Our landscape firm recommended that we go to Telly's to select a special red maple for an area on our property that is outside where our landscaper's work. We found a beautiful specimen, bought it and contracted to Telly's to plant it. This was in September of 2025. Now seven months later, the specimen is dead. We took pictures to the store and I spoke to the person who sold me the tree originally. He told me he needed to consult an "expert". I was introduced to another man who looked at my pictures and fairly immediately diagnosed that there was something wrong with our soil and that is what killed the tree. He indicated that their warranty did not cover disease. He showed me the treatment for the soil and explained how to do it. We spent $90 on this treatment. After consulting with our landscaper, there were several things that were suggested, but here's the most important one. The tree dying so quickly would suggest that the disease may have been in the potted plant's soil WHEN it was planted. The landscaper found it unusual that if the disease were newly introduced to the plant from our soil that it would have died so quickly. At any rate, we will never buy another specimen tree like this from Telly's. This experience really felt like a "setup" between the two employees. We had to speak to the guy who knows how to "sell" this whole soil disease excuse. As consumers, we were in no position to argue. We'd suggest that you be very careful buying an expensive specimen from Telly's and risking having your money go up in smoke in just a few months time! read more

Went to look at bonsai trees. Prices are very high. Some mold and bugs on a few of them. Went to look at houseplants too. Afew were dried up and not watered. I found 1 and needed a planter. The ceramic planters were plentiful. Some were missing prices. No help to be found on a Friday at 1:20 . The 2 women up front were talking to each other. The man at the table was showing a person how to prune a bonsai. Finally found 1 on my own which was pricey and it was only 4 inches tall. Big selection of items. A lot of garden centers around here primarily focus on landscaping and flowers. But at Telly's, you can find one of the best selections of house plants and bonsais in metro Detroit! Lot's of variety in size and types. They had flowers and seasonal plants outside, house plants of every size inside. Bonsai trees are definitely their bread and butter--they had a 'bonsai hospital' and every tool and accessory for your little plant friend. Some house plants plants were a steal, while others were priced wildly out of range. There seemed to be no rhyme or rhythm. Telly's rare plant selection is a niche I have yet to see at any other garden store in Michigan, and the owners are surely dedicated to it. Telly's overcharges the heck out of them (a 6 inch variegated philodendron florida beauty goes for about $300-800 online), but I guess they can get away with it because they are the only ones with them for miles and miles. The customer service was very odd. There were 4 people working and they all seemed to be adverse to helping a customer. Didn't know answers to questions about plants or pricing, and when I got home I saw I was overcharged for a plant I bought. They offer to drill a hole in a pot for free, so that was nice. But the hole they drilled was too big. Overall a well-stocked houseplant center and worth a visit to pick up a bonsai or marvel at their variegated selection. read more

I walked through the parking lot shelves of plants. Continued on to the outdoor lot set up for their outdoor plants as well. Then the inside part of the nursery and then they have the whole outside lot for their bigger shrubs and garden items. I was happy to see the bonsai's just between the greenhouse and the outer lot full of outdoor plants. They have some amazing looking band ties grafted onto rocks and beautiful scenic landscapes. They're definitely more pricey here than other stores, even for the small ones. But the beauty and Care and designs are more outstanding than any I've seen at any other nursery or store before. This is definitely a great location if you want I really statement piece onesie in the house or outside. read more

Oh Telly's, how can my words do you justice? Everyone just do yourself the biggest favor and come check this place out. For all your plant needs whether it be indoor and/or outdoor spaces, you need to check Telly's out. Yes, they're a little pricey, but it's seriously worth it for the quality guarantee. I'm an indoor plants kind of person and all of the ones I've gotten from Telly's have been so wonderful. The staff here is so knowledgeable and beyond friendly as well. The people who started Telly's are still working constantly on the shop floor, doing every odd job, and more than happy to help you out with any and all plant needs. They are always excited to help and pair you with the best fit plants for whatever situation you are looking for. I have bought plants from here for myself and for friends as housewarming presents and have only ever received rave reviews! Telly's is absolutely delightful! For the *serious* plant collectors as well, Telly's has a whole section of "collector's plants" that makes me SO NERVOUS every time I walk through! These plants are ASTRONOMICAL in value and beyond comprehension for me to ever own, but I love looking at them all the same and every time I come here, there are new and different stock in this section just waiting to go into loving homes. Whether you are looking for teeny tiny plants, or insanely large plants, local or exotic, Telly's has them all! I've gotten into houseplants over quarantine, and have been reading about some exotic varieties that I haven't been able to find anywhere. Earlier this spring my family had gotten flowers from Telly's, so I figured I'd check it out and see what they had in terms of house plants. They had SO MANY varieties! It was really hard to not put everything in my basket- both plants and pots alike. Checkout was quick and easy. Employees were friendly. In terms of Covid-19 safety precautions everyone was wearing masks, there was plexiglass at the register. I think there were signs and x's taped on the floor to encourage social distancing. I never felt unsafe while shopping. I will definitely be back for more! read more

This place is AMAZING. Like, completely anything and everything you could want--including the very best, kindest, most knowledgeable people to help you, can be found at Telly's. New to plant life? Fear not! I literally kill everything and know nothing about plants, and they treated me with such tender care. I actually have a little hope that, with their help, the latest batch I brought home might make it until Christmas. There are classes for bonsai thingamadoodles, fairy garden supplies, pots galore, and plenty of plant-centric gift ideas. They are adept at helping make sure your plants travel safely in your car, but will deliver within a 10 mile area for a reasonable fee if needed. This store has officially upset me. A couple of weeks ago I went to this store to buy some plants (ignoring how outrageous their prices are) and was immediately hounded by this women. She told me I had to LEAVE because they were closing, I checked the website and they were supposed to be open for another HOUR. I drove 30min for this store and got kicked out by some rude women. TODAY I looked up the store again (they were supposed to be closing at 8) and drove another 30min out there. TO NO ONES SURPRISE THEY WERE CLOSED AGAIN. The sign outside of the store stated the same hours as the internet but they were closed. This store has officially lost my business, I would rather buy Home Depot plants which gnats then support this business. read more

Once again, my fellow Yelpers and their reviews helped me find a new favorite! I was out at Somerset which is not my usual neighborhood, and wanted to try to find a new houseplant and a few pots on my way home. Of course I pulled up Yelp and searched "houseplants." The reviews for Telly's made my decision and I went straight there. On a Saturday. On Memorial Day weekend. Which in hindsight might not have been the best day for some casual perusing, but it ended up just fine. Parking was crowded, and the lot is a bit small. I had to wind around and wait for several customers to leave before I was able to park. But I didn't imagine the amazing selection that awaited me! I walked in right by the bonsai garden selection, which is highlighted in my pics, and which do not do them justice. I almost felt like I was in a temple in Bali, it was so beautiful. They had so many varieties of houseplants that I don't see anywhere else. Telly's is definitely my new go-to for housewarming or hostess gifts! There's something for everyone, and staff is friendly and knowledgeable for any questions you may have. I didn't make it into the garden section, but from an outside glance and based upon the houseplant selection I would think they would have anything you could want. My test is usually to see the variety of poppies or even if they have poppies. Looking forward to more visits here, but maybe at a less busy time. Oh yes I forgot to add -- if you find a planter pot that you like but it doesn't have holes in the bottom, they will drill holes for you, just let them know. read more

Telly's is one of my favorite places in the world to go on a Saturday afternoon. I love their perennial selection and their houseplant selection - both are vast. I also love the discount section for perennials; I've created an entire perennial garden from 1/2 off and clearance plants at Telly's. Really! I've also bought some fantastic and hard-to-find houseplants, like a pitcher plant in a hanging basket and a vigorous peperomia caperata silver, not to mention the Dutch Pink Anthurium I snagged for 99 cents because it had a few brown spots on it. Oh, and there's the mango tree I bought for $15 at the end of summer. Hubby and I also bought our fruit trees at Telly's. We just planted them, so only time will tell how well they do, but we bought them at 50% off, so they were a good deal. read more

Telly's is one of my top 3 favorite greenhouses to frequent. This place is incredible! From wide variety, rare plants, large amount of pottery to choose from, and friendly staff why would you go anywhere else?! There isn't a huge lot but I'm always the person that arrives at open so don't seem to ever have issues with that. Things tend to stay round about the same spot here, which makes it fast and convenient for me. Not saying things don't fly off the shelves because the certainly do just ie: succulents with other succulents, tropicals with other tropicals. This place has plenty of succulents, out door plants/trees, tropicals, bonsi, water plants, and some of the hard to find rare ones (Thai constellation/ pink princess) This place is constantly getting in new shipments, and post a lot on IG of new/upcoming stock! Things are priced pretty decent considering types of plants they offer and for the area they are located. I would be here weekly if it wasn't for me staring to run out of room to put things. But I just keep telling my self it's brightening up the house and helping clean our air ;) read more

I was looking for a makrut lime tree and struck out everywhere until I tried Telly's - they not only had several to choose from, they had all manner of other exotic citrus trees, some I've never heard of. I have been going to Telly's for quite awhile. The issue is at the end of last season I decided I wanted Ice Plants - George even ordered some. This Spring no Ice Plants. I told George and he said they don't winter well. Now he tells me. I then asked about Erica plants and he gave me FOUR DEAD Erica plants. No new replacements for my lost Ice Plants. I would say a GREED has taken over. I am totally disappointed after all the times I recommended Telly's. I am going to take the dead Erica plants to George (one of the owners and tell him how ashamed I am for him. The universe will catch with him sooner or later. How sad! read more

I love this greenhouse it has everything. The most important thing to me when I shop at certain places is customer service.
