My car broke down last week. Yep, right in the middle of the road. Everyone was honking at me even though there was nothing I could do. The week could not have gotten any worse. Luckily, I had AAA roadside assistance, and they referred me to Boston Transmission. This is the best auto shop I've ever gone to, and it's also one of the friendliest. Getting my car fixed here just turned my week upside down and back to fantastic. I got my axels repaired as well as my clutch. My car runs better than it did when I first got it...I'm actually excited to drive my car because it runs so smoothly. By the way, it's a 2003 Hyundai and it now feels like a Mustang (JK, but it feels new enough). Joe, the manager, also helped me adjust to the clutch by taking me for a test drive. I am beyond happy with the service, and Joe also gave me a discount for paying in cash. They are located on Whittier Blvd west of Paramount. The shop area is pretty big and can accommodate all sizes of vehicle. Before just charging me and tell me I need some expensive service, he explained the potential causes of my problem. In the end we decided on the minimally invasive solution with the watch and see mentality. He was nice enough to not charge me for his time and supplies. Took my truck in and was hoping it wasn't going to be too serious; however, at the back of my head I had a feeling it was going to be a transmission problem. I had Joe take a look at it. At first he didn't recognize the problem so he let my truck run for awhile for the engine to get warm. Once it did, He took it out for a drive and sure enough the problem became evident! I think going the extra mile literally on this case helped isolate the issue exactly. I was not able to pick up my truck that same day, but he locked it up over the weekend! I came back Monday to pick up my truck and he didn't charge for a diagnostic test. He said he didn't really do much to determine it was a transmission problem. Joe is very nice and very honest! I brought my 1964 Ford F100 to Boston Transmission after reading the reviews here on Yelp. The reviews were spot on. Joe, the owner, is incredible. His father founded the shop and you can tell by the attention Joe gives you that his dad must have taught him as much about people as he did about cars. The price was exactly as quoted. Joe found a couple of other items that needed attention, called me before doing the work, and was very fair with his prices. I suspected the additional items needed to be done and Joe carefully explained the pros and cons of doing or not doing the work. I'm writing a review 5-star because I was treated with great service and detail, on a phone call, and they even knew I already had my car at another shop... I needed to know if I was getting a good quote for a clutch job at my regular mechanic. My clutch had been slipping, my old mechanic told me I couldn't get service any better for any cheaper! Yeah right, it wasn't cheap at all. So I called around and wasn't getting anywhere until I called these guys: they explained why this job is so expensive, what the parts cost for 1-yr warranty, for 2-yr warranty, etc. and why for a 1-yr warranty my mechanic was giving me a good price. This is a late review but none the less well deserved. Took my 1965 Cadillac for transmission service which I just don't take to anybody. He checked it out and said all it needed was a reseal and oil service. Unlike the other place I went to that wanted to rebuild the transmission. He noticed my transmission mount was worn out and found one which is really rare for this year but was really expensive. He told me if I could find it cheaper to get it and he'll put it in. Real customer service like it should be. All in all great work, clean shop and great customer service. Oh did I forget to mention that it's be over a year since the service an all works great. Took my 1964 Chevy truck to Joe to fix a few transmission leaks. Joe was able to locate the areas of concern and took care of the leaks. Joe was very thorough and discussed his diagnosis before starting the repairs. He also sent photo's. Joe also took the time to list a few engine oil leaks that I should take care of. The final invoice was actually less than his estimate and even replaced a small shaft at no charge. When I arrived, Joe had all my old parts on a cart to show me what he replaced. The shop is spotless and well maintained. Joe is very knowledgeable and advised me of some potential problems that I may have in the future. There was no pressure to address those issues immediately, and left it totally up to me. I highly recommend Boston transmission. I came across Boston transmission through this app. I was in desperate need of getting a second opinion because I was getting the run around by a local dealer where I purchased my car. The owner of the dealer insisted that his mechanics did everything they had to do and that the car had no other problems. My husband and I felt that the car was not checked properly and there were some problems still to be checked and were being ignored. Recommended, I even got my clutch replaced. I have waited for at least 3k miles before writing this review. A simple seal popped out of the manual transmission in my 08 Lexus IS 250. A bit costly to replace a simple seal. However it required the transmission to be taken out. So well worth the price and replacement of the clutch that I bought elsewhere. Other transmission places did not even want to mess with the job with exception of the Lexus dealer that would cost a $$$$. Honest place to get your transmission fixed. read more

This was an absolutely amazing place to take my car and I plan to use them for all of my service needs from here on out with any car that I have! Joe is great and really works with you to get your car back in working order and helps you with your budget. I was in-between jobs and had to get a new clutch. It literrally stopped working in the middle of traffic and I had to be towed from the ghetto in L.A.....not good! That said he worked with me every step of the way and gave me a great price that fit into my budget and helped me get my "baby" back on the road. Now she's driving like a brand new car and this only cost me 1/2 the price that other people had quoted me. He stands behind his product and doesn't nickle and dime you like some other people will. Found out about this place through a friend that he highly recommended for transmission work. I first took in a 91 jeep wrangler that was having transmission issues and met with the Owner Joe. He test drove the car and put it up on the rack to inspect it. I spent about 1 hour with him and he was able to point out other minor issues with the suspension that needed to be addresses which i fixed at home on my own.. He was able to provide a price to rebuild the trans. which I later had them rebuild it and do a new clutch, 1 year later the trans is still going strong. I them purchased a 2002 Jeep Wrangler that was having some steering issues and stopped by to have Joe look at. Joe mentioned to me that suspension is not what they do but still test drove the car, inspected it and found what seem to be the issue. Joe spent about 45 min. of his time to do this at the end of the day and never once complained about it. I then went home and fixed the issue myself and the car drives straight as an arrow now. Since my 1st visit to his shop I new this was the right place to have work done on my cars. From the office to the shop to the rest room this place is cleaner than most peoples house. Honest, friendly, helpful and very professional. Joe the owner is a class act! I called and got a quote for a transmission fluid and filter service on my 3 series BMW. Joe said to bring the car in and he would have the car ready in three to four hours. Guess what? I dropped off the car and the car was ready in 4 hours and I was charged EXACTLY as quoted. Joe also provided a general undercar inspection free of charge. It doesn't get any better than this. The shop is spotless and well organized and I can tell that Joe loves what he does and takes pride in all his work.
