On one visit we witnessed a lifeguard during her break and on her own take a couple of bottles of water to an elderly gentleman waiting for his great grandchildren. It was very hot that day, it was not her job to do this but she did a try Hunan kindness. Today, we were in the pool and the group of lifeguards gave a little boy who is a regular at the pool a lifeguard t-shirt, and let him carry a lifeguard float around. The little guy just beamed with pride and happiness. Again they didn't have to do this, it wasn't in their job description, but they made a young boy very happy. He probably won't ever forget this day. You have an amazing group of young people working at your pool. You should be very proud!!

There's locker's availble as well. There's a concession stand with limited food and drinks but very reasonable. Zero entry, most of the pool areas are 3'6 deep to 3'. There are baby slide, a medium wide slide and a large slide as well as a basketball hoop, innertubes and a deeper area for the larger kids and adults. There are plenty of lounge chaise and tables with an umbrellas. They take cash or checks, no debit or credit cards. Nice for the locals and those who are visiting the area. My only suggestion is that the teenagers working there, learn how to say "Thank You" when taking money either for entry or at the concession stand.

The area is very open, and even when the parking lot is full the building doesn't seem that way. They have a walking track, basketball court, break area, pool, aerobics, rock wall, and full weight area. The good; I love that this place is so big, and that it doesn't seem packed. Their weight room is extensive, and has plenty of free weights and machines to fit any need. A rock wall who else has that?! And a few nice places to just relax. The bad; The majority of weight machines have seen better day's. Lot's are rusted, and cracked. Some of the weights don't seem to accurate. Also the track is a bit narrow; you really can't walk with more than one other person. And if two people are slow it's hard to pass them on the straight aways. I also noticed today that some people were running full-court basketball. Sure they had enough people, but this might be an issue if you just wanted to shoot some hoops on a Saturday. I also didn't notice any side activities like there are at my regular gym; pool, table tennis, and video games. I also hate that the use gobs of paper towels to clean the machines, what a waste "IMO" All in all its a nice gym, and serves its purpose. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I am also a Silver Sneaker member but today I came with my granddaughters who are out of school. The older ladies working the front desk acted like it was such an inconvenience to wait on us. Then proceeded to let us know that none of the amenities for children are available until after 4 so that older members can enjoy it. Even the lifeguards were grumpy! School is out and kids should be able to enjoy the facilities! Isn't that what parks are for? What a shame! I have family that retired from the park board and they are appalled too. I was also disgusted by the restrooms and changing room. They smelled of urine terribly!

The park is really big with plenty of outdoor activities. Doling Park is a Springfield gem. I would definitely keep Doling Park Family Center in mind for future activities.

Playing, and entertaining the children, and it's free! There's never usually a wait for machines, place is clean, and no "muscle head's." Awesome court to play anything you like from basketball, volleyball even badminton!.. They have a lot of free aerobic classes, and a fantastic pool area. I would give this place 5 star's, but what's holding me back , is they use paper towels for cleaning instead of cloth, and their vending machine doesn't have lot's of healthy options.
