    PBP burrito

Been here twice, here's what I got: 1. Kalua pork bowl- TLDR- ok? But not for me- It was smothered in super sweet BBQ sauce. More like Texas pulled pork over rice. It's described as served with royal bbq sauce but like I said, it was smothered. Not a fan. 2. PBP burrito- TLDR- Actually likely the worst burrito I've ever had- Im not exaggerating this was like 90% black beans 10% pork. The sauce is sweet, and bbqy it might actually be the same bbq sauce they put on the kalua pork bowl. It's said that it has plantains and orange mojo, I didn't detect any trace. Because of the volume of beans it fell apart halfway through. Think of a can of Boston baked beans wrapped in a tortilla. I'd usually return to check out the non pork items before posting a scathing review but I'd rather not.

We used them for my son's 7th birthday party! Chip was early as a matter of fact couldn't have been better timing as I was concerned how much room we needed for the truck he pulled up. Everyone raved about the food! No joke! The service from beginning to end was impressive. Jennifer Saint is truly a saint everything was seamless from menu planning to payment. We also used her to book sweet treats food truck instead of cake at the party! Kids LOVED it and I did too no cake cutting or cupcakes mess! Any event I wouldn't hesitate to use them again For reference we chose a menu to appeal to all Chicken chopped salad Cheeseburger Chicken tenders California burrito

Carne asada fries . So yummy
    Rodney G.

This past Tuesday, I had a chance to try these Carne asada fries from Beach Eats . The person that was working that day was Niyla. She was the most friendliest person that I met working on a food truck. I just want to say these were some really good Carne asada fries. If you get a chance and find this food Truck , it's a must try. I'm looking forward to trying some more of their food. Thanks again Beach Eats.

We had Chip come out for a community event. All of the food was made fresh and it was very delicious! I highly recommend Beach Eats for any event. We hope to have him come out again.

Great grilled fish taco, guacamole, salsa, & chips

We enjoyed an excellent grilled fish taco, and also guacamole and chips. The spice was welcome, service fast, and a reasonable price ($8 for two tacos). Highly recommended!

I really like the Garlic Ahi sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The other amazing thing they have is banana pudding, which runs out pretty quickly. Depending on how busy it is, food can take a while to prepare but that means it's fresh upon receiving. There is some seating available for dining in but I mostly get take out, and it seems everyone else does as well. The tables are usually clean and tidy, and the area is a bit small and cramped but still plenty of seating. The only issues I have is that the menu prices don't seem to match across their physical menu, ordering platforms, and what you actually get charged. I believe what I order is listed somewhere around $13 on the physical menu but I always am charged closer to $16. They also do run out of stuff, so have a back up order in mind just in case. Overall a pretty tasty place despite being a bit pricey and unreliable in terms of availability.

I prefer Homestyle Hawaiian over L&L. And since it's been years that the National City location has closed- I finally came to another location. Since I just had my temporary crown installed and half of my face was still numb from the local anesthesia- I was craving something filling, something homemade, and soft to chew. I've been craving a Loco Moco and just didn't wanna make one myself. It's a no frills dining area. Booth bench that stretches an entire wall and chairs. The fresh made beef patty, lightly seasoned was big and juicy. Simple gravy with sautéed mushrooms and onion slivers. Wish the onions were grilled a bit more, than served raw. Since this is a lunch plate meal- you'll get a scoop of white steamed rice & creamy Mac & cheese salad (with that lil tang of apple cider vinegar). I didn't realize the patty was sitting on top of more rice - thank gawd! LOL. And the egg yolk was nice and runny to slop up all the yum yums in. Washed it down with a lilikoi lemonade.

With the Aloha Spirit on my mind lately, Leilani's Cafe had caught my attention. I have no idea which spirit may have been looking out, but we pulled right up to an open street parking spot nearly in front of the place. The blessings didn't end there. There was no line to order when I walked in & we found an open table immediately. But that changed shortly after my order was in. It got super busy with a line out the door to order. I had ordered the Hilo Loco Moco & Spam Musubi Leilani's Style. My fiancée got the French Toast. The food didn't take too long, as I was just ahead of the kitchen rush. It was all quite yummy & decent portion sizes. Trying some of my fiancée's French Toast, that ended up being the most interesting dish to me. I've never had that made with sweet Hawaiian bread before. & now I'm convinced that's the best way to make French Toast. So, on a day when Hawaii happened to be on my mind, Leilani's Cafe was a nice taste of the islands. Undoubtedly cheaper & more convenient than the 2,610 miles flight out to Honolulu. Though that is certainly a trip worth taking...
