We rented this food truck months in advance for a private family event, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Communication leading up to the event was already frustrating because we had to repeatedly ask for the invoice and confirmation of the agreed pricing. The contract clearly stated that the package included unlimited food and snacks for 4 hours. When the truck arrived, the employee named Chip was rude and dismissive to several of our family members. One of my uncles politely asked if he could grab a snack that was displayed, and Chip responded with, "You already have your hands on it, you might as well grab it." We later found out he spoke similarly to other guests as well. Things became even more uncomfortable when we asked for clarification about what was included. Chip then stated that if we wanted to continue eating, we would need to pay additional money, even though our contract clearly stated unlimited food and snacks were included in the price we had already paid. He made it seem like the snacks being displayed were separate and not covered, which was never explained beforehand. The entire interaction felt rushed, unprofessional, and honestly embarrassing in front of our guests. Instead of arguing further during our event, we chose to let him leave early. Overall, the customer service and lack of professionalism completely took away from what should have been a fun experience for our family. read more

Been here twice, here's what I got: 1. Kalua pork bowl- TLDR- ok? But not for me- It was smothered in super sweet BBQ sauce. More like Texas pulled pork over rice. It's described as served with royal bbq sauce but like I said, it was smothered. Not a fan. 2. PBP burrito- TLDR- Actually likely the worst burrito I've ever had- Im not exaggerating this was like 90% black beans 10% pork. The sauce is sweet, and bbqy it might actually be the same bbq sauce they put on the kalua pork bowl. It's said that it has plantains and orange mojo, I didn't detect any trace. Because of the volume of beans it fell apart halfway through. Think of a can of Boston baked beans wrapped in a tortilla. I'd usually return to check out the non pork items before posting a scathing review but I'd rather not. read more

I had the Huli Huli chicken bowl. The rice was cooked perfectly, the cabbage was fresh and crisp. The chicken was good. However, I think its the same chicken used for all dishes so it want marinated and cooked in the Huli Huli sauce, no deduction here. For people saying he staff is rude, what was once seen as normal is now viewed as rude. to me this is the equivalent of sending a text or IM and not starting off with "Good Morning". What we ordered: One order of Carne Asada Nachos One order of Fries The one good thing that I can say about the food is that it absorbed the alcohol and filled us up (that is the only reason for the second star) But, as far as enjoying what we ordered, we did not. The chips in the nachos felt really cheap, and the cheese tasted canned. The chips and cheese remind me of something I might get at a high school cafeteria or a movie theater. The fries were overly saturated in oil; or as my wife said, "horrible". The sauce is incredible and never overwhelming (neither in amount nor flavor). The fries are out of this world and unlike anything I've tried anywhere else. The first time I had the privilege of ordering a fish burrito, all the food we ordered was hot, and the burrito's tortilla was the perfect ratio of soft and crispy. Mouth watering, seriously. On our second excursion, the following month, the fish burrito wasn't as hot, the tortilla was not crispy, and sadly was actually still a bit on the cool side. I could tell it was being rushed. And I write this point of feedback not to steer anyone away, but instead to share that even these details were not enough to reduce their rating in the slightest. I've had many fish burritos in the SD area and this is still one of the best, in my opinion. I'm already looking forward to next time! read more

We had Beach Eats at a neighborhood street party. They have an interesting menu of Mexican and Hawaiian food that works. Food: I ordered the Huli huli chicken bowl. It was huge and I didn't think I would be able to finish it, but, I did. It was so good. It came with little packets of sriracha which gave it a little kick. Not a lot of veggies, but you get a lot of chicken and rice. My kids loved the quesadilla. It was a big portion and they fought over the left overs for lunch today. My neighbor ordered the chips and salsa and fries for the kids to share. Another reviewer complained about the fries being "covered" in oil- not in our experience! The chips and fries were nice and crispy. I hate it when chips or fries are "wimpy" so these were amazing! So if you're like me and you want to be able to dip your chip or fries, Beach Eats has the ones for you! The kids loved it! My husband "allegedly" ordered the fish and chips. I saw him pick up the food and I never saw the food again. I think he liked it. He never offered to share. I hope we have them back again at another neighborhood soirée! read more

Had the chance to try this food truck at one of his lunch stops. As soon as I approached the truck I could smell the freshness of the food coming out of the kitchen. The menu options listed on the window was pretty good, from burgers to burritos and tacos to rice bowls. These guys set up shop at Pumpkin Station on Highland Valley Road today, and my husband and I both bought our meals from them on our lunch break. Fish tacos: fresh, hot, tasty, and I loved their green salsa and fresh lime wedges PBP burrito: out of this world! The pork was tender, and the plantains added just the right amount of sweet to the savory. Plus, it was gigantic, and could have been two meals. Three days before my wife's 50th birthday extravaganza... the food truck I hired seven months earlier cancelled on me. I immediately went into scramble mode. As luck would have it, I found Chip @ Beach Eats! It would take more than a lengthy Yelp review to truly express my gratitude for this man. He replied to my voicemail within an hour. He adjusted his schedule to accommodate ours. Chip offered up his full menu and reassured us that everything would work out perfectly. AND IT DID! Our guests raved about how fantastic the food was. As the host, I didn't get the chance to sample much... but when at least half your guests specifically call out just how great their meals were... you gotta know they nailed it!
