The Black Angus steak (after we have eaten 2/3-rds of it already!)
    Edward R.

The specialty of this small restaurant is high-quality aged beef. We ordered the least expensive piece on the menu, a Black Angus (aged) steak for two (40-Euro). Cooked perfectly; medium rare. Bota & Bira (Eng.: "Boot and Beer") serves wine from the Douro Valley, a large selection exclusively from artisan local vintners (wine producers). Waiter: perfectly polite and accommodating in our selection of the perfect wine. Bottle prices, reasonable. To accompany the steak, we tried the "Chorizo Rice". Served in a small cast iron pot (it stayed warm the entire meal). Very tasty, not greasy at all, the rice long-grain and light. Four types of chorizo mixed in, very small pieces, accented the flavor without overwhelming the dish. These were (1) Black; (2) Regular Chorizo; (3) Alheira caca; and (4) bacon. Another excellent side was the mushroom and and black truffle croquet. Not greasy, light on the outside, then warm, soft, and very, very good on the inside. A pleasure to accompany the meal. The steak comes pre-sliced for you, and the waiter serves you three pieces to start, and leave the giant serving plate on the table. Twigs of fresh rosemary around the steak, but it does not overwhelm the flavor. Comes with a small thimble-cup of high quality sea salt, which accompanies the steak perfectly. This restaurant is very small. It seats only 10 persons or so, so you must reserve in advance. Basically, the entire meal was perfect. What a gem of a restaurant.

B&B came highly recommended for steaks. We had reservations, so we were seated quickly. They reviewed the menu with us and gave different options and recommendations. We settled for the dry aged for 2. The meat was cooked to order but had a little more fat than we wanted. The 2 sides were great. Service was good as well.

We cleaned our plates clean. We saw others order their rotisserie chicken plate that comes with rice and French fries. Honestly, you can't go wrong with whatever you order. It's a mix of locals and tourists and the staff know what they're doing. Wished we here more often. It's right off the bus stop at Trindade. No more than a 5 min walk. It's well worth the distance.

The chicken is prepared a little bit different than our last spot, Pedro dos Frangos, where the chicken taste/presentation and overall environment was cleaner. Here, the BBQ style is more charred/smoked, which is usually what I prefer; however, the smoky environment leaves a lasting impression, and not in a good sense, especially if you have sensitive eyes. Also, I noticed here the chicken includes rice & fries (I got potatoes instead of fries). Whereas, at Pedro dos Frangos, everything is a la carte (dine-in), or includes chips (takeaway). Vinho do Porto com Cerveja (port wine with beer) was quite interesting. I'd say it's akin to a raspberry beer.

Fantastic experience, totally worth it, in the tourist area but not touristy…read more TLDR Strolling around, wanting a break from the hills, we wanted seafood and close. I looked up LSD and we headed for it. Our immediate inclination was to sit outside and my friend approached a member of staff. He brusquely told my buddy that we would have to talk to the manager. Everyone was moving quickly and the outside was pretty full. The manager came over and said it would be at least a 45minute wait. After the curtness of the initial contact and the wait time, we paused. I asked about seating inside and the manager said he was short staffed asked if we were in a hurry. I said we didn't mind waiting if we could have drinks. He said for sure and sat us in the cool of the inside. We ordered a pitcher of sangria; he recommended the special which was light and refreshing. Delicious! The pictures show everything we ordered and there was not a single disappointment in the bunch. One note, the white fish and rose shrimp crude is a cold dish; very light, refreshing and full of flavor. As we were about to order dessert, we saw them serve the smoked salmon to another table and since more than one of us had been eyeing it, we ordered one. So glad we did. All the desserts were perfect. We also had a nice white wine and a pair of old fashioneds to round out the meal. The staff were moving throughout and it was the best dining experience we had in Porto! Highly recommended.
