This man is very good at what he does and you can tell he has a passion for it. I brought my Netherland dwarf bunny there because I started to notice that his teeth were causing his lip to bleed and he was eating less. I called Eagle Animal Hospital because I went there previously and they referred me to Dr. Bob because they do not trim bunny teeth. So first he did an extremely thorough exam of my little bun. He sat on the floor with him in order to protect him from being jumpy. He told me every step of the way how much things may cost and what signs he was seeing in my rabbit. He opened my rabbits mouth for me and showed me exactly what was happening with his teeth. I was really impressed by his honesty. Also when it came time for him to trim the bunnys teeth he used an electric dental instrument to saw off the crooked teeth that were preventing him from eating right. He showed me where the nerve in my bunnys teeth were so that I wouldn't be worried about him being hurt. There was very very careful precision and patience needed for this because the rabbit was jumpy. I was glad he could do this without anesthesia because my rabbit was sick and fragile. He also found that my bunny has an upper respiratory infection. He showed me how to give the rabbit medicine and provided careful instructions. He really is much better than the last vet I went to with small animals. The last vet should have caught my bunnys teeth issues. I'm very hopeful that we can get my rabbit healthy again. Oh and if this story isn't convincing enough -- he's a upenn graduate and has his degrees shown on the wall. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Have a sick peregrine falcon - My father and I have been licensed falconers for 9 and 7 years respectively. Called today to see if I could bring the bird in, because she's REALLY not doing well. The Dr. asked questions about housing, feeding, etc. over the phone - all normal stuff. I arrive at the facility 15 minutes before the appointment time to allow time to fill out any paperwork. I get the bird out to look her over and make sure the car ride didn't negatively affect her too badly. The Dr. comes out and expects me to hand the bird over and stay outside. In the 9 years I've been doing falconry, I've had several vet trips and NOT ONCE been asked to hand the bird off IN THE PARKING LOT because it's a falcon. They require special handling. I tell him that's a policy that would have been nice to know before I drove an hour and a half to get here. He just asks me "well is it a problem?" And I responded "...yes. That's not a normal practice. That is something I should have been told before I drove an hour and a half to get here." And in the rudest, snottiest voice I have ever heard, he says "you know what? Then you can go somewhere else." And then walks away AS I AM STILL TALKING TO HIM and literally slams the door after shrugging at me. Hands down one of the rudest, most inconsiderate people I have ever met. On top of it all, the bird has had no food or fluids today in preparation for the appointment. So now I have a weak bird with no food or fluids in it that has been subjected to the stress of a 3 hour drive, and no diagnostics on what is wrong. Indeed, Dr. Bob is simply the best vet in the area. I have gone to him with numerous animals over more than a decade now and there is no one I would trust more with my animals. He is very personable and makes sure you and your pet and as comfortable as possible. He knows what he is talking about. As far as exotics go he is the best in the area. Our family dog had gotten very old and the vet my mother took her to was horrible. I suggested Dr. Bob and he did a series of tests and gave us advice that added years to her life and she lived to be 17. read more

Even though I live a distance from Boot Road Veterinary Clinic, I will gladly travel there so my pets can receive great kindness, care and compassion from Dr. Bob. Since he was recommended to me five six years ago, Dr. Bob has treated my Shetland Sheepdog, two finches, my lovebird, and, most recently, my son's cat - all with healthy, loving results. He is an honest and knowledgeable practitioner who shows a genuine concern for his patients. My only "FYI" to his future customers relates to his location along Boot Road: Exercise caution when pulling in and out of his office (which is within his home) as it is a blind curve where cars tend to travel fast. I have been going to "Dr. Bob" for several years for my previous bunny and my current bunny. Dr. Bob is not only a skilled and informed vet, but it is obvious that he cherishes each patient (and their owners!). He still remembers my father from the one time my dad brought my bunny to him; this was 7 years ago! When my last bunny died, my parents, who were caring for my bunny, said that Dr. Bob was visibly upset that my bunny was sick. He always gives great advice and knows what he is talking about. He always greets me and my bunny by name despite the fact that it can be as long as a whole year between my visits. I am so glad that Dr. Bob is my vet; as long as I have pets, he will be my vet. read more

We have decades of experience with veterinarians and our longest relationship with our trusted vet ended when he retired a few years ago. We did find another that we are pleased with but our dog was already in his senior years and passed after only a couple of years there. We've chosen our next breed and await the breeder's dogs to come into season, but our home was empty so we decided to adopt a couple of little exotics to add to our family and temper the wait. Our new vet does exotics but we wanted to try Dr. Bob because of his claimed experience with exotics. Due to Covid he wasn't permitting people to accompany their pets, which is understandable but still very difficult to have to trust implicitly someone with whom you have zero experience, so I took great pains to write out a thorough history of each of the girls before we arrived so that he would have everything necessary to start a comprehensive file for each of them. In it I also listed what I was seeking from him for each of them by way of services from him, and all our own personal pertinent information for contact and billing. When we arrived he was releasing another patient who he informed us was highly communicable and asked that we wait while everything was disinfected so that our little girls would not become infected, which we were obviously pleased to do but increased our stress at not being permitted to accompany them inside and to hand them over to a stranger under these conditions. We provided him with their full history as already described, which quickly became clear to us that he failed to read at all because he called us from inside and asked us all the same questions that were already in his hand. Each of the girls needed their nails to be cut and while getting weight is customarily the very first thing any vet or human doctor does with every single species in a health check, with this species of exotic it is of utmost importance because it is frequently one of the only early markers of any possible health issues, so we were quite serious about getting this on each of them. Soon after, Dr. Bob returned to the parking lot to hand them back over to us and again began asking additional questions despite all the answers having already been provided on the initial history, proving once more that he not only chose to ignore it in the beginning but clearly never read any of it at any time. He rushed off to another patient and returned only our credit card but without any receipt, much less the standard itemized one which we've found is quite customary with all vets. When we returned home I promptly called him to request that he provide to me their weights over the phone and to send our itemized receipt to us, and provided a return call number so he didn't have to go look it up anywhere. He failed to respond. I called and was forced to leave several more messages with the same request and contact number over the course of the next few days, all of which went ignored. We began to feel very much like we were ripped off. Finally Dr. Bob decided not to have to deal with the Mrs. and went in search of a contact number for the Mr. (highly questionable and offensive) so that he refused to call the number provided to him and instead talked to the Mr. and claimed he "forgot" to weigh them and didn't have that information for us, or any itemized receipt. At this point we believe all this man did was clip their nails for an incredible amount of money that is more than 3 times what our vet (who we've since taken them to) charged for a comprehensive exam and nail clip...including weights! Since he claims to have forgotten to do the very first thing every doctor does for every species in an exam, we further believe he chose not to actually provide any of the services we'd requested on the file we provided initially. Additionally, when the Mr. requested he provide an itemized receipt to us and drop it in the mail, he refused! This guy wouldn't even put a stamp on an envelope and forward to us what he should have handed to us at the time, and then ranted about how it was just easier for us to come pick it up in his arrogant ignorance that we're no where near him and he is out of the way for either of us in our daily travels, not to mention we were all still dealing with the Covid stay at home orders but he demanded we drive another half hour each way to pick up something that he owed to us in a most unprofessional display! He further suggested that we put additional stress on the girls by loading them up again and returning to him to get their weights -- as if! When we finally did receive his "itemized receipt" it is simply a hand scribbled claim to have provided additional services we had not requested and confirmed that those we had requested had not been provided. We will never return to him and would advise others to stay away as well. Most disappointing and unprofessional. read more

I've been using "Dr. Bob" for over five years now and he's the best! When my Weimaraner, Max, knows he's going for a visit he practically wags his tail off in excitement. Dr. Bob and Max are the best of buds and Max gets exceptional care. Dr. Bob is also an avian vet and I have nine parrots. He's had to treat two of them and they're both as good as new thanks to his knowledge and care. Although there are numerous vets a lot closer to me I'd never consider going anywhere else. read more

I can't say enough nice things about Dr Bob. He has been my veterinarian for about 15 years for both my parrots and my dogs. I trust him 100% and know that he will take wonderful care of them. Earlier this year Dr Bob caught a blood test issue with one of my dogs that could have resulted in him dying on the operating table. 3 other vets whom I know personally told me that they would not have even paid attention to that result. I was not even going to write a review but after reading the others; a few months ago I called this vet because my dog had started limping and I had given it a day or two and it was not getting better. So I called to see if I could get an appointment, his office is truly less than a minute drive from my house. Any way I called several times left massages and never got a return call. It would seem that he likes to work on birds and rabbits and if that is his only clients that's fine but at least call some one back and let them know. It doesn't get any better than Dr. Bob. If you need an avian vet, which is almost impossible to find in many areas, go to him if you can. The first time I went to him with an injured duck, he poked, pressed, prodded and did everything imaginable for a physical exam. He sat on the floor with the duck to observe its behavior. He completely disregarded how many times the duck pooped on him (that's what ducks do when they're frightened and out of their comfort zone, so that wasn't his fault) and just kept watching how the duck was acting. He correctly diagnosed and treated a beloved pet that's also a show breeder duck. Dr. Bob loves animals and is sensitive to your feelings. He breeds some birds himself, so he understands that they aren't throw-away animals if something treatable happens, unlike the feeling you might get from some vets who focus on mammals and will incidentally take a look at your birds. Dr. Bob is also honest with you about what it will cost you if you want to pursue further diagnosis and/or treatment of a bird that's very ill. Once you get to know him, you can kind of see it in his eyes, and I really feel like he's hurting for you if he knows you're hurting. He doesn't push a specific thing on you. He just tells you what your options are if it's something that can't be treated in the office immediately or at home in the longer term. He returns calls quickly and makes himself available in emergencies even though he often works alone. You can't do better in this area, probably not most other areas, either. Vets gain knowledge in veterinary training, but people can't be trained to actually care like Dr. Bob does. read more

I am very saddened to have to write this review. I have never had to write a negative review before this one. However, I feel it is necessary to write this to allow others to know what my experience was with Dr. Bob. I called in desperation because my rabbit was very sick. I had taken him to his regular vet and was told that they were unsure of what the problem was. I knew that there was something terribly wrong with my sweet baby and needed someone that could help me. I was taking him to Dr. Bob because I was worried if he was going to live. I called and made an appointment with Dr. Bob and he gave me a time that he could see my precious baby. I was very hopeful that he would be the one that would be able to help me and get my baby back on the right track. When he gave me the appointment time I told him that I had other animals to care for at home and had a little ways to travel to get there and would be unable to be there at that exact time. I got the impression that that would be fine because he said OK and hung up the phone. After driving around endlessly trying to find his office that was not clearly marked, I finally found it. I was not on time for the appointment as I had indicated previously. When I walked into his waiting room and rang the bell he came out very abruptly yelling at me and asking me if I was the person that had the sick rabbit. I was very taken back by this behavior, being that he is a veterinarian and I have always found veterinarians to be very loving and compassionate people especially to sick animals and very upset worried animal parents. He proceeded to throw me out of his office even though I told him that my rabbit was probably going to die if he would not look at him. He told me I needed to leave right then and there and that he had somebody else coming in. I offered to sit and wait until he had an opportune time to see me and he still refused to see my baby and demanded that I leave his office immediately. Needless to say, I left in tears and was absolutely humiliated and in disbelief of what had just happened. I did not know it was possible for anyone that was a veterinarian to be so callous that they could turn away a dying animal. I have never heard of such a thing and I certainly would not ever want anyone else to have such an experience as this. read more
