I bought the meat balls and took them home and found out they are amazing!! So delicious and the best meatball I have ever had,wow! This is my favorite place for Italian grocery items. Parking is available, both on site and on the street. You can find all kinds of Italian products, from olive oil to pasta to cheese. There is also a small section for kitchen ware and cookbooks. They have sample stations too, not sure if it's everyday or only on Saturday. They are closed on Sunday. I come here mostly for the antipasti items. Huge variety of olives. I like the salad and the food where you can bring home and heat up and pretend you made the chicken parmigiana when serving to guests. Haha. I also like the sausages with different fillings and flavors. Chicken and fig. Turkey and cranberry. Hot sausage. Chipotle chicken sausage. The cheeses are great too. There is a small deli or cafe section where you can get sandwiches, desserts and coffee. It's Italian coffee so you know it's always good espresso here. The coffee is still quite affordable at $3+ here. You will also hear Italian being spoken between staff and customers. Quite delightful to hear that. To know this is a legit Italian homely grocery store. There are tables outside where you can have your sandwich and coffee. Quite packed during lunch hours. good selection of italian groceries. big selection of olives, salads, antipasti, and deli meats. Fair number of raw meats/marinated meats as well. I came to grab lunch. Got a muffaletta panino and beef arancini ball. pretty staple items. Loved these as a quick lunch when I traveled Italy. Pricing was ok. Sandwiches are pre-made and they heat it up for you, hovers around $8. The panino had really tough chewy bread, and way too salty. No sauce really to speak of, just a lot of olives which only added to the saltiness. Needs sauce, period. Pretty basic sandwich principles. Arancini ball was $7, tasted stale, way too much rice, and was large (but mostly rice). also premade and reheated. Service was fine for a grocery store counter. Parking lot decent sized, turnover is quick so finding a spot should not be an issue. Store is clean and spacious, no complaints there. Spectacular store for almost all your Italian food needs. They have an amazing selection of olives and pastas. I prefer the bronze cut pastas now that I know they hold the sauce better. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with a woman handing out cheese samples. She was knowledgeable and had a passion for what she hawking. I bought the luscious blue veined cheese. Their muffuletta sandwich was on a thin focaccia, it tasted good but I missed the soft bread that is traditionally used with this type of sandwich. The store is nicely laid-out and easy to find different categories of items. Their Olive, Olive Oil, Pasta and Sauces sections provides a huge selection for you to choose from. I've been living in Vancouver for a very long time but I've only been to Bosa three times. Actually today is my third time. I love this store. There are plenty of cheese, deli meats, pasta, you name it for you to make your epic Italian meals. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Store is clean and easy to maneuver. The only thing I wish they can improve on is their hot meals. I ordered the New Yorker sandwich and the bread was so chewy although they had plenty of meats. The tiramisu does not look appetizing and TBH not very good. I love their coffee though! I will definitely come back but probably skip their deli sandwiches and desserts. read more

Wow. Didn't know there was an Italian supermarket in the middle of the other completely dead (on the weekends) street. Parking is plentiful in the lot surrounding the building. The building is pretty cool. The did a really good job making the warehouse look like an Italian villa from the front. The inside is arranged like a mini supermarket, similar to Urban Fare. Looks like this place has mostly imported goods that generally can't be found elsewhere. Definitely a nice alternative to the larger supermarket chains. Staff were friendly, and there were plenty of samples. Definitely got my fill while shopping here. Lastly, there's a dessert section tucked away towards the back. It's a bit hard to find, so be sure not to miss it. read more

I expected more selection and just more in terms of everything when I came here to just shop for pasta sauce, and to see what other things would catch my eye, and my wallet. Even with a goal in mind it was hard for me to locate what I wanted. This place is big for an ethnic store, but not a full on supermarket, and I found something of everything all over the place. There were 3 different sections here for cheese alone, where you probably could make it more efficient as a store to put in one place. This place is not the easiest to find, I know of it cause I live not too far from here, but if you were clueless on where it is, just know that it is very close to the new Vancouver Police station on Boundary. Coming here on a Saturday, be prepared to battle it out for parking, the lot may look big, but it's not and it fills up with cars and people pretty quick. Not much in terms of produce selection but your here for the pasta, sauces and meat, they have a whole ton of this stuff. They even sell cookware and all types of Italian foods. It's hard to find someone to guide you to what your looking for, as help is there, it's just hard to find. I ended up buying a sauce for some pasta I had made my dear, and they just had a few brands, which shocked me, as this place is so big, I would have expected more variety. I got to the cashier and the sauce was under $5, so I busted out my debit card, and anything below $5 is cash only.... well time for you to break change for my $100 bill.... if your buying something cheap, make sure to have cash or you'll be buying more. read more

It's like the Italian edition of Whole Foods (except it's a lot smaller). Fresh produce. Fine meats. Fantastic selection of takeaway meals. I've only been to Bosa two times, once for breakfast and once for lunch, but I can honestly say that I've gathered enough intelligence to make a relevant post about this local establishment. As I hinted at above, Bosa is so Italian that the aisles are numbered in Italian, and while I haven't yet been grocery shopping at Bosa I'm sure that they have an assortment of exclusively Italian goods among other non-Italian products. Like any other grocery store, they have a deli, several shopping aisles, platters for parties, and lots of enthusiastic staff to help assist customers. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and if you haven't been here before, well, hopefully this review inspires you to check it out if you're in the area. Whether you need a quick snack, an edible gift, or looking for your daily kitchen needs, Bosa has you covered. Now onto the more relevant information - food and beverage items I've experienced: 1) Sandwich - the Tuscan panino is a must try! Deliciously put together with brie cheese and what seems to be a pâté. Ask them to warm it up to make it even better. About $7.00 Bosa is one of those places where you wouldn't know existed unless you went looking for it. Their deli selection is outstanding and they have all kinds of frozen or refrigerated entrees and desserts to choose from for a quick fix. I'm not really here to comment on the groceries, but I am here to talk about their ready made foods. Sandwiches - a wide variety of sandwiches made daily and from a wide range of deli meats and cheeses. I don't have a particular favorite, but soprano if you like spicy. Arancini rice balls - uh...not a favorite given the price. But good if you've never had one before. Roasted chicken - a relatively new thing for them, but a welcome addition. You can get a while roasted chicken for about $10. Think of a typical grocery or Costco whole roast chicken....this is exactly the same thing. Pasta (Tuesday only) - ok...I'll be real with you. The sandwiches are decent...but you want to come here for the pasta. I have a tough time thinking of a place to get a decent pasta dish for under $15. At Bosa, pay for the pasta lunch. Go upstairs, pick a soft drink (it's usually a fancy soft drink), pick a pasta, pick a sauce, get some garlic bread. Bam... there's a solid lunch. Every time I've bought an overpriced hunk of Parmigiano Reggiano for my pasta, I have known in the back of my mind that it's much cheaper at Bosa. This Italian grocery store sits next to Highway 1 near the First Avenue exit, always beckoning to me as I fly by. I can tell you that it's completely worth the effort to seek it out; the prices and selection are great, and it's a rather pretty store, too. Their cheese and deli sections are amazing, of course. Proscuitto, pancetta, fennel sausage, fruiliano, padano... Incredible selection of Italian products. I come here on the regular with the fiance to pick up meats, cheeses, pastas and other delicious Italian goodies like polenta and antipesto. A little pricey as everything is imported from Italy (except the meats) but the inventory is quality grade stuff. Panetone for Christmas parties, sliced meats for charcuterie lunches, top of the line pasta ingredients for dinner. This place definitely has it all. And so much more. They don't sell produce like fruits and veggies but you can head over to Whole Foods for that. The rest just buy it from here. One of my fave haunts for Italian groceries. Lots and lots of choices for olive oils, cheese, and of course, pasta! But they don't carry the brand that I really enjoy, PAGANI pasta, :( Only Tosi in Chinatown carries Pagani in Vancouver. Only problem for me is that this is a drive across town, so I don't make it out here that often. They also sell Italian cookware and place settings should you feel the need to acquire some. I ate it in the hike so we did not get them to toast it, but I'm sure if I ate it toasted it would taste even better! The hot calabrese salami was nice and flavourful, and the spicy was gave the panini a nice kick! The peppers also added good flavouring to the panini. If you're looking for ingredients for yout authentic meditteranean dinner, BOSA. Foods should have everything you need. Their store is immaculate and items are well displayed. It seems a bit pricey compared to some east van stores, however. If you're going for coffee, it's decent and you can choose the number of shots in your latte. They have a lot of pre-made sandwiches, if you don't want purchase piecemeal from the deli. I had a quiche which was ok but they microwaved it and wrapped it in unsustainable foil. For the unnecessary waste I was considering lowering my grade to 3 but I'll be generous until I sample more food. read more

This is the first time we tried the Bosa Deli an already well-known name from large construction projects in Vancouver. Being a name associated with a genuine Italien background we expected the best of handling and competitive pricing of imported sausages etc. What we did not expect was shady, evasive practices pertaining to their deli pricing. Items were prepacked in plastic containers showing 80 grams per prepacked items i.e. @ $4.99 for Genua Salami which we could buy at Sta. Barbara Market, where we usually go shopping, for under $3.00/100 gram. ("Speck: 70gr @ $4.99!!!) The elegantly, luring $4.99 for me is still $5! This method should be left to the likes of "The Brick" furniture store! Neither are these prices shown on the purchased packages, but could only be discovered by studying the cash receipts. This was obviously to avoid comparing prices easily which are usually given in the metric indications of 100gram units to avoid comparing prices with other stores adhering to the common 100gram system. The top slice of the salami we bought also showed an unappetizing slight greenish tint. Other stores usually dispose of the first slice if the whole sausage was not in use for a while. We are convinced that this unhealthy deceptive practice is applied to all their deli meat products but unintentionally leaving the green tinted slice on top rather than hiding it under the following fresh slices. All in all, we are totally turned off by their high prices, their manipulative practices as well as their unhygienic methods. We advise all their 4 and 5-star evaluators to be more observant and critical. This was our first foray to go shopping elsewhere but we will be back at Sta. Barbara (1622 Commercial Drive) where their pricing methods for the same items are open, cheaper and the handling of meat products are hygienic, environmentally conscious using paper packing showing the weight and pricing of each item clearly on its individual package. Great true Italian deli/shop where this is as authentic as your gonna get. Top of the line products and I highly recommend the frozen stuffed/breaded chicken breasts with your choice of apple and brie or broccoli and cheese or ham & swiss. Great little compact quick dinners to throw in your freezer for $3.25 each. On to the meats and cheeses.....thought I died and went to heaven for a moment. I recommend the cured salamis and sausages. They were sampling a blue cheese that is right up there amongst the best I have ever tried. Their pizza breads and flat breads are divine and if you are looking to fill your pantry with everything Italian you have come to the right place...every imaginable shape and size of pasta possible. Cute store but packed to the rafters which made shopping super uncomfortable to get around. My only criticism is the lack of customer service from the younger staff as one previous yelper commented on. It is so true and very apparent. You are neglected and ignored as they chat away to each other. God forbid you forget to take a number because they certainly won't tell you. It was the same at the cash as the both the cashier and bagger were so engrossed in conversation they never said hello or goodbye and only came up for air to tell you your total at the end.
