Get the fries! So good!!!! Finally got my child to try fried with bacon cheese n ranch and she loved it. They made it great. Wish bacon was more crispy but man this side dish was my meal and such a treat. Hubby said burger was dry but he went back and asked for Mayo and that helped he said. No hot sauce, he wanted something spicy. The Mexican food truck had some they let him have. That was nice. Daughter did not like the grilled cheese. We all tried it and it was way too oily tasting. But we aren't a fan of sourdough. Still it was really oily. The Mac n cheese on the grilled cheese didnt have flavor. Just more oily taste. We didn't eat it. But heads up if you like these type of grilled cheese you'll like it. A lot of places serve them oily and on sourdough like Panera bread etc. So just because we don't like that style doesnt meant you won't. She ate a lot of my fries and hubby went back and got another burger and she ate half. So all good. The fried Oreos weren't that good sadly. No crispy to it. More just soft and sugary. We like the crispy outer layer type. Will 100% bee line to this truck for the fries though. Sadly no tots. Would love to try the tots one day. I've asked the kids school to please bring this truck back for their school event. They use to have it but didnt last year. Well just got the line up for this year, they'll be back!!!! This was the second year we used Born in Brooklyn food truck for our end of the year senior sunset dinner. They have been very accommodating and provided awesome options for our students and staff. This year's choices were a grilled chicken sandwich, grilled cheese meatball sandwich, veggie burger, or Captain America burger. All came with fries or tots and a canned soda. The line went quickly and the guys working were fun and interacted with us. We had about 80 people and everyone loved it. I had the grilled cheese meatball sandwich and couldn't finish it because it was huge. It was so good! And the tots were perfect. I know we plan on using them again next year if they're available. I've tasted their pesto tots before and I really liked their bacon ranch fries--right amount of saucy and crispiness on both. Recently for employee appreciation, my work had the Born in Brooklyn food truck roll in to treat us to some great eats for lunch. They were here for a set amount of time. Because it was pre planned and paid for, we had a limited menu to choose from, but they were great choices. I didn't eat anything while at work, but I did take home two burgers for later. I figured Becky might've wanted one for dinner that night. She didn't, so I had one Saturday night and the other one on Sunday. They both reheated very nicely in the air fryer. I put the burger on the top rack for 4 minutes, then moved it to the bottom rack for 2 more while the bun and fries took over the top rack. Boy Blue: A fat burger infused with bacon and bleu cheese crumbles then smothered with more bleu cheese served on a pretzel bun. Reheated this was a really good burger. I can only imagine how great it would be fresh off of the flat top. The pretzel bun was fantastic. I added lettuce and pickles. Yum! Captain America: Also a fat burger. This one infused with bacon and cheddar cheese then smothered in even more cheddar and also served on a pretzel bun. I reheated this one in the same fashion and it was delicious. The fries were really good. Thin cut, fresh, crispy on the outside soft in the center. They reheated very nicely in the air fryer also. I really don't know if I liked one better than the other. They were both equally delicious in their own unique ways. Just depends on what kind of cheese mood that you're in. In addition to the Boy Blue and Captain America we could choose the Yo Philly or the Dirty Bird. Also tots rather than fries if we so desired. I've attached a picture of the menu so you can see their descriptions. Coworkers who had the Yo Philly and Dirty Bird raved about them as did those who had the burgers. Forget about it!!! Don't even worry about hiring another food truck. Born in Brooklyn was by far the best tasting and friendliest group to work with. We made a delicious menu with Scott ,the owner. Half sandwiches (Dirty Bird,Grilled Mac and Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, Grilled Cheese Sandwich) with exotic tater totes and a scrumptious fried Oreos were all so tasty. We hired them for a small party, and our guests were stuffed and had so many compliments. The best compliment I heard was from a Sicilian friend who said that this was the most authentic red sauce he had ever had. Reminded him of home in Brooklyn where he grew up. We loved everything that came out of the little window and appreciated all the hard work that went into making such great meals for our friends and family. The food trunk conveniently came to La Jolla near my boyfriends apartment complex so we went there for lunch. Food We both got the marinara meatball grilled cheese sandwich and my boyfriend also got two wet dogs (which are just hot dogs) and a squirt (they have canned soda and water). I wanted to like this truck but I didn't get quality food. I went to Civita Park Tuesday food truck night. It was fairly busy. I got the San gennarro which is a spicy sausage served on hero bread. The sausage was so charred it was black. Really disappointing. I did enjoy the philly sandwich though. If this is what Brooklyn tastes like, I am in! No seriously, I was fortunately enough to run into this terrific food truck at the Burning Beard Brewery on a Saturday afternoon. I am huge fan of grilled cheese sandwiches, and when I learned they put the owners mother's meatball recipe in a fine grilled cheese sandwich, well there was no twisting my arm. The grilled cheese sandwich was what I expected and then some. It had a lot of god things going on. First, they did an excellent job developing a great crust on the bread for not only that crunchy crust but also for great color. The pretzel bread was a great choice for this grilled cheese. I loved its flavor. Secondly, the meatballs were outstanding. Mama certainly has a winner of a recipe. They had a great moist and soft texture but the meatballs still had that good meaty density. Their flavor were fabulous. Seasoning was spot on and their flavor was enhance with the marinara sauce that accompanied them. The sauce had a nice balance between a subtle sweetness and bit of acidity. My favorite park about the sauce was that they did not skimp on the herbs. Finally, the mozzarella cheese was not only fresh and delicious, but they plenty or I should say, just the right amount of it. It tasted great and I did not miss that slice of traditional yellow cheese. I forgot to mention, I also had the tater tots with my wonderful fancy meatball grilled cheese. The pretzel tasted fried and burned. Not like the ones you will find at Yankee stadium or the street cart. Maybe if it was a little less well done it could have been better. I tried to eat it. Got through maybe a quarter of it and had to stop. I really tried. The Meatball and mozzarella grilled cheese was good. I would have it again, but it wasn't amazing. The bread was a good twist on a typical grilled cheese. Again, I would order this again or try their version of a meatball parm (that wasn't in the menu that day.) Caught a chance to try this truck out in Balboa Park's summer food truck rally. I enjoyed the Captain America burger ($11) and the large seasoned fries ($7). This food truck showed up outside my work today, which was perfect because I did not bring a lunch. I've been craving a philly cheesesteak for a while and they had one on their menu! Perfect. The combo came with a side (I got fries) and a drink for $13 which isn't too bad considering the amount of fries and the size of the sandwich. Fries were seasoned well, but definitely could have been crispier. Now the cheese steak...let's just say I've had way better. The redeeming part of the sandwich is the bread. Soft roll that was toasted to perfection. I think there was butter on it too, so that always helps. The meat was pretty dry and the cheese and peppers/onions were okay. Honestly, a lot of the other food that I saw people order looked a lot better so maybe it was just an off day for the cheese steak. One of my coworkers got the same thing and was in agreement. Born in Brooklyn came to a corporate event at my company yesterday and were a huge hit! I'm originally from Pennsylvania, and have been to Brooklyn more times than I can count, so I felt right at home with their New York style fare. The menu was honestly impressive for a food truck by way of size, quality, and creativity. They had deep fried oreos which were probably the best part of the entire party. And a generous 3/order was well appreciated. There were definitely vegetarian friendly options, which I appreciate, as a lot of New York style food can be meat heavy. Cheesesteaks, burgers, etc. The variety of tator tot's left nothing to the imagination and definitely sparked my creativity for that bag of plain old tots I have hanging out in my freezer. Everyone who was working on the truck was also super friendly and answered any and all questions we had. I really appreciated their friendly service, which was also definitely very reminiscent of Brooklyn.
