Boone's is so great! I live all the way in Etown and try to get over to Boone's every chance I get. I love their selection, I love their sales, and their meat is always good. Whenever I have a special occasion that I can justify it, I'd love to come and request a specific cut of meat here. In addition to meat and deli, they offer all sorts of goodies, treats, and things to make your meats taste better. It's always nice and clean inside, and even though it's a little tight that's never been a problem. My only beef (pun very much intended) with Boone's is that they're closed on Sunday, so I can't go to church and get my butcher shop shopping on the same day. I love coming here when I'm visiting from Texas. I went today and spent $200 on steaks, roast beef, sausage, seasonings, etc. A short, gray-haired lady helped me, and she was a total BITCH! I told her I wanted steaks an inch and a half, and she gave me an inch and a quarter. She argued with me and said that's what I ordered, and I said no, I didn't. We stopped in here for the first time to use a gift card we received during the holidays. Great value, large selection of meats and other goods. Got our Thanksgiving Turkey breast on sale for the best price we've seen, less than $3/lb. They had full frozen turkeys also in the $25 range. Thick fresh cut ribeyes and 2 packages of pork steaks plus some rolls of sausage and a specialty bbq sauce came in at under $90. We enjoyed walking the main square area of Bardstown & the beautiful Autumn trees too. Nice day trip! read more

This is a store for discount on all your raw meats . The meats are served fresh never frozen. If it goes to the freezer it is marked down for quick sale. You may buy a whole side of beef and have it cut to your desired thickness. The only problem is they use to cut their lunch meat as you order it. Now they cut it and store in cool place. I rather have it cut fresh especially the country ham . I now purchase it elsewhere. They have fast and easy checkout. Hands down, the best butcher in Kentucky. No matter what you're looking for, Boone's will accommodate. I'm a beef snob living in Nashville and I make my way to Bardstown specially for their selection of USDA prime beef that is not offered anywhere close in Nashville. Their customer service is unmatched and their pricing is incredible. I have requested multiple custom cuts from them so I can dry age at home and they are very good about doing everything they can to get what I request. They offer dry age beef in house as well. ALL of the staff are extremely friendly and treat you like family. Boone's has always made me a happy customer and that's why they are my butcher for life! Boone's is my butcher for life! read more

I stayed the week in Bardstown for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and finally got tired of eating out, so I decided to stop in and see what I could find. Its location is close to downtown, in close proximity to Museum Row. I've driven by it at least a dozen times, but never stopped in. It's like most places in Bardstown, it's closed on Sundays. I really don't understand why everywhere still grasps this concept. Bardstown has become a tourist attraction. I visit several times a year and even when I pass through the area, I always stop in Bardstown, at least for lunch... it's usually always on a Sunday. Enough of my Sunday rant, you get the point. They need to be open on Sundays. We pulled up and there was literally a cattle trailer parked outside. We were there on a weekday afternoon and the place was crowded. It's more than meats though, they have chips, candies, potato salads, spices, etc. They have several cheeses available behind the counter. You pull a number and then wait for your number to light up and they'll slice the cheese or get whatever cut of meat that you want from behind the glass case/counter. You don't have to pick meats that way though, there is plenty of prepackaged meats available. Honestly the prepackaged choices looked freshest. For around $6, I got a package of thin prepackaged beef and it was excellent, no fat at all. Follow their Facebook page to see what there weekly package special is. I watched for a couple of weeks and both weeks featured a hefty package for under $50. I planned on stopping back by before heading home to get this week's special, but didn't get back by. read more

Boone's Boone's Boone's butcher shop has the meat! Literally fresh to frozen. They got you covered. I love some Jowl bacon and other types of stuff you can't get at a chain grocery store. If you plan on feeding a group. They have bags of frozen chicken to onion rings and such. They even have some potato salad that is delicious! They have the usually sandwich meat and regular chicken, beef and pork products. A few fish products. Deli service and butcher service. Mixes and seasonings as well. My only complaint was some items have been in the freezer too long and it showed. read more

Always a great place for meat! Picked up a pig for a pig roast. They had it exactly how we wanted it. The pork was delicious!

I took my pig in to be processed for a pig roast. They asked if I wanted it butterflied. They said they wouldn't cut all the way through. They did and now the pig is ruined for how I cook them. They gave me my money back but the party is ruined. I will never do business with them again read more

Very excited about my first visit to Boone's Butcher Shop. Went to pick up a lamb that they processed and picked up some very good looking dry-aged steaks, including a bone-in beef sirloin. Where else are you going to find that? You want it, they've got it. It would take innumerable trips to Boone's to sample all that they offer. I will try to be your Yelp correspondent and return to Boone's to report on their goods. I don't know why this is listed as a 3 $$$ business; their meats range from inexpensive to reasonable. It looks like their various meat bundles are very attractively priced. I might get one when I have room in my freezer. Nice selection of beef and pork. The steaks in the case are what I would go back for. I grabbed a packaged pork shoulder to make carnitas with. When I pulled it out of the plastic I was surprised to see a good 1/2 inch of untrimmed fat on the bottom. Hiding this from view I thought was a little shady. I trimmed out more than a third of the shoulder. I was left with a nicely marbled piece of pork. This was a bit of a drive so I probably won't be back. I'm still searching for a good butcher/processor. read more

We drive down from Lexington a couple of times a month to stock up on the Weekly Specials (check FB, Website, etc) got a pack of their stuffed chops & cannot wait to cook them. Living 20 minutes from Boones Butcher Shop, you here lots of chatter from several individuals. All good chatter! I came to Boones today to stock up on meats for the spring time. With a budget of $180- $200 my girlfriend and I set out to fill the freezer. We got our cart and quickly started filling it. Marinated sirloin, ribeyes, and T-bone steaks were just the tip! We're got some of Boones own breakfast sausage. Then we got a bit crazy and picked up and entire pork loin, which you take to the counter and they'll fix you up right. As requested we got it cut 1" thick with 4 per package. A few minutes later we had 5 packages ready to freeze for future dinners! They also have several kinds of cheese which we took full advantage of and got some smoked cheddar and smoked Gouda. There meat selection dwarfs any other place around. I took a full size deer in with a standard cut i ended up with 14 lbs of steaks.. So i went back up there and they give us the run around said a doe should produce 14 lbs of steak and 14 lbs of burger.. Off a 150 lb doe.. No ribs and no fat in the burger.. We have been loyal customers for over 25 years. We raise our own beef calves and hogs. I am a diehard hunter. This is the only place that we bring our livestock to be processed. The USDA inspector is on site when we drop off and is there through the whole process. They are very thorough on how you want your animal processed, and will immediately fix any mistakes. Their Deer processing is top notch. This is a family business and they take a lot of pride in the service they provide. I'm now raising more animals because our friends that have tasted their products can't believe the difference. They have processed over 100 animals for my friends and family with the same amazing results! We will continue to use Boones as our only custom butcher shop read more

Watch out for their "Grade A" steaks. There is no such grade. Grades go Prime, Choice, Select, Standard, etc. The lowest grade Kroger carries is Select, so you can be sure "A" is somewhat less quality than that. They only really carry Beef, pork, chicken. fresh, if you want lamb it is frozen and over priced. Other stuff is pretty much special order. I asked for a price on a goat leg roast and they said $18/LB. in Denver, my butcher charged $6/lb. They do carry good steaks (other than the grade A), but you pay a premium. and they occasionally have smoked turkey tails, which is the only thing I go back for. They seem to do well with what I call their "Pig Feasts" - 5 LBs each of low grade chicken, beef, pork, frozen Swai, and breaded mystery meat. for $20.00??? This is not a traditional butcher shop, just a high volume meat supply. read more

This is a great place to go if you want a bone in sirloin. Just give them some notice and they will cut what you want. We are RVers and the freezers aren't that big or else we would take even more meat home. (And we live in large city). They have alway been so pleasant and will freezer wrap if you ask.
