Lexus reaching out the same day. Me thinking everything is going to be fixed.
Elizabeth K.

Tbh I held off on writing this review but every single time I wash my hair, brush my hair, or see my hair in the mirror, I literally get so upset and regret ever walking into this salon. I talk myself out of writing the review because the owner Lexus is actually a decent gal but maybe not the best gal to do a bleach root touch up and that's the only reason I'm writing this review. Long story short, I went in to do a bleach root touch up. My hair had grown out the appropriate amount 6-8 weeks so I needed to get my roots done. The first time I walked in, I had an allergic reaction to the bleach the salon uses as default; my scalp was on fire within minutes of application. No, my hair was not freshly washed. Lexus was kind enough to rinse it out, pick up the bleach that I normally use at home from the pro beauty supply store, and have me back in her chair. She did the standard root bleach application, mentioned that she applied conditioner on the hair that was already lightened, and then had me sit for 45 minutes. She also mentioned that I had a band on the lower section of the back of my head that she was going to get out for me. Everything was fine. 45 minutes later, she checks my hair says it needs just 5 more minutes. Has another gal keep an eye on me. But then after 5 minutes, the other stylists decide I need another 10 minutes. And then another 5 minutes. How much ever time passes after that, the other stylist rinses me out. Everything seems great. I sit in the chair and see that my hair is white and I love it. Then the other gal comes in with the toner, starts applying it, comments on how thick my hair is, how she wishes her hair was that thick, I feel great. And then I see the brush that she's using to comb the toner through my hair. The brush itself was black but the bristles were now white. My hair was falling out in literal clumps into this brush. I figure that's okay, when I do my roots at home, I get some breakage. Everything is fine. A few minutes pass, I get a look at the little tray that has all the salon stuff on it. There's another brush with my hair in it. I ask her if the brushing is necessary since so much of my hair is falling out. She says she's trying to evenly distribute the toner. I say "maybe we should stop brushing my hair since it's all falling out." Lexus swings by and says breakage is normal and that she would only be worried if my hair was falling out in clumps and if it was gooey and stringy... which it was... They let the toner sit for the appropriate amount of time. Washed it out. And then I refused the blow dry because I didn't want them to continue to brush all of the hair off my head. Another gal blew dry a few strands just to show me the color. I tipped and I left. I got home and saw that there was serious overlap between the new growth that was just bleached and the preexisting prelightened hair. So now I have breakage all over my goddamn head two inches from my scalp. My hair falls out in clumps in the shower, no matter how delicate I am with it. I texted Lexus and she said she's never had this kind of "reaction" from any of the products she normally uses but like.. there was no reaction had to the bleach she bought per my recommendation (which was based on me using that bleach on myself normally at home... for the past year). It's all breakage right at the spot where the new growth meets the previously lightened hair... She recommended moisturizing treatments and even offered complimentary moisturizing treatments but... like... the damage is done... I had beautiful shoulder length platinum hair for over a year and now it's severely, severely damaged, stretchy, and broken. I did the moisturizing treatments she recommended. I do them every single time I wash my hair. I thought that would fix the compromised band around my entire head. I'm talking, I did this for months and honestly, fuck-all has helped. So Lexus, I tried what you advised and gave my hair months to recover but it hasn't and it's your fault and this is my review.

I finally found MY salon!!! ‍ Now, fair warning: I'm a little bit of a salon snob. (Okay, maybe more than a little ) But in my defense, I literally named my first daughter after my former stylist, so when I find "the one," I'm loyal for life. And for the record... she moved away first, so let's not throw around the word hypocrite Here's my personal salon checklist: Fun area where I can wander before/after A funky, welcoming vibe inside A stylist who knows their stuff and is super friendly AMAZING products And of course... FABULOUS results And guess what? This place checked EVERY. SINGLE. BOX. Shoutout to Zoey she absolutely nailed it! My hair looks incredible, I felt totally taken care of, and the whole experience was just FUN. Located in the Five Points area, so parking can be a hassle arriving early at busy times suggested!

I seriously can't stop looking at myself in the mirror -- I'm that excited about it. Libby really listened, nailed the vision, and made the whole experience feel fun and effortless. The salon itself was super clean, welcoming, and everyone there was incredibly friendly. From start to finish, it was such a great first-time experience. I'm already looking forward to coming back and would 100% recommend Libby to anyone ready for a change. She's amazing!

For the first time in five years, I was 100% thrilled from the initial phone call to make the appointment to walking out the door with the haircut I've been trying to get. Thank you, West Coast Hair and Heather for an excellent job! I've already referred you to a few of my friends, and I will definitely be back.

I went into another salon and asked them for a conditioning treatment to help with my broken hair as well as I asked for an 8G toner to be put in. 8G is the color I have had previously at West Coast hair and had told Kayla I was happy with (read previous review). The toner was left in my hair for 20 minutes at the new salon (NOT due to me requesting any specific time frame for them to leave on, thats the time they naturally did!) and the conditioning treatment helped make the damaged hair less noticeable. Not only did Kayla make me take time off from work to go in and then do nothing the help correct the damage Kayla had caused, I was humiliated and berated being told that they could not help me when it is now 100% certain that Kayla did not leave it on as long as she had previously, and her overlapping the bleach caused the breakage. Avoid the embarrassment of being told it is your fault for not being able to put into words how to fix their stylists error of breaking my hair, and not leaving the toner in and making me feel it was my fault. Shame on the owner for the way she handled it, and shame on Kayla for not owning up and re toning and conditioning to fix her error.
