I just bought a pair of On Cloud sneakers with their Speed Lacing shoelaces. The knots of each shoe had to be untied (which I tried at home but couldn't) and re-knotted after the proper snug fit which I can also insert and remove my feet like a sock. The shoelaces were too short in length to tie them. I want to thank Boris for his time and patience. Initially I took my shoes to the shoe repair shop on Hayden and Shea (Scottsdale) close to my home but the owner was gruff and said he didn't have time to deal with it. This was not the first time he was like this. If he can't be bothered on a small request why should I continue to bring my shoes and leather belts to repair or re-size? I brought my favorite pair of boots to Boris for a seam rip and was very apprehensive about how how he descibed his method to fix them. I asked if he could do it "my way" but he very respectfully said he would only repair the boots the way he knows will work and look professional - so I trusted him, left the boots and crossed my fingers. He may be great at repairing shoes but don't let him touch any leather sofa cushion's, he did an amateur job at best on a cushion I took in for repair. Now I get to have someone who knows what their doing to repair Boris attempt to solve the problem. I, too, was surprised at the cost of repairing my shoes but when I got my 3 pairs back in just 1 week, I was overjoyed at the results. These were my favorite shoes and obviously, I had worn them too long without getting the necessary work done (heels worn to nubbins). But I now have my favorite shoes back in action and I will be more mindful to periodically check the wear on my shoes and get that 'ounce of protection' to ward off that 'pound of cure'. I wear high heels every day at work. They get used and abused especially with my travels. I walk a lot with my heels. I had my favorite pair needing a repair and I saw their sign on my way to work one day and decided to stop by after work. I dropped off my heels 10 mins before their closing time at 6pm and my shoes were available by 2pm next day! I really didn't it next day but he said it was a standard service. My youngest daughter is visiting from Europe and her favorite dress boots were in dire need of attention. I went in with my heels that were worn and black from having learned our first wedding dance. He only takes cash or debit cards or VISA/MASTERCARD. he told me that he would do his best to clean it but he was unsure as the heel of the shoe was profusely black and dirty. Then he told me it would be ready in a week and he would give me a call. Just so you know it is all prepaid! Be prepared. He calls me and I go to pick up the shoes from the store and my shoes on the outside literally looked brand new with no scuff marks. My photographer for my wedding pictures can attest to that! (Once I get that photo I will share :)) So I got the look of new heels but the feel of broken in makes this shoe extremely comfortable now. Went in to have him fix a small ornamental Buckle on Back of very expensive leather boots. These boots are worth paying to have a professional fix them! No luck beyond his skill set ! Unbelievable in this day and age if you say you fix leather products, etc you fix it. The job was not worth his while to small a detail to be bothered with! I love good shoes and when a repair is needed, I want the best to make them look as good as new. Found Boris on YELP! and could not be happier with the outcome. Boris is a genius and an artist. Took 2 pairs of boots to be heeled, polish and freshened, one pair of cowboy boots that are turquoise teal color, another suede BCBG boots. Boris colored matched the toes perfectly on the cowboy boots and brushed the suede to look brand new. Boris did both at a reasonable price and within a couple of days. MAGNIFICENT! I have been searching for a shoe repair shop for... 3 months. Trying to get recommendations from co-workers and new friends. Just my luck none of my co-worker had shoes repaired in the past year. I dropped my shoes off at 12:15 on Tuesday- pair of slides re-heeled and anti-skid on the soles. $35.00 I told him I needed them on Thursday 8:30 Wednesday Morning I receive a call -Your shoes are done. WHAT? Not even 24 hours later. Boris is pleasant. He asked me how I found his establishment and I told him. I took a bunch of his business cards and handed them out at work. Boris butchered my shoes and DID NOT repair them! If you could not repair the shoes, then you should have just told me. Boris butchered my shoes in an attempt to "repair" them. He charged me $20.00 ahead of time for it too. I have taken shoes/boots in for repair many times and Boris has made them look new again. I have taken a purse in to have its heavy zipper repaired. I have taken a Carhartt work jacket in to have its heavy-duty zipper repaired as well. In each instance the work was performed with high quality and great attention to detail. Boris is not inexpensive, but I do think he charges a fair price. For the type of handiwork they do it is worth the price. Most repair work can be labor intensive and time consuming. l guess it depends on how much you value your broken-in, feet-friendly shoes and boots. Personally, I do not want to part with a pair of comfortable shoes or boots if I can have them refurbished. My feet are too precious to me and I use them a lot. I'm not sure what the gripes were from other reviewers, but I have never experienced shoddy workmanship here. I love a good cobbler and was so pleased to find Boris. I have a penchant for expensive shoes and rescue dogs, not a match made in heaven!
