Very disappointed with tgeir hanging baskets. I purchased mine in mid May. U rotated them for sun exposure abd I did not over water them and I used a tiny bit of plant fertilizer in them. One of the hanging baskets got lopsided. The other own got stem rot. I did not over water them and rotated them in the sunlight and sparingly fertilzed them. In two weeks the hanging baskets did not look healthy or beautiful anymore. Very disappointed. read more

I love this local Michigan chain. First time at this location where I usually shop at the Clarkston store. Always a very large and diverse selection of healthy plants, tree's and shrubs . The key is "healthy" plants , where once you put the effort into planting your plant and spending the time and effort to get it established you want it to live. I have had great success over the years with Bordine plants surviving that it has become my go to Nursery store in the area. In this particular visit, I purchased two grapevines, Reliance and Canadice, That are a tad difficult to find and when you do will run you up to $50 per vine. At $19 a vine I feel I got a great deal and knowledge that the plants are healthy and in a good position to survive once planted. Not bad considering the alternatives. If you have a green thumb and have never been to a Bordines before you should definately check this business out. read more

I come to Bordine's different seasons. I mainly come in spring/summer for flowers to plant. Good variety and quality. I recently bought an indoor plant and purchased a pot for it. They have a great assortment of pots to choose from and prices are competitive. The last 2 years we bought our fresh Christmas tree here. They make it easy with excellent service and putting it on your car. But the prices are getting too high and I probably will go back to Home Depot next year. I used to buy fresh greens here but not anymore. These are definitely overpriced. It isn't really that hard to put some greens in a pot with some decorative branches, acorns etc. so I make my own. Their Christmas shop had a nice selection of ornaments. Good overall store but recommend watching for sales. read more

I have been buying from Bordines for 40 years. 3 years ago I moved 2.5 hours away and use my wishlist on their website before I drive down just so don't get overwhelmed and can buy exactly what I want and drive back home. Terrible experience today! There were three older ladies working the register, one had a badge that indicated she was the team lead, yet they were so incredibly rude. They couldn't even say "hello" or "thank you." There's no excuse for their lack of professionalism. They are a little pricey BUT have a fantastic selection of beautiful flowers that last.

Driving past this place so many times in the past years, i've lost count. It didn't occur to me until driving into the parking lot how actually huge this place is. I have a huge outside area with outdoor plants as well as her greenhouse. The hydrangea bushes are 23% off, according to the marquee right by the road. I see beautiful Gerbers, sunflowers, daisies, aromatic basils. So many flowers that remind me of my mother and her massively huge garden, filled with hydrangeas, zinnias, begonias, New Guinea, geranium, celosias and so much more too. There's some thing that fascinates me about the fiddle leaf and the corn plant as well. They always catch my eye whenever I see them at a nursery. The selection and options of plants here can be a bit overwhelming. There's so many different colors and variance. I guess this is the first time I've been to a nursery this big. I will have to come back here when I have more of an idea of what house plants and plants for the outside as well. I at least got a few ideas from today's visit. The prices are reasonable. read more

Bordine's usually isn't our go-to plant/flower place, but occasionally we will stop in for our annuals or house plants. I have never been disappointed with their products, but they are a bit pricey. Our flowers/plants bought here have (knock on wood) always lasted and been healthy. Staff are friendly but tend to leave you alone, unless you seek them out. Staff were also wearing masks and most customers were too. This place is massive, especially in the warmer months. Winter wise, they condense the inside quite a bit to mostly houseplants. They have some landscaping products, some stuff for your patio, and of course flowers/plants. In the back is a type of show room that includes more stuff for your patio, while the front of the store is lined with flowers/plants. Their signage for plants/flowers is helpful and they include the amount of sun and care each product needs. Our most recent visit was due to 25% off houseplants - it was a deal I couldn't miss! Tons of pretty pots for your flowers/plants. I made out with four new plant babies and the cashier wrapped them all up nicely, so they wouldn't get smushed in the car ride home. They had an assortment of succulents, tons of snake plants, and a good mix of decently matured plants vs small tiny ones. They have a free rewards member program, which is great when you are a frequent flyer. Their website also has good information for plant care, etc. all free! Their social media pages are also informative and updated with their deals and products. read more

Bordines is one of our favorite places when it comes to all things related to lawn and garden. We have also attended classes they put on to help us improve our knowledge and then results for our trees, roses, and other plants. They stock a huge selection of plants, planters, plant care products, fruit trees, vegetables an herbs. Then there are decorative items, mulch...if you need it, they very likely have it or can tell you how and where to get it. Their staff are extremely knowledgeable and care about providing the best advice to help you solve your problems or make the best choices for you. With all of that you might expect premium prices but that is definitely not the case with Bordines. Their regular prices are reasonable and, additionally, they actually have sales! read more

2021. Have gone here for years. This year very disappointed. Have gardened forever and always have pots overflowing with flowers. This year, had to remove some of Bordines flowers to replace with some bought elsewhere because they just didn't seem to grow or bloom. Was given a very large expensive pot which contained a Mandevilla Vine. I have had this same kind of plant for the last 4 years in the very same location and they have blossomed well and grew to the roof top. This plant this year didn't look health from beginning. Never dark green. Grew for a while and then all leaves fell off. Customer service manager was rude and said it was in the wrong place or I didn't know how to care for it. No offer of any resolution. Next year I will go somewhere else for my flowers. read more

O sweet Jesus, this place is awesome! My mom is an avid gardener, and shops here often and frequently. After we had breakfast yesterday, we had some time to kill before hitting the nail salon for a pedicure, so we stopped in here. Bordine's has been around for a long time, and even if your not a big gardener, there's still something here for everyone. This place is huge, so be prepared to spend a bit of time here and don't rush. From what I could see, their prices are fair, and they always seem to have sales going on as well. Huge selection of trees, bushes, plants, pots, gardening supplies, and just about anything you could imagine. My parents wanted to add an apricot tree to their "orchard" so I went searching for one at Bordine's. The information tags are useful, so I could easily find the self-pollinating variety. There were about 4-5 good quality trees to choose from, so I picked the heartiest one. Flowers were next on the list. Their greenhouse is expansive and organized, making it easy to find ones for the landscaping. Pastel colored sweet alyssum are great borders for taller plants like honeysuckle. After checking out, the apricot tree was dropped off. My parents contacted me later on to tell me they found 2 tiny apricots just starting on the tree. A happy moment. read more

Last weekend called to check inventory on plants and had to deal with grumpy old man from nursery department being unnecessarily rude. Ended up going somewhere else, just because the guy was such a jerk. Other nursery didn't act like they were doing me a favor by answering my questions and was less expensive than Bordines. I would think for the prices that Bordines charges, they would drop the rude customer service over the phone. Place is way overrated, there are other nurseries out there. read more

Seems to a common theme with Bordine's reviews with staff attitude. This Bordine's needs to get their manager's attitude in check (yes, the manager out of all people there). I was with my mom, kindly asked where I could find a particular annual. The manager stated it could be on one side and then paused. I, then, started to say we were over in that area but didn't see it when we were rudely interrupt by her saying.... "Let me finish." Both my mom and I were in shock how we were spoken to. Dare to ask where to find a particular plant and you'll get your head cut off! Clearly they don't want to be bothered! Misery likes company here, I guess. In the 30 plus years we lived in Rochester, we have spent $50,000 plus at Bordine's. Their flower prices were higher than most nurseries, but their quality and guarantee was unquestionably the best around. One year they even replaced flowers that were killed by frost which I would never have expected them to do. This year on over $500 worth of flowers we had one $6.99 flower die. When we returned to exchange it (with receipt) for a new flower we were told that they would not. Their policy was only for a seven day guarantee, which was posted nowhere except at the return desk. We also talked to a manager who rudely stated that was their policy and he didn't care if we ever returned. We had also gone to Denewith's to get some flowers that Bordine's did not have. The same flowers that we purchased at Bordine's were $4.99 there. We really didn't mind because of the past customer service ar Bordine's. Now that we know that you get nothing for 30% more, and the rude treatment, we will never be returning. We were going to return next week to purchase a $5000 patio set, but will now purchase it elsewhere. Bordine's lost that, plus all our future flower and tree purchases over what probably cost them $1.50. Advice to Bordine's: The worst thing you can tell a customer is "that's our policy". Since they were so "nice" to us, I will disclose another little secret of Bordine's. All their gardening supplies can be bought at Home Depot or Lowes for at least 50% less. We always purchased at Bordine's because we liked them and they were a locally owned business. Not anymore! Save your money. Go elsewhere. read more

I drove 45 mins to return some Christmas tree decor that didn't match the color gold I have on my tree. The rude lady at the return desk said "you're too late for Christmas returns, it ended dec 15th" and she walked away. Then I sat in the parking lot and called to talk to a manager. She made clear that was the policy. I stated they will not be in business much long with these horrible return policies compared to other stores and online. She continued to tell me she was going to accept my return but since I was being "so rude" (by giving my comparison I assume) she was not going to give a special exception to me now. Seriously, good luck with business Bordine's! You really won't be around much longer with your rude and unpleasant staff and horrible return policies! My "go-to" place when I'm looking for good quality nursery and plant material. They have a good selection of landscape supplies and also offer design and planting services. They run frequent sales and offer a reward system to earn points to use as discounts. The facility is well kept, conveniently located and has plenty of parking. Bordine's is not promoting social distancing or enforcing mask wearing of their employees. When the cashier was ringing up our purchase another woman, Andrea, came to assist. She was not wearing a mask and was incredibly rude. She told the cashier she missed ringing up one of the herbs, after ten minutes of trying to find what was missed they decided to cancel the sale and start over. In the process of re-ringing everything, Andrea was anything but gentle with our herbs and plants. When we pointed out she was destroying what we just bought she got even ruder. I've had to pick up various plants and a few trees from Bordine over the years, and it's probably the best nursery in the state. It certainly is the largest. It literally takes 20 minutes to walk from one end of the nursery to the other. It makes Walmart look like a taco stand! Needless to say, I was very pleased with the selection. If you're looking for trees especially, I'd suggest going to Bordine's first. The dwarf pear trees we purchased have been going strong for many summers, and just bloomed and look absolutely wonderful! If there ever were a nursery equivalent to Walmart, it'd be Bordine, minus the Chinese connection. Definitely check out the planter/pots section. I was very disappointed to learn today that Bordine's is not offering curbside pickup. I have not been in a building other than my home since the beginning of December. When I called to inquire, the young lady told me the item I was interested in was already on carts and that their location was not that busy. I felt this was dismissive of me and my situation as she does not know the reasons I am not doing in store shopping. I have been able to do all other shopping with other merchants, either online or curbside. I have been a customer and rewards member for many years but will definitely rethink purchasing my gardening needs elsewhere in the future. read more

If you are a gardener, welcome to heaven. I come from a family of gardeners, we have nearly 20 beds across our yard, plus vegetable gardens and anything else you can think of. I've been gardening all 26 years of my life, and while I used to loathe it, I've slowly grown to love it. Bordine's is part of the reason why I have grown to love gardening. The workers here have a passion for helping you, and many of them are as knowledgeable as you could ask for. This year we have been trying to get rid of horribly ugly bushes and decided that we wanted to replace them with a very specific hosta that grows close to five feet tall, Empress Wu. The lady who helped me (name escapes me, but they all would probably have been as helpful) ended up having a good ten minute conversation with me about the plant, and man, thats customer service. Their selection is unrivaled. I doubt you'll find such a diverse selection as well as such healthy plants in the same place as you will at Bordine's. From $300 4' circumference hostas to cheap $4 clearance plants, you'll find all your needs here. Be ready to pay a bit extra money, but you'll have an unrivaled selection of both common and designer brands. If you are a gardener, give Bordine's a shot. They have lots of coupons that come out fairly often, and they will make Bordine's the place to go for your weird requests. read more

If you love to dig in the dirt and you want a huge selection to choose from -- this is the place to go! They have a large space in which plants are layed from end to end with almost everything a Michigan gardner could need for perennials. Here is where you find the plants you mostly only see in the magazines. Their annuals selection is great too! When you go, plan to spend a least an hour walking thru there before you even decide what you want. I have to say, you should also plan to spend a little more money too.... but, you get what you pay for; quality plants, quality service, quality selection. Blown out at a Saturday at 2 pm. Selection was amazing for Mother's Day plants I was in there for but sadly no social distancing was being observed or encouraged. No flow to foot traffic or marks for checkout for outside cashiers. Outside cashiers did minimally interact behind glass and had u stay away from them which did help. However a number of workers did NOT have any masks on. How workers can be allowed to do this for an open public store is shocking given the state of the area. I regret going inside. read more

I will drive almost an hour to get my plants from here; this place is the best! It is the largest nursery I am aware of in the area and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Every time I go I think I know what I want, but the employees end up showing me better and more beautiful plants and I completely change my original plans every time! I love their perennial section; every plant has a large card behind it giving you the name of the plant, a photo in full bloom along with information like sunlight, blooming duration, and if it attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, etc. I would definitely recommend this place for people who are not knowledgeable on gardening but want to start; their staff will provide you all of the information you need. read more
