This is a review for the food truck that was selling food at a UC San Diego event. The burger and the pulled pork sandwich was okay; would have preferred my buns for both sandwiches to be toasted -- this sets you apart from all the other places that serve cold buns. Also wish the little tray of waffle fries was bigger.

The suite at Liberty Public Market that used to house Stuffed! is now the brick and mortar location of the American Flavors food truck. They have a similar but slightly smaller menu than what the truck offers. Burgers, hot dogs, and hot sandwiches (chicken, pulled pork) were the featured items. All of the hamburgers are served with two all-natural Angus beef patties and two slices of cheese so you are getting a lot of meat and paying a commensurate price. I picked the Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of seasoned waffle fries ($12). The smoked pulled pork came with a couple of pieces of bacon topped with a BBQ sauce, pickles, and a house-made slaw. The sauce was more sweet than tangy, but it complemented the moist pork very well. The waffle fries were addictive as I could have eaten a large basket of them. For quality and value, I gave this experience a 3.5 star rating.

The first signs of disappointment in my "Blue bacon burger"

Well... In all my years I've never had bad or disgusting food off a truck until today. I really don't know where to start. I ordered up The "Blue bacon burger" Which List out what's on it, blue cheese crumbles, Bacon, spring mix, onions, tomatoes. The burger turned out to be more of a vegetarian burger with blue cheese spread. There wasn't any bacon that I could see or taste and there wasn't much of a meat patty at all. The meat Patty reminded me of a big Mac that you buy at McDonald's very thin and very small. It was more of a vegetarian blue cheese burger because the only thing you could taste was the blue cheese spread extremely overpowering and I like blue cheese. Then let's move onto the price. it's listed out at $12.50 but when I paid the total was $14.22 which of course I didn't realize until after I paid. (My Fault, I should've had them cancel it right there) I just got the burger no sides which means they charged an extra dollar for The privilege of me using my credit card. I wish that was posted or explained to me so I could've paid cash! I definitely am soured on the food truck experience now and won't be going back to a food truck for a very long time. I could've got a sandwich from inside my work for third of the price.

    Irresistible fries!

It doesn't get any better than this! We had a little community gathering and they RAVED about the fries and all the food! Ornela was great when coordinating and I could tell she was busy but made time to make sure we were set for our event and even moved some things around to make sure we had the right truck! They got to the event ahead of schedule, set up was fast, they helped us organize the tickets efforts so we kept count along the way of how many guests we were serving and it was a HUGE HIT! My whole team (Team Kolker Real Estate) is looking forward to more events with their food trucks in the future!

Daily special! Pulled pork sandwich with sriracha aioli with a side of truck made chips!

Wow, this food truck really changed my mind about how pulled pork sandwiches should be! Another food truck that came to my workplace, American Flavors was a new sight here. Expect to spend around $10-15 on a sandwich or burger along with some fries. I ended up getting the daily special which was a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun with Sriracha aioli which also came with truck made chips. This pulled pork sandwiches was bar none, the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. The pork was cut into thick chunks that were charred and smokey like a perfectly grilled rack of barbecue, stripped off the bone and cut up into amazing pulled pork. Throw in thick little bacon bits and you've got a sandwich made in heaven. I only give four stars, I would give 4.5 if I could because the chips were not as amazing as the pulled pork sandwich. I wanted to delve into the mystery of their truck made criss-cut fries but for an extra $3? My frugal self could not push myself to do it. Next time, I'm getting a grilled cheese pulled pork sandwich, YES CHEESE WITH THIS SANDWICH, I know I'm already excited too.

The chip were a bonus yeah!

Today I tried there sliders and they were a mouth full! The first one was the chicken sliders and it came with a soft slider bun with blue cheese and buffalo sauce sooo yummy , the the slider I got was the pulled pork with bacon OMG it was sooo tasty and full of bacon and love , the tasty slider completely took me for a falling in love again with BBQ pulled pork sandwich I had back in high school high , wow that's how I felt so I'm happy excellent customer service and food I'll be back !

Food is average at best, not really worth the price. Won't be returning anytime soon.

Onion rings were ok. Nothing to rave about honestly. The seasoning on it made them seem nicer but I think it just took away from a good ol fashioned onion rings, they also added a seasoning to the ranch to pair with the onion ring and I wasn't a huge fan. Next time I definitely want to try a different burger and opt for the elote fries or no fries at all. I'm just happy to finally be able to cross this place off my list of must tries, lol. Everything is fresh, cooked to perfection, and explained very well when brought to the table. I forgot the name of the burger I tried, but it was chicken based that was like a curry infused (it was yellow) and I thought it was a nice edition to the menu. Side note, you might want to wear gloves or eat with knife and fork as you'll be using a lot of napkins for sure (haha) I will continue to show the love for this place and enjoy this as one of my "special treat meals". Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Its San Diego time again!…read more I have been to the original Hodad's in Ocean Beach, so during a staycay in the San Diego Gaslamp, I said I gotta hit up this location on Broadway. The portions are big and the quality of the food is very good. The breading and seasoning on the chicken was tasty AF. Secondarily, the burgers are 1/4 lb and a single is plenty for a normal person. Lastly, the rings were thicc and GBD. Unfortunately, we sat in traffic for 3 hrs from OC, when it normally takes 1 1/2 hrs: We were really hungry, and Hodads met our needs. Regarding the ambiance, its a bit grunge but np for me. The name has a whole lot of nostalgia in SD. The service was friendly & warm. Our food came out quickly. The only downside was the chicken & rings needed some kinda sauce, but otherwise everything else was great. Would def return the next time I am in the area.

Pros: I got the half-pound burger with fries and it was really good overall. The burger was super juicy, well-cooked, and had that classic hearty, satisfying taste you want from a solid burger spot. The portion size was generous, especially with the half-pound patty, and the fries were a great side to round out the meal. The location in Pacific Beach is also a big plus. It's in a great area with lots going on, so it's easy to grab food and walk around afterward or make it part of a beach day. The overall vibe of the spot feels casual and fitting for PB--nothing overly fancy, just good comfort food done right. Cons: Since it's in a busy beach area, parking and crowds can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time you go. It's more of a casual grab-and-go or quick dine-in spot, so don't expect a sit-down restaurant experience with a lot of space or quiet seating. During peak beach hours, it can also get pretty busy. Verdict: Overall, Rocky's Burgers is a great spot in Pacific Beach if you're craving a juicy, satisfying burger in a fun beachside area. The half-pound burger and fries hit the spot, and it's a solid choice for a casual meal before or after hanging out in PB.
