I have tried repeatedly to schedule an appointment with Dr. Parazin, but anyone wanting to see him MUST be screened by some person named Maria who is impossible to contact. She is never in. She never returns messages. There is no email for her. She cannot be texted. And she is the only way to Dr. Parazin. I have great respect for Dr. Parazin, but nothing but frustration in trying to schedule with him. The place is a sh*t show in a clown car. Maria is simply awful at her job. read more

They keep bumping my appointments to Chestnut Hill when I have told them over and over that I really can only go to the Brighton location. They like to wait until early Sunday morning to send you an email letting you know they had to move your appointment because they know they won't be in the office to take your call until Monday. I don't understand why they think this is an okay way to treat their patients. If I were them, I'd call the patient to reschedule the date of the appointment, not just use an autoscheduler to move on to the next case. I must have been waiting to see them for the past 2 or 3 months and it's quite obvious they don't respect their patients' time. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

I was referred to Boston Orthopedic and Spine and can say with confidence after my appointment this morning, I will NEVER be back, nor will I EVER recommend this facility. Dr. Sarni was hands down the rudest physician of ANY kind I've ever seen. He continually interrupted me, telling me that listening to the background issue of how and why I was referred was like listening to the phone book and literally dismissively waved his hand, as he said it and looked at his computer. He would ask a question and again, when I tried to answer he interrupted me repeatedly and or corrected me that what I said hurt was not actually what it was. He questioned tests I'd had done and although he said he could order things, he also kept repeating that in his opinion it would not yield an answer and I'd be back where I am today. Then, he questioned my weight, when I shared that as I had been trying to explain, this started 5 years ago while training for a half ironman. Dr. Sarni informed me exercise is scientifically proven not to be part of weight loss and asked again what am I doing. He was so rude and belittling that I finally said, I know I'm overweight but being an athlete I'm also aware how to fuel my body and its not working PLUS I have decreased mobility with pain. He asked my goal weight and when I shared he snickered and said at 5 feet tall that won't be enough and as he looked at his computer and then added I needed to see someone. I have been overweight my entire life and this issue was present when I weighed less and doing extensive training,ultimately the healthiest I had ever been. Is it an issue yes but its NOT the complete picture, had he bothered to listen! At this point, I gave up, and just powered thru the rest of the appointment. If Dr. Sarni doesn't want to actually try to help people anymore, he should retire because his behaviour yesterday was shameful. He 100% missed providing ANY TYPE of helpful medical care. Stay away from these people. Used to be a good practice with stellar doctors, but it is no longer. They suddenly made a decision(for financial reasons and probably to avoid any Medicare insurance claims) to stop providing injectable drugs for arthritic knees, shoulders two weeks before the end of 2023 and advised you can get your own syringe and bring it in. That said, I have requested a script twice, no response. They just dropped me from all care and I bet many others as well. This is a group that wants to bring in the numbers and doesn't care about you, as a patient. I have to surmise they advise unnecessary surgery to get the numbers they crave. I can't get hold of anyone there, there's a timer on my phone ; been currently trying to speak to an "agent" for over 7 minutes. Went in with a shoulder injury, made me get an X-ray then MRI - they told me the MRI came back unreadable, but a cortisone injection will work. It didn't. And now I have a $700 bill for the MRI, after paying $200 for the xray that they told me was just a process required for insurance. Even better, I seriously suspect I need to talk to doctor, who only works 2x days a week. So this will take forever for me to resolve. Wish me luck! read more

This review is for the Waltham office. They don't have zero stars so they get one. I met with Dr. Dolgov and it was by far the worst experience I have ever had in any medical care. Maybe service in general. Met with me for maybe 4 minutes. He didn't ask me a single question and was just generally rude and condescending . That's me putting it nicely. The woman in charge of his scheduling was equally rude. I told her about my experience and she became aggressive on the phone which was actually quite hilarious. They sent me to an MRI which after moving to a new orthopedic place it turns out I didn't need. As I mentioned I finally went somewhere else and had a great experience. read more

I will never return to Pro Sports Orthopedics. I had a cortisone shot in my left forearm that was so botched that I have permanent damage to the skin tissue. I will have to wrap my arm for the rest of my life to avoid bruising and scraping. It is very bad. I'm troubled by this, because before the injection, I asked if it should be done by ultrasound, but Dr. Green's answer was more or less an eye roll with the comment that is done by doctors who want to charge insurance companies more. Fine, charge them, but do the job correctly and safely. Last April, I saw Dr Doglov for back pain. After a brief physical exam, he was sure it was sciatica - no new imaging, just his brilliance. Dr. Hill did the injection just fine, except it was the wrong disc. One painful year later, turns out there is a bulge impinging a nerve but it is not L3-4, which Dr. Doglov diagnosed. In fact that is a normal disc, according the the recent MRI. The problem is L5-S1. Thank goodness for the expertise and care at Mass General. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER will I return to pro sports orthopedics. And you shouldn't either. read more

I came to see what I thought was an orthopedic doctor who specializes in shoulders as I have had severe shoulder pain for this last year once starting back to exercising. I saw Dr. Dolgove, who seemed pleasant at first, I saw in the office needles and vials for cortisone injections, I had just had a MRI under fluroscopy( from Sheilds MRI...that's another bad review....) was bruised and painful and the doctor offered an injection and I refused stating, " I think I will wait a week for the trauma from MRI to go down and be less painful" he said no problem to just call the office to schedule next week. So.. I call office, schedule for injection, was given date and time. Showed up week latter at office in Brighton. And desk staff looked at me strange asking why I was there! What? I'm here for an appointment. They said that Dr. doggone does not do injections and that he scheduled me to have this injection done at Boston Medical Center under fluroscopy. Boy I was lit! No information was given about this and also I was still shell shocked from last trauma of MRI . Staff stated," Dr. dolgove does not do injections anywhere in out practice, he is an non surgical MD and specializes in back and nerve pain" What? He does not specialize in shoulders? So... I am switching to get a second opinion from Dr. Glen Ross there in same Pro Sport Offce. Will see....stay tuned, still in pain..... read more

I recently had arthroscopic surgery with Dr. Burke at Pro Sports to repair a torn labrum in my shoulder. My initial pre-surgery/pre-MRI meeting was with Paul Desillier the Physician's Assistant at Mt. Auburn Hospital. He seemed very knowledgeable but I was a little confused as to why I wasn't meeting with the surgeon. My next meeting I was able to meet Dr. Burke, albeit briefly. It seemed rushed because he was busy and had just come from ER but he did answer all of my questions. It was obvious that this was a routine surgery for him and he was the pro. On surgery day Dr. Burke was awesome and very helpful, along with the rest of the surgery staff. I never had a doubt in my mind with any of them. The day after surgery Dr. Burke called me at home to check in and to tell me how long to ice my shoulder and wear my sling etc. 10 days later I met with him to get my stitches removed and he gave me confidence that I was recovering well. If I could give a 4.5 star rating I would. The half a star subtraction is just from feeling a bit rushed when I first met Dr. Burke. Nonetheless I would confidently recommend him to anyone. read more

Pro Sports Orthopedics is pretty great! Both my father and I have seen Dr. Hester to get our bunions removed. Usually in the office I'm the youngest one, at 21. (Though my father had his removed at 50 and my bunions at 21 are worse than his were at 50! I'm also a photographer and he's a software engineer, so I need to be on my feet to work!) Anyways, I've had no complaints about the care I have received from Dr. Hester and Pro Sports, both their Waltham and Brighton offices. Sometimes when getting various paperwork and records delivered between my primary care and their office, there have been issues but that isn't on their end. Regardless, all of the staff I've encountered has been friendly, from the front desk to the x-ray techs. Quick tidbit that may or may not be useful: I am a transgender male and like many medical facilities in the Boston area, it hasn't been an issue. But if somebody is particularly looking for a facility that has confirmed reports of... friendliness? I guess, then we're good here. I've had to schedule another surgery, a hysterectomy around my second bunionectomy and Dr. Hester has had no issues in discussing it with me, along with my past medical and surgical history. Pro Sports Orthopedics also uses an online patient portal called "Follow My Health" which allows you to access any records/appointments/reports/all that jazz, which is pretty cool. Yeah! read more

This practice exemplifies everything I hate about the medical industry. The shiny new facility is beautiful, and I must say that the supporting staff is friendly and helpful. The doctors are polite and blandly disinterested, unless you are buying into invasive and expensive treatments down the road. They don't care about healing, they are selling cortisone shots and probably other treatments such as surgery, not mentioned to me, because they didn't apply to my problem... yet. Btw, I saw two doctors at this practice, on two separate dates, for two different areas of concern. Both of my experiences were very similar. When my knee started hurting out of the blue in May I booked my first appointment here. There was pain and pressure behind the knee, so I thought it was some kind of injury. I had an x-ray and a brief exam and I was told my knee pain was age-related arthritis. The doctor was polite but seemed bored. I was clueless because I had no experience with arthritis, or really any, pain like this before. He couldn't be bothered to mention icing or wrapping the joint, which I read about when I did my own research later. He didn't mention Glucosamine, which helps many people. Didn't mention PT to strengthen the muscles around the joint. I asked the doctor what I could do about the pain. He said to wait until it gets unbearably painful, then come back for a cortisone shot. WTF. Over the next few days, my knee got worse, and I was limping. I decided to consult Dr. Google. I started taking Glucosamine, just some cheap stuff from Stop 'n' Shop. It helped within days. But I think what helped the most was eating an anti-inflammatory diet. I already avoid gluten by cutting out wheat, but I get lax about it. I stepped that up, cut out most grains except some rice, and I also added lots of turmeric to my diet, like basically dumping it on my morning eggs and on veggie dishes.. I learned about lectins (gluten is a kind of lectin) and that led me to take nightshade veggies out of my diet (potatoes, tomatoes [just the skin and seeds have the lectins], peppers, eggplant). Within days the knee pain was better. In two weeks it was 50% better. Now, about 6 weeks later I'm 98% better. I feel a twinge when I bend my knee extremely, like during a yoga routine. Otherwise, it's fine. I learned that glucosamine protects the joints from the irritation lectins can inflict, so when I took out nightshades, I even stopped taking glucosamine. I used one bottle. I don't need it anymore. That reminds me... when I told the doctor how much it hurt when I kneeled down, his response was "then don't kneel down," with a small smirk. FU. This is a just a front for selling cortisone shots and other invasive treatments to people who could probably have healing instead. read more

Dr. Hester is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent surgeon. He spent time with me to explain my treatment options for my arthritic toe. I opted for surgery, and am glad I did. At Post-op follow-ups, Dr. Hester was thorough in monitoring my recovery. He explained what to expect, and gave suggestions as to how to prevent any further damage of my arthritic toe. He took the time to listen to my concerns and answer any questions I had. I highly recommend him! I went to the Pro Sports Orthopedics in Waltham, MA. The staff there are courteous and organized--appointments, paperwork, and coordination of services all went smoothly. I'm glad I chose that clinic. read more

I have been going to pro Sports for over 6yrs. I have had 6 surgeries with the Docutors here. I have had 5 surgeries with Dr Mason & Dr Ross at the Baptist. One back surgery Dr Mason. One ulnar surgery & 3 arthroscopic (shoulder) surgeries with Dr Ross. Second back surgery with Dr Simon at Mt Auburn Hospital. Dr Green for wrist issues with one cortisone shot.. Also Dr Troy at Mt Auburn Hospital have had knee shots with fluid for server pain. Have worked good. Dr Free very good. Have seen both PA over the years and are very good. Know everyone very well. All the doctors are very good at what they do. Will never go anywhere else. read more

Sketchy billing practices by Dr. Karlsen's office (fraudulent? hard to say). The office made like they didn't receive the benefit statement from the insurance, didn't coordinate their billing thru my insurance after taking my info, continued to charge the full amount in violation of their contract with my insurance for over a year (I paid the allowable charges soon after the visit), they passed the bill on to collection agencies, not sure if they've notified the credit agencies or not. This was remedied by calling my insurance and a great agent there called them, faxed the benefit statement, and made things good. I'm considering notifying the medical board of this office's annoying and unfair billing practices. read more

I got a pedicure which got infected. I tried calling my doctor but she wouldnt make an appointment because she thought it would resolve by doing warm Epson salt soaks. The pain was unbearable and i didnt want to pay a copay for an er visit so i went to urgent care who basically gave me antibiotics and claimed to drain it without properly numbing it. 5days later still bleeding and puss coming out my primary care still refused to see me and told me to continue the antibiotics but i said screw it and went to see DR. Hester. He was so nice and so understanding. He numbed my toe and cut out the ingrown. He did a fantastic job, he did warn me not to watch but i chose to and i wouldnt recommend it. I can't express my extreme frustration with this practice! I can't speak to their orthopedic care because their adminstrative follow-up is abysmal and I never received any care. My primary doctor referred me to them for a cortisone shot to relieve severe nerve pain. I take warfarin, which I understand must be discontinued for 7 days prior to a cervical cortisone injection. My primary doc requested that they fax him warfarin contraindications and he would sign off (or not) for professional/legal reasons. After countless phone calls from my end and my primary docs office over a period of weeks, there was absolutely no response. My experience is that this is poorly run practice. read more

Pro Sports has some great docs and some who are okay. Both of the PAs I've seen were excellent and able to do most initial visits for things that were most likely on surgical. They have a ton of locations so always ask if they have availability somewhere else if you're able to travel. They've been great about getting treatment and getting it. Cons: I would remind anyone who is going to Pro Sports to show up at LEAST 30 minutes AFTER (you read that right) your scheduled appointment. Of the times I've been here, I've never had an appointment start within 30 minutes of the scheduled time, and one time I showed up only to find out that they had cancelled the appointment. As usual it's a doctors office so there is nothing you can do, but just a friendly reminder to save yourself some time read more

He basically cut me off and told me to "focus on the reason for the visit." I am a RN and always listen to patients. My knee surgery failed after 2 yrs, done by a surgeon from Prosports. I understand that pivoting sports could cause injuries but when a patient comes back with an injury please be atleast courteous and read the MRI and the report in advance, some basic preparation will be helpful and please have some sympathy for the patient. Comments like "inside of your knee should be bloody !" isn't what the patient wants to hear. I bet the consulting charges will be very rewarding to the doc even though the appointment was useless to me as patient. The same doc was curious as to when I'll be coming back for surgery, seriously, you asked me that question !! I'll never recommend this doctor. Do not go here. I went in there at 31 years of age with bilateral hip pain, their MD told me it was not a big deal and mild bursitis, gave me cortisone injection and said to come back in 6 months. Pain got worse and worse and worse. I went to see a more reputable hip Dr (one of the best in the city), found out I had AVN, had to have both my hips replaced. If i had been properly diagnosed sooner, they may have been able to save at least one hip. Now, I am getting billed 650.00 for the visit. Nothing like paying to be misdiagnosed. AVOID THEM. Also please note, I called to tell them the pain was getting worse and they said to go to PT. PT is not indicated in the treatment of AVN, only hip surgery will correct it or alleviate pain (starting with core decompression). read more

Dr Schena and PA Delasio were exceptional. Just really good people. They genuinely cared about my best interest and took as much time with me as needed. Gave me their email to get in touch any time if I had any questions. Dr Schena is just great, he referred me to a Dr who is a top hip surgeon in the country for my specific scenario. I was asked to come in 15 minutes early to complete paperwork, which took 5 minutes to complete. Fast forward an hour and I'm still waiting to be seen. I was assured that I would be seen within the hour but I'm wondering if it will be another hour before I see someone. I'm used to a 10 minute wait, but an hour? Come on! Update, I've now been waiting an hour and fifteen minutes and a doc just came in asking me about my elbow and my visit the last time (this is my first visit and in not here for elbow pain). I went to Dr. John Hester for a foot injury. I thought he listened well, took me seriously, was very thoughtful and provided me with very good care. Fortunately I am healing quickly and decided to cancel my followup appointment. Calling the office on the phone is a true pain. They delay you with advertising before you finally get to talk to someone but the delay wasn't too bad on the first call. When I called to cancel, it was at least 20 minutes to get to talk to an office person. When I visited the office, there were four people at the front desk. I can't say how many were there when I called today but the delay just to change an appointment is truly unacceptable. read more

Dr. Thomas Burke repaired my broken shoulder in June. I needed surgery after a boating accident and his office scheduled me for immediate surgery. I'm most pleased with the surgery and its outcome. I had wrist surgery in the fall of 2016 w ProSports, a referral from the ER when I came in with a broken arm. The staff was cold and the surgeon terse during meetings. I thought maybe I was expecting too much from the staff. During surgery the surgeon used a screw that was too large for the job and later caused discomfort and slowed down my recovery. After months of frustrating physical therapy I got a second opinion and had everything removed from my wrist in a second surgery by Dr. Jupiter at MGH, who I can't recommend highly enough, Jan 2018. The staff in the second surgery was warm and attentive and I realized in comparison I had been right to feel disappointed by my experience w ProSports. Within days of my second surgery my range of motion improved and now a year later I have no discomfort and no regrets about getting a second opinion. To be fair, the first surgery was more complicated than the second, but ideally when you put hardware in a patient it shouldn't need to come out later. read more
