I have worked in healthcare for over 15 years and I have never been treated as poorly as I was today at Borland Groover. The office staff did a great job at check in but Dr. Emily Poland was rude and had terrible bedside manner. I drove 45 minutes to see her specifically and all she did was argue with me about my own symptoms. She did order imaging but did not care about anything else. She was in the room for about 5 minutes and seemed irritated to even be there. I wanted to discuss my options but all she cared about was pushing more medication and was very dismissive of my main concern. She wasted my time and money and if she doesn't like people, maybe she needs to pick another field. I would like to add that this was at the Baptist South Borland Groover location. read more

Just had my coloscopy with Dr. Maniatis at the Riverside location, Jacksonville, Fl. They did a great job. The staff was professional and the same time, had an excellent bedside manner. Come on Borland Groover get your act together. I have received 3-4 different text messages to confirm the appointment, which I did each time. Then I received the same long phone call asking all the same questions, (3rd if you count the questions from the scheduler). After the 1st call from a nurse for the medical questionaire, we were approved to skip the office visit and just come in for the procedure and reschedule from office visit to procedure. Then 2 weeks later we received anther call from a nurse. This time she had to check to see if the procedure required a pre-appointment (which was what he had initially) or possible hospitalization for the procedure. When asked why we were going over the same questions a third time, I was told that the scheduler is not qualified to ask these questions, yet they do, and that there were no notes that there was a prior nurse consultation to go over the medical questionaire. Needless to say we cancelled the appointment and are going elsewhere. read more

Although my previous encounters left MUCH to be desired, I was referred to their care again by my primary care doctor when my GI doctor at a competing GI clinic was not following through on my care (he never called me back). I asked about seeing a female doctor at the Southside location but I was told that she would not have availability for quite some time. I decided to hang up and research my options again. I found a doctor at the office closer to my house who had 5-star reviews (however, I didn't put my full faith in them because Dr. Chisolm did, too, and she was HORRIBLE). I asked to see him and was put on his schedule 2 months later. I've been his patient ever since. Dr. Kimberly listens and understands my symptoms and doesn't try to push any treatment on me. He also doesn't make me feel like a hypochondriac. He ruled out IBD (which is the reason I was going to the other GI clinic; the other doctor thought I had Crohn's but it turned out to be endometriosis). I highly recommend him. The only reason I took off a star is that I got flack from the clerk on the phone when I asked to switch doctors. They don't like you switching, even if you've had a poor experience. I had to basically plead with them which is ridiculous. read more

I was sent to Borland Groover for a baseline preventive colonoscopy because I am over 45 years old which is covered by my insurance. When I got the statement for the cost three days prior to the procedure prep it stated it was going to cost me $1800 above what insurance would cover. When I inquired why, I was told it was because the doctor marked it as diagnostic and added an endoscopy. He added in my chart I struggled with something which I never said I do during our consultation. My referral was for a baseline colonoscopy that's it! I spoke with the nurse and they said they would get the doctor to change it back to preventive. I also canceled the endoscopy that was never ordered by my primary care physician. I never got an updated statement so the day before prep I called the office again to find out if the order had been changed and what the cost would be. I was told the order had been changed back to preventive and my chart had been updated and that my insurance would cover 100%. I went ahead with the procedure. When I arrived they gave me a band that said I was supposed to have an endoscopy and when they asked what I was there for I said baseline preventive colonoscopy only. They had to change my band and folder color. That should have been my clue to run out of there because today I just received a bill for a diagnostic colonoscopy that my insurance will not fully cover $1700! I can only assume my chart was changed back or I was lied to. Either way I am very upset and will have to try to get this rectified somehow or file a complaint. read more

While the staff is friendly they have 1st appointments come in at 6 AM. But, they don't open the doors to let you in until 6. You need to remember you're getting a colonoscopy and you're still needing a bathroom ASAP but when you walk into the lobby which is open there are no bathrooms!! Since they will not let you in until 6AM (we were let in a few moments after 6). It's a race to the bathrooms with all the patients. I had to tell the lady at the check in to speak louder since my hearing aids weren't in since I'm having a procedure...again with masks on people need to speak where they can be heard. At the meeting I had with my doctor at his office the month before my procedure he must have been in a bad mood. He even tried to tell me differently than what my specialists have told me to do and put them down. Rather arrogant but his demeanor was much better the day of my procedure so I will mark it up to a bad day when we met. Next time I will request a different doctor as having a procedure is hard enough....you don't want to have to deal with a doctor who is putting your specialists down. All the nurses and anesthesiologist were awesome. I cannot give them enough praise. But they need to do something about opening the doors so you can go to a restroom or have a sign where one can go to another floor. Also, doctors need to leave their problems and egos outside. read more

Borland Groover will not be transparent with you on the fees they bill with their services & procedures. Even when asking questions about fee billing and bottom line out of pocket expenses they state one thing, take your payment and then bill you at a later date for other items. They will send your lab results out for second opinions without your consent or knowledge. You will then receive a bill from a separate doctor and you will owe them for separate fees. When you talk to the Borland Groover billing department they will state it is a bill from a separate doctor and you owe them for their fees. The Borland Groover billing department and office staff will state "you should have read the fine print. Yes, certainly understand we as patients are responsible for reading the details. However, as a patient paying up front for a procedure and asking multiple times if this is my bottom line out of pocket expense for this service & procedure. Borland Groover staying "yes", then to receive 2 additional bills asking for payment is not being fully transparent with your patients, especially when I already paid them $1000.00. I would not recommend anyone use Borland Groover! They will not have your best interests in mind! read more

The first doctor I saw didn't listen to me at all. She wrote in my chart that I had chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, and no history of polyps. What I had actually told her was that I had a history of polyps, a lot of rectal bleeding, and rectal mucus. So, when I scheduled my colonoscopy, I asked for a different doctor. That went smoothly, but they found a 3 cm mass. It has been 16 days since the biopsy was taken and NO ONE has called to give ANY information. I have called numerous times and asked that someone please call me even if it is for 5 minutes to give an update. The nurse is now annoyed that I keep calling. Today she accused me of just having called 3 days ago. YES, because I care about my health and I hoped you would too! read more

Worst practice. My mom got admitted to Baptist south and we only saw Dr. B. Marie Reid, MD Once in the week and half that my mother was there. The one time she showed up it was with a attitude and condescending talk to her that made me so angry. It saddens me that hospitals subcontract their services to large groups like this where it becomes more about the volume than the person. The hospital staff is wonderful, but these subcontracted practices are the worst, no attachment whatsoever to the hospital. read more

I saw Dr Corregidor @ Borland Groover Oct 5 for reading of liver ultrasound done by Precision Imaging. She indignantly informed me that she doesn't read ultrasounds not ordered by her. She ordered an MRI (without even looking at the ultrasound) and told me that the radiologist may use it for comparison AFTER the MRI. She asked if I've been vaccinated. When I said no, she verbally assaulted me for not having the COVID shot. To lighten the mood, I said my liver mass is probably fatty deposits because I'm a Southern granny who loves to cook. She immediately told me that I don't have to get the COVID shot or the MRI, and if I want to die from COVID or liver cancer, that's my choice. She has the bedside manner of a porcupine, very prickly. I do not trust that I would receive proper medical care from her or Borland Groover, and I wish to be referred elsewhere. She is mean-spirited and down-right hateful, and I'm not going back to her. This appointment was a waste of my time and money! read more

Listen, about this review, I have nothing negative to say about my treatment, nor the nurses, or personal. I will avoid this business at all costs on how they bill you. They will give you an estimate. Mind you, the estimate is not even close to what the bill is. We got bills from 6 different facilities, doctors etc. So my 600 dollar procedure is now in to 5k range. They cannot explain anything to you, nor do any of the bills match each other. I'm 6 months out of my very basic procedure and I'm still getting 900 dollar bills that Borland Grover cannot explain, and they want me to contact some random doctor at a random facility. They are extremely predatory and will do whatever they can to get every cent and then some out of you. If you are on a fixed income, please stay away. read more

Trying to get to your doctor is a nightmare. I was scheduled for a procedure and was left a message the doctor quit. When I asked who to contact I was informed the person who could resolve this had also quit. I have used them prior and that doctor tells me he is leaving the end of the year. If I could give them a negative rating I would. This is the worst 'conveyor belt' medical experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked through the door I was treated like a number. Paperwork consisted of a laminated bunch of papers I was told to read (without explanation). I was then called up to the reception desk and told to sign on a digital signature pad after being verbally told what I was signing for. (Apparently these were the laminated forms that were thrown at me when I first walked in. I would have thought it illegal to have a patient sign something blindly without seeing what they were signing for.) IV was done very badly so that every time I moved my arm it pinched (just told not to complain it "will be over soon"). Told the nurse that anesthesia made me nauseas sometimes which was was ignored. Wheeled to the procedure room at high speed like I was a shopping trolly at a fire sale when the attendant stopped abruptly at the door to the procedure room and said "Oh, you're getting a colonoscopy right?" When trying to get myself in position for the procedure, my leg got caught in the sheets so the nurse yanked on my legs like they were pieces of meat. I was still groggy when the doctor came to see me for 30 seconds to tell me everything 'looked normal'. When I left, I was handed a report thanking me for using them for my ENDOSCOPY. Worst of all, my report said to GET THE NEXT COLONOSCOPY IN 10 YEARS but my family history (which I had given to them) and every doctor I've ever spoken to has advised that I should get a colonoscopy EVERY 5 YEARS! I documented all of my experiences in a letter to Borland Grover back in June and to this date have never gotten a reply or acknowledgement of receipt. They are an absolute disgrace and thanks to the horror of this experience, I am also wondering if the doctor doing the procedure was as incompetent the rest of the staff in which case, was something missed? Should I believe that everything "looked normal" or has something been missed? P.S. A neighbor of mine also went to Borland Grover which resulted in a colon perforation-an absolute nightmare but that's his story to tell not mine. read more

Borland Groover is probably one of the worst to deal with. Their office staff is down right terrible, two months ago my Girlfriend was seen, they not only screwed up her prescription the first time, claiming they put it in when they didn't, they didn't even say anything until we called them nearly a week later and THEN they put the prescription in finally. She was supposed to go on Stelara nearly four weeks ago, they once again didn't put in the prescription, after calling them and going down there, they finally did. Here we are at week two since they put it in and no response. We call, they simply tell her that if she's in pain she should just go to the ER... no, you need to do your job and come through with what you say you're going to, you can't even get your billing correct. Something needs to change, and it needs to start with the office staff. read more

Really dissatisfied and disappointed with Borland Grover and De Michael Ibach after 43 day a colonoscopy and endoscopy all I have is a bill for $1500 out of packer no answers recommendations plan of treatment just let's do some more expensive testing. was just called to choose another provider ,no mention as to why ,but I have left several messages on portal with no mention ,the pathologist results were available for weeks before Borland Groover decided to post or make me aware of the results I got them from the primary instead because the blood work was done there ,I schedule a call with Dr Rai ,we spoke he hadn't bothered to look at my chart before the call ,he calls me back 15 minutes and tells me the biopsy sample was not optimal and tells me a reschedule would be needed in 2 months ,after several attempts to reschedule they tell me I need to move on to another doctor ,sorry I wouldn't allow Borland clip a toenail at this point ,The Jacksonville branch I would avoid at all cost they really are a lame bunch read more

I was referred to this clinic by my ENT because of issues that I'm having swallowing breathing and chronically coughing and was being sent there for some testing to be ordered and was declined service because I am able to wear a mask do too the issues that I am being seen for and the reason why I was referred there so definitely not a doctor that I would recommend seeing if they're not going to see somebody who is unable to wear a mask due to the issue that they're coming to see them for. read more

I've been here with my hubby for several appointments and he also had to have the unfortunate colonoscopy procedure done. I've also taken my mother-in-law to one of her appointments here. We never had to wait more than about 10 minutes for each of the appointments. I do like a doctor's office that runs on time, at least for the most part. The entire staff here is absolutely wonderful. It was a PA who saw my husband for his appointments prior to his colonoscopy and he was very thorough and nice. Made sure to answer all of our questions. Dr. Groover performed the actual procedure. As anxious as hubby was, he said afterwards it was like a walk in the park. All that anxiousness for nothing. While hubby was still "napping" after the procedure, Dr. Groover brought me in and explained everything to me. He's a great doctor with a great bedside manner. My internal medicine doctor has been hinting for the past couple of years about sending me to a GI doctor. I've managed to put it off and I'll keep putting it off for as long as I can. But, when he finally insists on me going or if something happens, The Borland Groover Clinic is definitely the place I will go. read more

After a visit to the ER back in December, they recommended I see a GI Specialist to determine the renewal of the lease terms my landlord (body) was willing to give to it's tenant (gall bladder). Well, when I was able to avoid the thing that got me in that position in the first place, I also avoided making the appointment right away. Finally got an appointment after a referral from a friend and met Dr. Gopal at the Borland Groover Clinic. I was hopeful for an efficient doctor's visit since they had sent me the paperwork ahead of time to fill out at home prior to my appointment. No such luck. However, I was very impressed with Dr. Gopal and look forward to working with him to resolve my tenant's issues. And it takes a lot for me to be impressed by a doctor. Having had more than my fair share of pokes, prods and exams, I know what I like and what I'm willing to put up with. read more

I was having terrible stomach pains and was referred to Boreland Groover. Dr. Misra and staff were very kind and understanding. And thorough on a treatment plan. I ended up needing a procedure done and was told when I scheduled the procedure "you will have no out of pocket because you have two insurances" On the day of my procedure I was reassured no balance was due. A month later I got a bill in the mail for $789 and change. I called the clinic and they told me they would send it back to insurance to cover. They called every 2 weeks to obtain payment. And I reassured them I would not be making a payment due to what I was told previously. I got a call today and was told that both my insurances applied the cost to my deductible and the $789 was correct and I needed to pay it. I asked why I wasn't made aware of this on the day I scheduled and the receptionist advised "usually when someone has two insurances we don't do an estimated cost cause the secondary covers what the first one doesn't but this wasn't the case for you" I "politely" told her that they needed to reevaluate their procedures because had I known this tidbit of information and possible $800 out of pocket cost I would have looked at alternatives. Moral of the story- this clinic is mediocre at best when it comes to managing finances and billing. Make sure to request it; because they'll bite you when they can. read more

As some previous reviews stated, this is the worst clinic you will ever come across. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere. Never did I had such a terrible experience with a doctor who saw me for 10 min WITHOUT an exam and paid $70 for her precious time. My visit could have been by phone or video considering the current situation as she did not examine me, but $70 for 10 min. Why not? Right! Gastroenterologist with long nails, Dr. DiTeodoro. Do you want a doctor with long nails to even touch you. Unhygienic and unnecessary especially during the pandemic even if you have 5 gloves on. Furthermore, office manager on Belfort Rd disregarded my complaint stating I was happy when I left their office. You could actually read my face expression as I left shocked and needed to gather my thoughts to process what just happened. I paid $70 for nothing! read more

I recently had an appointment here for a colonoscopy. As unpleasant as the thought of that is.... The facility and the staff was excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. They answered all my questions. I do not remember names of specific people but all were as accommodating as they could be. You here so much negativity about medical facilities these days and I thought I should share a positive one. The doctors are a five-star. They do a very very good job. The problem is the PAs will not help you the way they should. If you call twice they get upset. My wife is very sick. I'm begging for some kind of help. The people that answer the phone or very polite, but can't do anything without the PH consent the doctors themselves do not actually see the patient now from my understanding they do the endoscopies and whatever else has to be done I just hope the PAs understand we need them and we need your help and not to get mad at us because we asked for something or ask for help Berlin and Grover is a great clinic. I hope the PAs understand this in. Please help me. read more

I've only been here once but I will be back. Here was my experience from my recent visit. (1) Everyone I encountered on the day of the procedure was polite, friendly and professional. This is important, especially when you are new to a facility. (2) The employees exuded confidence and made sure I was at ease in all stages of the procedure. At each moment I felt that confidence and it made me feel comfortable with the thought that these people know how to treat patients. They even laughed politely at my bad nervous jokes. (3) The procedure went exactly as planned and was over very quickly (from my groggy perspective at the time). (4) After the procedure a nurse stayed with me to ensure I was comfortable and ready to leave the facility. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience at Borland Groover on Belfort Rd. Thank you for taking the time and effort to treat me like a human being and not just another patient rolling through the facility. You have an excellent staff at this facility. read more

Money hungry clinic. Most stressful experience I've ever had w a specialist. Will never recommend to my worst enemy.

My husband was a patient Borland and Groover, actually he was a surgical patient. About six weeks after his surgery he had extreme abdominal pain, diarrhea and lost 15 lb in 10 days. I tried on several occasions to get him into the office as an emergent appointment and I could not take him for almost 8 days. Obviously we couldn't wait till the 8th day so we went to another gastrointestinal doctor. I find the office was very uncaring, and did nothing to try to have him seen he was very very sick and to me eight days was unacceptable. We will never be back. read more

While on my first visit they had it together, the scheduling department Does Not. I made an appointment in December for an MRI on 1/17/22. I did not receive a reminder appointment nor instructions as to eat or drink, etc before and I forgot to call on Friday. I call today the 17th and they say yes you have an appointment, but the other department didn't get approval for insurance. Someone definitely dropped the ball was their statement. Keep in mind they don't open until 8 am and my appointment is 9 am. Oh sorry. Call my primary and insurance and it's their responsibility. They Do Not have it together on imaging. Make sure you call to confirm. No more images there for me. Pain in the a--! I also live an hour away. read more

If you are looking for a Gastroenterologist with even a SMALL percentage of bedside manner DO NOT go here. My daughter had been sick for months and we were finally referred and seen by this group (for all of 10 minutes). Procedure was scheduled for a week later. Relieved to get some answers/treatment, my daughter struggled through the prep and showed up for her procedure on a Saturday. She was denied her procedure that day because she could not urinate (for a pregnancy test). This child had been vomiting with diarrhea for nearly three months. No... She probably wasn't going to be able to urinate. Long story short, we got her back home (hour and a half away); she was back in the ER the next day. The ER doctor called over a specialist and they admitted her immediately. Her hemoglobin had dropped to an 8.2 and she was still bleeding. Spent 4 days in the hospital - thanks, but NO THANKS. Side note: this review IN NO WAY is a reflection on the office staff - they were amazing and very sympathetic to our situation. Doctor; however, needs to consider switching to a coroner or mortician. read more

I LOVE Borland Groover's Dr. Gopal! He's kind and caring and VERY professional and qualified. The problem is trying to get someone to return a call - The "Callback" system never works (4 times this week), and the HOLD time is sometime between 'forever' and 'infinity.' All I want are the results of a biopsy - easy enough right? Nope - getting scheduled is easy when you're referred by your Primary, getting seen in a timely manner is a breeze, the doctor and staff are AMAZING - but by gosh, if you have to get your results? - HA - forget it. I am even using the 'patient portal' - and all of my test results or messages simply say "No History Entered." - Hope I'm okay! read more

Wow! The team at the Belfort Road location was phenomenal! They made me feel as though I was the only patient there. (I was there for a colonoscopy) They spent time answering all my questions and concerns, and made me feel very, very comfortable, calming my nerves.
