Worth the beautiful drive from Louisville! Everyone was warm and inviting with the cutest little runner in Kentucky. Service was fantastic! We had been watching their facebook page and saw that the special today was fried Pork chop, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, beans and cornbread, and fried apples. The special is $12.99 and comes with two sides. We each got different sides so we could try everything. Pork chops were tender and juicy, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and beans and cornbread tasted like grandma made them, yummy and delicious! Probably one of the best cheese burgers I have ever had. I walked in and the man greeted me at the counter. It was pretty cold out so I sat inside. My wife & I went on a Saturday at 2pm for lunch. You are in a country store where maybe there are 5 tables in the back corner. To know what to expect, you will be sitting by refrigerators, freezers and canned goods. The service is excellent and enjoyable. You make your order at the register when you walk in and when your food is ready they find you. You pay at the register when you leave. The last few times we've gone there the service was very slow. The food is okay and made fresh, but having to wait an hour really cuts enthusiasm. I generally get their breakfast, pancakes and sausage. These items are good, but not really worth the effort. I'm not sure how they manage to not have a bathroom for guests, but this is a warning they don't have one. If you'd like to eat there then I'd recommend getting it to go. read more

I've lived in Waddy, just 7 miles away, my whole life, and never had gotten food here. I ordered cheeseburgers, a steak sandwich, and a slice of chocolate pie. Steak sandwich was a tiny bit chewy, but again, for $5, it was better than I'd have bet. The cheeseburge was great. I added on some peppermint bark that was next to the register that I really enjoyed. I loved the warm stove in the center of the store. The guy behind the counter introduced himself and said he knew my dad... These type of home- cooking, country stores aren't as prevalent as they once were, so I encourage people to try this place out for your casual eating! This is the best kept secret in Shelby County. My husband loves this old country store. You will be hard-pressed to find a better cheeseburger. I love this local, hole in the wall kind of place. Once stepped inside the store, you are transported back to the good old day. The store is filled with stuff from ancient history to modern everyday items. They have a small restaurant with 4 tables that fit snuggly in the back. The smell of grease was a bit too much for me. The food was good. There was no menu. The server just let you know what's available that day. I ordered a country ham sandwich. The country ham tasted delicious. However, it was a bit pricy for the place and the portion that I got. I was a bit disappointed when my cup of water costs 99 cents. It tasted a bit funny too. Despite all the negative things, the place still retains its charming rustic country store/restaurant that I would definitely go back to explore some more if I have time. read more

On a recent visit to my home state of KY, I was treated to lunch by my sister. I was taken to a great little country store with a restaurant in the back. Owners June and Vivian fixed a very tasty lunch. Once the lunch crowd thinned out, they sat down and chatted with us. The told us the 100+ year history of the store.
