Our recent visit to Whistler BC, first time for me, saw us first stopping at Squamish for lunch…read more The drive up the Sky to Sky Highway (Highway 99) is phenomenal .. as is the entire Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, too beautiful for words! We ate at a cute 100% vegan cafe called @tuba_cafe_ right in the heart of downtown Squamish, offering lots of smoothie flavors, coffees, a few sandwiches and four different kinds of vegan desserts! When entering the restaurant, you can actually enter from their front or back doors. We decided to split a "Kado Sandwich" (panini) - consisting of zucchini, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, spice, parsley, tomato paste, and cheese. If you're wondering if the panini tastes as good as it looks, it absolutely does .. and, even better when paired with their provided dipping sauce! I decided to grab a smoothie, simply and aptly named "Brown" .. espresso, mango, banana, walnut, protein powder, and almond butter ... a lot of varied ingredients that really complemented one another in the final product. Last but certainly not least, we both ordered a different dessert. My wife ordered the "Tiramisu", consisting of cream cheese, almond butter, biscuit, and maple syrup and I ordered the "Cheesecake", consisting of date, walnut, cream cheese, maple syrup, and almond butter. While both desserts shared some similar ingredients, each had their own distinct flavor and was a perfect touch to our shared sandwich and smoothie. Whether you're driving through Squamish or staying for a bit, if you're looking for fast service, delicious food with simple ingredients, right in the heart of downtown, you should definitely check them out!

The dressing blend is a perfect accent to the fresh greens. I had the turkey salad sandwich that comes on GF homemade, grain-free, corn free waffles. Mayo blend was spectacular with a hint of tarragon. My partner had eggs Benedict with a side salad. Presentation was a 10. Taste 10. Value 10. Do NOT pass this place up. Their GF bakery is also a treasure. We have their cinnamon doughnuts, chocolate muffins, and Boston cream donuts. All were great. Wish the cream in the doubts was punched up with a tad more vanilla, but I can't knock how impressed I was with their offerings. They have a freezer in front to buy shrink wrapped meals. We bought waffles, gnocchi, pizzas, and beef bolognese. Pizza was a 10 for, with pepperoni, sausage, and cashew cheese. The crust needs work. It nearly disintegrated in the oven. (Think more cornbread texture than pizza crust.). Again, not a fatal flaw. You won't be disappointed. Isaac is the general manager and is the nicest person. He explained how the chef was the former chef at the Westin in Whistler and how the restaurant came to be. A must stop on the way to Whistler and with the trip from Vancouver. A true gem! Parking is allowed in the lot behind the restaurant. Don't be intimidated by the signs. It's part of the approved parking complex.

I came here with my parents and had a net positive experience here despite the 3 stars. It's a…read moresmall place, with about 3 tables inside and 3 outside, but they do provide real plates, cutlery, etc for dining in. The staff were very friendly. They were out of a few things - no more oatmeal and only one serving of matcha left when we all wanted matcha, but the alternatives that we went with were still appealing, so it wasn't a big deal. The one matcha went to my mom, and it seemed like she got the scraps of it because it looked and tasted pretty watery. I got a chai latte which was pretty good but a little grainy. The food on the other hand was really good. I got the buckwheat pancakes and tried some of the smoothie bowl. The pancakes were hearty and fluffy, topped with a delicious berry chia jam and cashew cream. The plate came with 3 small-ish pancakes which was a satisfying portion that wasn't too much. We were also asked if we wanted maple syrup with the pancakes, but I ended up not needing to add any because the jam and cream were enough. Maple syrup is $2 for a small cup so I would recommend skipping it unless you really want something sweeter. The jam and cream are just modestly sweet which was perfect for me. The blueberry smoothie bowl was also delicious and came with lots of toppings - their granola had a delightful texture. It was a bit of a wait for food, so ordering the breakfast plates is probably not the best option if you're in a hurry, but they have ready-to-eat stuff available if you do want something quick, and the drinks didn't take long. I would be interested in coming back to try more of the food menu if I were in Whistler again.

The folks working there were just as nice as can be and directed us to the stew, which was my favorite we also ordered the rise N shine wrap which was also good. Their Matcha latte was one of the best I've ever had. A small cozy space inside. I only wish we had tried their baked goods selections. Next time!
