Our tour guide, Chris, was very entertaining, knowledgeable and the people drinking in our party, really enjoyed his recommendations for beer( I was doing the dry run.. soda and water). He also had recommendations for people who wanted to find other things to do in Boston after the tour. I've lived in Massachusetts for years and even I got to hear things I didn't know about the history of Boston. Even if you don't drink beer, if people in your party do, it's a fun way to learn about Boston while enjoying Boston. Plus you have a local to ask for more stuff to do later. read more

Our tour guide was wonderful ! We went to four pubs with a large group of 14. Everyone talked and we had a lot of laughs. Joe knew his beers but we really appreciated his knowledge of history. The tour didn't have too much walking which was good for a couple of people in our group but allowed us to see a few different places. What a fun and insightful day! I haven't been on many pub crawls, because they seem like one big drunk fest, or historic tours because they seem like one big bore fest, but this one was neither of those things and truly a great experience. Our tour guide, Bobby, walked us through one of the more historic parts of Boston, highlighting some really interesting facts of the city, and enjoying beers along the way. Even as a lifelong resident of Boston, I enjoyed and learned something interesting with each story, but what made it a truly great experience were the people we met they were fantastic (shout out to Liz and Mike, next time we're in Chicago beers on us!). Neither the history or the beer drinking were overwhelming, in fact I wanted to keep going to more spots! After pub crawling our way through the US, this was by far the most disappointing. We were looking forward to it since we had yet to have a bad pub crawl experience, and given all of the positive reviews we decided to give Boston crawling a try. Needless to say it did not live up to the hype. Granted this is probably because our tour guide was relatively new (I forget his name. Something Fry...) but that still impacted my overall experience. I know from past tours that the guide definitely makes a difference and had we gotten the Bobby that everyone here seems to be raving about, this review might have ended differently. The bars and accompanying history lessons were just okay. I enjoyed the beers but ultimately finished the afternoon on a less than mediocre note. Was not worth the money in my opinion. read more

Fantastic experience, great value for the price. We only had about 3 hours to show the heart of Boston to some out-of-town visitors, which was a little nerve-racking. This tour however was the perfect mix for both the American history buff who wanted to see the sights (way more fun than any AP History class) and my buddy who prefers a pint in authentic Irish bars. Our tour guide was very entertaining and helpful, taking us to some of Boston's best watering holes, and sharing some insider tips on the hidden gems nearby in the North End/Little Italy section of the city as well. Like many professional 20somethings living in Boston, it is always a struggle to entertain your parents when they come to visit you. I don't think they'd enjoy visiting the clubs that I frequent (see that pole over there mom and dad? I had a DFMO there that would make you proud), and brunch only takes up so many hours. I decided to bring them on this pub crawl because they both like history, beer, and walking around. Boy, did this crawl deliver! Bobby, our tour guide, and also the owner of the company, was funny, knowledgeable, and engaging. We learned about why it's not classy to put your elbows on the table, how the cover of my 8th grade history book misrepresents the Boston massacre, and what kind of beer our founding fathers drank. All while enjoying some beers of our own and meeting interesting people from all over the world. We had a fantastic time! Bobby couldn't do a better job as a tour guide. Intelligent, hilarious, personable, and knows his stuff when it comes to the history of Boston. With each different stop Bobby showed pictures and told interesting stories about pre-revolutionary/revolutionary era Boston. He gave recommendations on beer to try at each stop and handled the ordering etc. so all you have to worry about is showing up and tagging along. Eat before you go, depending on drinking speed of your group it can be some faster paced drinking as there was an friendly drinking competition in our group! I do not recommend this tour and in my opinion felt like the description on the website was completely inaccurate. It is in no way part bar crawl part tour. It is simply four bars with a tiny bit of talking at each one. But the worst part in my opinion was the choice of bars. I thought it would be a chance to discover historic, 'hole in the wall' places. I knew I was wrong when the first bar they take you to is the CHEERS bar (NOT the original, the tourist trap one). Absolutely unacceptable for what they charge you. read more
