The restrooms are clean which is always a plus for a park. BRCP, has many benches/tables for gatherings close enough to where your kids can play. The playground is pretty large for the older kids. There is a little one for the much smaller children off to the side. What I like about this playground though is the flooring. They have this very cushioned floor instead of wood chips. When our kids trip or fall, they don't get badly hurt and they for sure don't get splinters or wood chips stuck in their shoes. Behind the tables is a basketball court that you can easily see from the tables if in case you're worried about your kids running off to play. It's easy to keep an eye on them from there. Beyond what I've already mentioned, I don't know what else this park has to offer because it's as far as we have gone for play dates or birthdays parties at the park. It's a nice place for kids to play. I only wish parking wasn't so limited.

We did the serrano road and line shack loop, which was about 3.4 miles total. We arrived at around 8am, and spent about 1.5 hours on the hike, walking a moderate pace. I really liked that how this trail was easily marked and flat. There was also plenty of shade, on the trail, so even as the sun came up, it was still pretty cool. There's some elevation on the trail, but overall, I'd say it was pretty easy to causally walk and talk. When you get to the peak of the trail, you can oversee the Foothill Ranch area, and it looks gorgeous! We followed the parking instructions on AllTrails, which led us to a church parking lot, which connects right to the trail. I did see that this park has other more difficult hikes, so I'd definitely go back for another one!

Milage is from 2miles to up to 10 miles, and even more as the trails connect another major trail system. Parking is easy, at the base, there's a pay machine..3$ i think. Grear price, as the money is used for clean up and maintenance. No pets on trails. Luckily, a ranger caught two families and were cited! Yes! And two others cited for non pay of Parking. The high point trails are steep and difficult, for walkers joggers runners family or couples and for the renegade singles, plus be carefulwith bikers... they must slow down for you ! Not the other way! So be outspoken! Plus horses are occasional seen. . Get there early, as Parking gets full. The views are splendid and serene. Bring water, it can be frustrating as not water on the trails. But there is a water full station and bathrooms before entering. Clean trails, fun trail, and a trail that can be demanding if you wish it to be . It crosses over to other side of the foothills, and can be wildly exciting.

Right as you step into the park, you'll notice several benches spread out amongst the grass. There are no covered patio type tables here, but the benches are right next to trees that offer relief from the sun. The kids' playground is visible from the parking lot, with a section for the younger tots and a separate adjacent area for the older children. If I was a child, I would really enjoy this playground. It's a fairly good sized play area for an "older" park. Next to the playground are the tennis courts and next to that the restrooms. Past the restrooms and tennis court is a basketball court. I believe there is a field beyond the area but I am not positive as I haven't been past the restroom area in several years. This park is clean and many people walk their dogs around here and have hangouts with their little ones. It's a park where I feel comfortable and safe to bring my family. That's always a plus.

When we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday morning, the paid parking lot was already full. There are very few parking spaces overall in the paid $3 lot. We ended up as Ralph's customers that morning and found a couple of last-minute items that we needed before starting our hike. It was a nice and cool morning with a slight breeze, which was perfect to kick off our hike. We opted to take the easy trail, Borrego Canyon Trail. There is a lot of soft sand through out parts of the trail, similar to a beach like sensation for your walking pleasure. It also felt like a magical forest during some areas with trickling streams. We also experienced some parts full of various sized rocks. This is NOT a child- friendly trail for little ones. As we approached parts that were more desert like, we got closer to the red rocks. There was much anticipation to the end and the trail concludes with what feels like a small dead end as you gaze into the view of the towering red rocks. Going downhill was much quicker and fun. It was an easy trail with some sections that forced me to go slower as I didn't want to slip on some small rocks. There was so much positivity coming from other hikers and bicyclists. So many good mornings shared, it was contagious. Bicyclists are one-way so they are only coming from behind you and so many were thankful for us moving out of their way. I've never experienced such polite and friendly trail enthusiasts. I'd love to return to experience this beautiful trail again.

Borrego Canyon Overlook Park is a mini neighborhood park nestled in a residential area, overlooking…read morethe Borrego Canyon. It is basically a patch of greenfield with a small playground. The park is so small that the walkway is only on one side of the park. The paved road ended at the far end of the park. Anyone feeling adventurous can follow the dirt trail all the way to the Whiting Ranch park entrance I was told. This quaint park is clearly intended for neighbors' use only as it does not have a public restroom on-site. The best asset of this park is its gorgeous view of the canyon. Clearly the Bond Fire got too close to the park when you see the wooden fence been replaced by iron stakes covered with a orange mesh, and the charred remain of trees on the other side of the fence. As small as it may be, it has more visitors than the other, larger, Borrego Park, about a mile down the hill. It seems to be very popular with dog owners walking their dog(s).

In many ways, it is the perfect park for a short afternoon picnic or a hike. Going downhill, the hike is not strenuous and not too long. The trail is easy to follow and there are ways to turn to extend your journey. There is also a small playground and a decent size grass field which can be used for games of touch football, tag, a picnic, or whatever. On a clear day, the grassy area offers a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the views of Irvine, Catalina, and the Pacific Ocean. It is also quite pretty at night. Also, since this park is on top of the hill, it is a fabulous place to fly a kite! There is usually always a breeze blowing, and when it's a bit windy the conditions are perfect. Keep in mind this is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so parking is limited and it's usually pretty quiet.

People in the area probably enters the park from the Salinas side, through their private access. Most people I see here are walking their dogs. The playground is designed for toddlers. There is a half court basketball court. I have never seen it being used until today when I see 2 couples converted it to a make shift pickleball court. I had to applaud their ingenuity in doing so. Now the bell is going off in my head that there are so many possibilities at many places. Who knew?

We easily found street parking. Could be a problem I guess on busy times. I love the soft foam cushion surface. Very colorful and had some "nice modern twist " of old fashioned regular play ground activities. I love that most if not all the children were being watched by parents, grandparents etc. my nephew loved the big slides and rock climbing mountain. I got so much joy from watching all the kids play. Nice seeing them be kids instead of playing video games.

It is so clean and there is so much parking that is available very close to the fields. The information center is also very nice and has friendly employees. The views are incredible and many tournaments were happening at the same time. There is seating available which is always great for games. And it even provides coverage so rain or shine, you can enjoy the game. I would highly recommend this park.
