In my opinion, the best of the restaurants at Secrets Vallarta bay, and it should be, it's their formal dining option and a French restaurant, so if you are to be so bold as to do French, it must be done right. I would say in this case, this is a really solid representation, and the service backs up the excellent food to go with a very romantic ambience. We tried a little bit of everything, opting to visit this restaurant twice during our week long stay, since it was our favorite the first time around. The only thing that was a little lacking was actually the soups, everything else was top board. I didn't try soup at any other restaurant, mostly due to how hot it is here in PV, but having tried the french onion and lobster bisque here, I don't think I was missing much. All other appetizers were great. Mussels and escargot, lovely. Brie in a puff pastry with a simple salad... simple ingredients with an excellent result. The entrees definitely shined. Beef Wellington is a classic and I can never resist ordering it when I find it. Just like every other protein at this resort, it was just right. Cooked to spec and inside a flaky pastry with a hearty gravy. Also got to try a bite of the rack of lamb, just as good as the filet in its own right. You would be missing out greatly if you skip Bordeaux while staying at Secrets. Definitely ensure you visit. read more

The service is the best at the resort. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. We also has the escargo which is amazing in a garlic,butter sauce. The oysters Rockefeller was okay. The flavor was a little too bland for my liking. The beef Wellington was flavorful and cooked at the perfect temp. The beef bourguignon was melt in your mouth delicious. You have to order the chocolate souffle in advance because it takes 30 minutes to prepare. Definitely worth the effort. We Love this place and go back more than once during our vacation. read more

After waiting for a while and only ordering appetizers, our food seemed to come out extremely late compared to other tables that were seated after us and had already made it through both their appetizers and entrees. The restaurant had only been open for about an hour and a half, yet we weren't informed until our food started coming out that they were out of the appetizer I had ordered. Unfortunately, it happened to be my favorite appetizer. At that point, I considered leaving, but decided to stay. The service was also disappointing. It took quite a while for anyone to acknowledge us. I thought there might be some redemption after that, but things didn't improve. When I dropped a fork on the floor, the server picked it up but never brought me a replacement. As for drink refills, I had to ask even though it was obvious our glasses were empty. When the appetizers finally arrived, they were lukewarm at best. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations. Food was delicious. Short rib dishes were a standout as they were cooked to perfection. Baked Brie appetizer was just a delicious but small bite, so order one for each person in your party. Portions overall were two bite size but this is perfect given the number of courses. However, my husband ordered a double portion of his entree. Wine list was good and service was impeccable. Get there early as restaurant is small and seating limited. Decor was dark and castlel-like. No windows and it was a warm evening, so it was a bit warm and stuffy. Phone flashlights were used all around us to read menus. The food was excellent but I gave 4 stars for atmosphere. I was glad to get back outside after dinner. read more

I had such a delicious meal at Bordeaux when visiting PVR and staying at Secrets. We arrived a little later in the night as to avoid the long wait so when we did show up, we were able to be seated right away. Our server was over quickly and took our drink order. We also had some bread brought over and water glasses filled up. Many items on the menu sounded great, so I selected a few to try. I started with the Rockefeller oysters, had a cup of the lobster bisque and my main entree was the ratatouille. My hubby ordered the Niçoise salad, the onion soup and the filet mignon (server recommendation). Everything was remarkable and tasted so good. The timing in between courses was perfect as it gave us time to enjoy our dish and take a break before the next one arrived. Our server made sure we had lots of wine and was checking in on us often. The service was fantastic! For dessert, we had a small assortment of items including creme brûlée, chocolate mousse and a tropical fruit pastry. Everything was divine and a perfect way to end the meal. I am so glad we tried this spot during our trip and can't wait to visit again. read more

4.5/5 stars This restaurant is located in the Secrets hotel. Since we bought a bottle of wine at a different restaurant, we got to make a reservation in the wine cellar, which was gorgeous! At the wine cellar, they gave us a black currant martini and offered a set course with a salad, cauliflower soup, short rib crepe, a choice of a main dish (fish of the day or filet mignon/shrimp), and dessert. You can substitute anything and order appetizers. I asked for lamb shank for my entree. For appetizers, we shared the beef tartare, salmon mousse, foie gras, escargot, french onion soup, and scallops gratin. Most of the appetizers were just all right. My favorites were the escargot and the scallops gratin. The lamb shank fell off the bone and was very yummy. For dessert, I got the chocolate souffle, which was hot and fluffy just the way I liked it! I also appreciated the candle and the singing for my birthday celebration! read more

Esp. 85 degrees with 74% humidity. In this part of Mexico to find a fancy French restaurant seems odd but went with the flow! Everything was perfect except for the pear dessert where the dark chocolate mousse was left off of it. Once I mentioned it to the server to ask what happened? He then brings out a small plate with some dollops of mousse. Didn't know why they just didn't recreate the dish and start over. For an All-Inclusive restaurant, this is probably as good as it gets - the dress code makes you feel like you are enjoying something special. A wide selection of dishes to choose from - goat cheese salad, cheese plate, foie gras, escargot, steak, onion soup, fish crudo, rillettes de saumon, coulibiac de saumon... (menu changes daily). We reserved a cellar dinner one night with Alfonso being our excellent, low-key waiter. He helped us pick out a five-course meal among which the confit de canard (very moist, flavorful), and crème brûlée were stand-outs. Although perhaps not what you could get in France (especially dessert-wise with the mille-feuille or opera), the service was top-notch. They brought out a birthday cake and sang for my husband, an unexpected surprise. A few more French wine options would be nice (the lowest, a Beaujolais Villages started around 1,400 MX or $70), but we enjoyed the MacMurray estate Californian pinot we had. This was one of our favorite meals at the Secrets Resort in Puerto Vallarta. Having a craving for French food, we decided to try this place out on our first night at the hotel. For starters, we ordered the Salade Chévre Chaud, a Goat Cheese Salad with Lettuce, Raspberry Vinaigrette and Caramelized Walnuts and the Classic French Coquille St Jaque, Sautéed Scallops Served with Mushrooms in Creamy White Wine Sauce. Both were delicious, but the scallops were exceptional. For our main course, we ordered the Le Boeuf Bourguignon and the Langoustine dish with polenta. Again, both were fantastic but the langoustine dish stood out and we argued over sharing this one. For dessert, we split the Soufflé Aux Chocolate, which was the perfect amount of warm chocolate to cold vanilla ice cream. I tried this conveniently located French restaurant on my stay. My family overall really enjoyed our experience & will be back! The scallop entree dish was phenomenal! It was my family's favorite order of the day. We even ordered additional plates! The brioche de foie gras was also another amazing entree. My family agrees with me that the entrees (appetizers) were tastier than some of the "nos viandes" (main dishes). However, we thought the French onion soup was average and would not get it again. Main dishes: 1. Langoustine termidor (scampi sautéed with mushroom flambée and lobster bisque au gratin) was DELICIOUS! 2. I cannot stop thinking about how amazing this place was!! We started with bread, the raspberry goat cheese salad, and French onion soup. All was amazing and the service was so quick. There is an extensive wine menu, but it does cost extra. The entrees were good but could definetly use some salt because there wasn't much flavor. The other downside was the salad seemed old and wilted. Not that big a deal everything was delicious. That's the only reason it lost one star (wilted salad, extra cost of wine, and lack of salt). read more

Fine french dining in the middle of Mexico. Not entirely sure what I was expecting, but I'd give this a solid four stars. Overall quality of food is pretty high, service was excellent. Having read in advance that this was one of the best restaurants on the property, I made it a point to go the first night so I could return if I liked it. And return I did! I'd call a few of the items "interpretations" of French: -Tuna tartare appetizer. Eats much more like a poke (still good!) -Thousand leaves dessert. More like a multi-layered birthday cake. (didn't get the second time around) Entree assessment: -Rack of lamb. Pretty well prepared. -Fish. Pretty solid. Would get this again! Unfortunately didn't get it until my last night. -Steak. Average, little chewy. -Duck. Below average. Don't order this. Salad was mediocre, but in the midst of an all inclusive you do find yourself wanting some vegetables. We stayed at the secrets resort and this was our favorite restaurant by far. The only issue is that the potions are REALLY SMALL!!! Order several of the same food and ask them combine it. By far the best dish was the lamb shack which is only 2 pieces. As for the salad, skip it and go with the French onion soup. As for the deserts, the crem brûlée was pretty good. Skip the soufflé. It wasn't great. The service is 5+ but food can be a hit or miss. read more

For being a "French" themed restaurant I was incredibly disappointed in the bread, the French cheeses included Swiss and goat cheese, they didn't have langoustine due to "a poor quality shipment" the substitute was three pitiful shrimps, and my dessert was a crème brûlée that went through the fires of hell before arriving at my table. read more
