting and I'm not that serious just yet. A long with all of their comics, they have comic compilation books, graphic novels, and even a small selection of kids' books. They also have TCG and CCG, all reasonably priced too. You can buy singles and sometimes have booster and hobby boxes. read more

Boom Tube Comics is easily the best comic shop around! Dan and Karen (how many places do you get to know the owners on a first name basis?) put so much love into their store, and it shows. They offer fair prices, a great selection, and even better company. Don't see what you're looking for? No problem. I spent years struggling to manage my Star Wars trade paperback release schedule on my own (there's a LOT to keep track of); then I found Boom Tube Comics, and now they special order them for me. Had a GREAT experience at Boom Tube comics. My daughter want to start reading My Little Pony comics and I decided to bring her to her 1st comic book store to pick some out. Luckily for me that store was closer to home than I thought. Not too far from 84 and right off the Meriden Waterbury Turnpike in Milldale. We checked out Boom Tube on our way home from Mothers Day brunch. As one person mentioned in an earlier review, Boom Tube leaves out older issues of in production comics so that you have more of an opportunity to pick up issues you may have missed. This will be very beneficial to me if my daughter continues reading comics as we dont get the chance to make it out as soon as a new issue is released. The owner was VERY personable and immediately looked to assist us with our experience. He even started up a conversation about the latest MLP releases. He also recommended which ones we should get including the team up of Transformers and My Little Pony (Got to love Hasbro). By far, the most welcoming comic shop I've ever been to. I'm fairly new to the hobby and Dan, the store owner, took time to introduce me to such a wide variety of books from many different publishers. The store is very clean and organized. I recently started collecting again and this is my go to shop. Dan, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and nice. You can tell he has a true passion for his business and the medium of comics. This shop is amazing! After only being open for one year, it has already grown in its extensive collection of statues, local artists and back issues. What I enjoy even more is that the owner is a true fan as well and always open to chat about anything comics whenever I go in. He also always has a huge selection of current stock including a lot of Indy comic titles as well as the Majors... Fantastic experience visiting this shop. Dan, the Owner is exceptionally kind and helpful. He's willing to order something if he doesn't already have it. His pull list or sub list offers different perks as well. Great selection of new, solid selection of back stock as well. Clean, organized, well displayed. Even carries some collectibles and lots of trade paperbacks or graphic novels as well. There aren't many LCS like this anymore especially not in this area. Hands down, the best comic shop in the state. I've been to quite a few of them. Non can hold a candle to what Boom Tube has. I am leaving 5 stars but more so just want the owner to know, on Tuesday I came, had 300 bucks in cash that I wanted to spend on a ton of collected editions. He said Tuesday was curbside only, said he didn't have time to go shopping for me. I went to the one in new haven spent all my money there and will continue to spend my time there weekly. Oh well, I think if he nice if the website was updated to indicate curb side only on Tuesday or if the guy just let me walk in for 15 minutes which is all it took me in new haven to spend my money since I had a organized list read more
