In my comic book era!! a friend of mine recently moved up to Massachusetts and still drives down often to visit Heroes & Hitters. I got the chance to visit with him this past weekend and it was a cool experience. The store is small and a bit tucked away from the street, but there is plenty of parking behind the building and another entrance. The owner Wayne is super friendly! While waiting for my friend to search, I had a conversation with him about the book I picked up and started reading. Definitely a cool hobby to have and now that I've discovered a few comics that I like, I definitely see myself coming back. read more

Great Atmosphere! My first visit to a comic store, I drove a teen who loves comic books, and is a big fan of Sheldon's (Bazinga!) and friends' favorite type of hang-out:) We were warmly greeted immediately upon entry by a woman, and then later, again warmly, by a man, both are probably owners from what I read quickly in other reviews here. They seem genuinely passionate about the business, and customer service, based on their discussions as we shopped. Relaxed atmosphere without any hard-selling or hovering as we explored. As a newbie, I can't speak to comparisons to other comic book stores, but I found the store to be very well organized, easy to shop, fun presentation, full with inventory, and a great mix of carefully preserved vintage items and new items. H&H is a cool comic shop behind Kob Jai Thai restaurant in Rocky Hill. I wouldn't say I'm a comic expert, but they appeared to have a large selection for a relatively small store. I saw lots of different super hero comics, Star Wars, Walking Dead, etc. I was looking for something that I didn't see and the staff person was very attentive and helpful. So make a date for drunken noodles and comics. read more

I go out of my way to get to Heroes & Hitters PRIMARILY because of its owners Wayne & Eileen! They are accommodating, courteous, professional & generous. I don't even have a "pull list" with them and they treat me like one of their regulars. 9 out of 10 comic shops are manned or owned by either weirdos or greedy proprietors, but H&H are that 1 out of 10 that you wish were located in your town. Great store. I am relatively new to comics and the owner/manager was super friendly and helpful. He helped me find what I was looking for and even offered to order some of things I was interested in. The store itself was nice as well, good layout and lots of options. Would recommend to anybody interested in comics or graphic novels. read more

Wayne, the owner, is super-nice and if he can help you find something you're looking for, he'll do it. It's not the largest store, but has the newest books and a healthy back stock. So many stores seem more interested in gaming, or anything else, but Wayne always goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. read more

This is a lovely little comic store kind of hidden away in Rocky Hill. Ample parking in front and rear (as it is a tucked back part of a strip mall). Very organized store; while yes, the Big Two hold a majority of the store, there's plenty of space for indie and smaller labels, as well as local smallpress comics makers (like me!). There's also space to move around! Super friendly staff, especially Eileen who is really nice. Easy to order things that they don't have in stock, and they maintain a picking list for everyone. There's a good reason they won Best of Hartford awards for 'best comic store' in both 2016 and 2017. read more

I just moved to Cromwell from California, so I did a comic crawl to check out all the local stores and this one was my favorite for a couple reasons: -The store was clean and organized! You don't feel cramped. All the back issues are kept in series much better than any other store in the area. -They have a good stock. They carry comics beyond Marvel and DC, they have 3 areas so you can find things easily - new this month, recent, and back issue. They didn't have as extensive a collection of back issues as another store I visited, but, again, it was organized so if could actually find something I'm searching for, so I preferred this store. -On my visits I've had the chance to meet both of the owners (a married couple, if my memory serves me right), and dude, they are crazy nice people - I can see why they've managed to stay in business for so long. -And lastly, they had a couple decor items from The Tick in the store - which I just take as a sign from The Lord that this is the place for me. read more

The employee at the register was beyond rude. We were greeted in such a way we wanted to just turn around and walk out but we still decided to give this place a chance. Found a couple things but decided to look elsewhere that was more friendly and would appreciate our business. They also have a serious bee problem with around 50-60+ bees that poses a risk to the customers by the entrance. They were not actively trying to fix the problem and it seemed like they really could have cared less. If it were my store and I valued my customers it would be made my #1 priority. read more

Let me first say, I went to "Omni" down the road and was treated like a bother more than a customer. I was pleased to stop in to Heros and Hitters to find a guy who took the few seconds I needed to answer a few questions about some old comics I had. I turned out they were basically worthless. My point here is, that I was treated kindly and went on my merry way. I may not be a collector but I am human, and was treated well here. Nice shop, good customer service. Thanks! read more

Very friendly with a huge selection of the big 2. I asked for a title they don't normally carry and got it the next Wednesday. I wish they carried more DH or Image but I understand that they can't stock every title. read more

The first time I went there they didn't have the title I was looking for- fair enough, you can't stock everything. I requested they order the run of the series I was looking for and my son and I found some other titles we wanted and bought them. I returned again to get the titles I requested and some others- no problem. When I returned a third time, they hadn't ordered my titles- again, no problem, mistakes happen. When I asked if they had the title I was looking for in stock, the clerk scoffed and said "I'm sure without even looking we wouldn't carry that here." A business shouldn't judge the titles their patrons select. It was beyond rude. That is the last time I will ever return to this pathetic place. I hope it goes out of business and/or they fire this rude clerk. read more

Great store! The owners are nice, and are usually there. They have a wide selection of comics, and even some toys and other things in the front. You can even reserve your own box, where they put all of your comics from the week so stopping in is easy and quick. It's located in a great place, with many stores and restaurants nearby. Used to be a good store, but it has fallen way down since the store became secondary to the owner a few years ago. Difficult to get new comics if you don't go within the first few days of release as the store doesn't buy a lot for non-subscribers. Back issues are rarely in stock. I echo an earlier review about the staff. The guys that work most of the hours are not very friendly and I have heard them say many inappropriate things about customers. read more
