Their bloody ID cards are temperamental. They have to be held a certain way to release the door so you can deposit your cans. You can get cash or credit from the store, which is nice. What's funny is I used to make about $8.50 a bag when I took them to the stand alone machine at Albertson's but each bag gets me about $5.40 at BottleDrop. So, it's a pricey convenience. But if you've ever fed cans and bottles into a stand alone machine, I guess it's worth it to pull open a door (when the machine finally reads your card) and wrestle in a bag of cans. But you also have to get new stickers and new bags in the store, retrieve your money or credit inside and can't take more than $94 a day. I have been doing this for a month and made $80 so I don't think I will have to worry about not getting more than $94 a day. But the guys ahead of me the other day had $764 credit! And, it's all just to get your deposit back so it's not making you any money. But I do it. read more

Tweaker looking staff was dropping f bombs and calling customers a holes...then at closing, yelling to get the f out. Left my bag of cans there because I didn't want to interact with staff. Today my husband and I drove to the redemption center on Stowe Dr (st.) in Medford. The attendant spoke very little English and only spoke to me in Spanish, which I do not understand. She did not count the contents in my two large black bags and would only give me $3.00 for them. She was rude to most of the patrons and I really hope they get an employee who speaks English! read more

My husband has Alzheimer's and he loves to go to the redemption center! He went inside to get a trolley while I waited at the door with the bottles and out came Mardee, the manager to get his bottles so that I could park my car. She helped him the entire time when he had problems. When he was done she brought his boxes out and had me drive up to pick him up. Mardee, thank you for going above what is expected of you. Covid-19 temporary hours: 8am - 5pm (7 day a week) This was our 1st visit because we drink the heck outta La Croix and the bags of cans are piling up with the closure of the independent store bottle drops *sadness* ***This place has a MAX of 350 cans/bottles per transaction*** BUT, while using the automatic kiosk, you can scan/combine multiple cash vouchers for a single cash out transaction *thumbs up* This place always seems to have a line, so just expect to wait. They have done a really good job of establishing social distancing (every 6 ft there is a marker). They have multiple people working to guide customers during the lengthy process; ALL staff are wearing N95 masks and are wearing gloves *thumbs up* There's a parking lot notzi *useless position - no further comment*, a front door person making sure that there are never more than 25 people in the enclosed area, 2 attendants to help customers/ constantly sweeping, 1 staff member working the front desk. All cash redemption's are made via automated kiosk *easy peasy* I'm happy to find a place (a bit outta the way - 5 minutes off of EXIT 30) that you can redeem tons of cans/bottles during this strange time. It was easy to get a bigger job done in an efficient way. The line took a while, so be prepared to wait in line outside (20-30 minutes). I have been using BDRC for about two years and never had a problem until yesterday. I had several bags of bottles and cans which equaled $46.00 total. I took my receipts to the cashier to get my money, I was told that I would only get $35.00 instead of $46.00. They stole $11.00. Be aware of that. If you are supposed to be getting more than $35.00, you may not get all of your money!!! read more

The lines recently have been long starting early in the morning. The machines are struggling to keep up with the high volume of bottles coming in after the Fourth of July. The green bag drop off doors have been closed and overwhelmed with the high volume too. The White City green bag kiosk has been closed as it was full. The south Fred Meyer green bag kiosk is new and easy in and out, but as of this review closed due to being full. The workers said they are short personal and can't keep up. The redemption center is a pain but the people who work there, it's probably worse for them. Just think, they have to deal with a whole bunch of either angry people who had to wait long, or homeless people who have been tracking around cans for days just to try to get some money. It's not the associates fault. It's not like they decided one day that they would love to work at a BottleDrop redemption center. Give them some slack please? I have visited this location many times. Each and every time it has been a nightmare. Recently I drove to Grants Pass on 2 occasions and it was a good experience. Yesterday I tried the Medford location again. Drop Door didn't work yet again. Customers were very rude. Security Guard was completely inappropriate yelling Hey at me across the parking lot. I will NEVER return to this location again!!!! Found the OBRC facility in White City. No staff there to help but no line, and the Drop Door worked. I've been using The green bag method at BottleDrop for a couple of years, and it has always been an easy and efficient way to get my dimes back. I guess I am fortunate to have a handicap parking placard and then I can park right in front of the drop box, so I have not had to deal with the parking lot attendant. There is always a long line of people wanting to go inside and return their bottles that way, so that could be frustrating, the only problem I have is the odor but what are you gonna do with the bunch of dirty and smelly cans and bottles. It is definitely worth spending the few dollars for the green bags and labels, as I consider my time too valuable to wait in line just to feed cans into the machines. read more

Customer service for the bottles that wouldn't scan was fine, but the the indoor facility (with no ventilation?) stunk to high heaven. Finally got out of there with a new Lincoln in my shirt pocket, wondering if I'd ever choose to wiff that pungent odor again. While exiting the driveway, the underside of my front bumper bottomed out, literally hitting the street! Nope. The red lid can have my chump change, even if the 5-cent "refundable deposit" just doubled. :-\ My time is still worth more than the effort and sensory overload for what...a fiver? lol read more

They try to enforce the rule that does not even exist in the manual, The rule is not written anywhere in the building. Guard rudely approaches you and tells you, I have the authority to tell you that you are violating the rule. I was with my daughter and using two machines, and guard approached me and stated that we can not use two machine. I told him on is for her, and he comes back catching me helping my daughter, and said "I told you, you can not use two machine. He stops one of our machine". I asked his full name, he does not give me his full name, he gave me only his first name Joe. He said he is not going to give me his full name. Legally he should have give me a guard number similar to the badge number. But he was so rude that he did not think I was worth his time to give me that information. I told him if it is not written in the manual and anywhere in the building I will talk to the manager about the incident. As a result of encounter, I was so frustrated that I even lost one of my recipe from the bottle drop. I could not even talk to him and explain him what is authority and how rules cannot be enforced if they do not exist in the writings. But he was so mean and rude, I had to call customer service and had to put this review. Dear guard, Who even has no idea what is authority. Authority to enforce the rule will be given if that rule exist in written form! So does the law, law can not be enforced, if the law does not exist in a written form! Guard is very rude lacks any kind of customer service, on the top of it, he is not educated of his own authority at all. He introduced himself as Joe and claims that he is the only guard there. He states one machine per a person rule. I called their main line and they confirmed that they have the rule that is not exist on the manual. On the other hand, also the law, or the rule that they claiming exist is not enforced equally. Last time when I was doing bottle drop, one white lady was using two machine at the same time and no one has told her anything. So, I felt racially discriminated against during my visit. Guard was so rude, stating me that it is private entity and he has the right to refuse the service to anyone. Well it does not matter private or public or corporation. Law is equal to everyone, no rule exist and can not be enforced if it is not stated in neither in the manual or in location in a publicly visible place! Be aware! read more

The Security Officer on Sunday, October 25 around 3:45pm was incredibly unprofessional, combative, rude and unhelpful. In short, he exemplified the "Rent-a-Cop" stereotype with a general disposition for the public. We went to drop off our green bags and due to the lack of signage, parking and space we attempted to drop them off near the opening of the large garage door on the south side of the building. We have done this 3-4 times in the recent past, without incident. With the noise from the area and the fact that his mouth was covered by a facemask, we didn't hear the security guard when he tried to get our attention from the primary entrance. The first thing I heard was him saying to my wife was "First, you need to be quiet and listen to me". He told us to place our bags near the overflowing crates because they don't want people going back to the garage door for "safety reasons" and when I said we've done this several times in the past, he responded by saying this is how it needs to be done and that we've been doing it wrong. I responded simply by saying "A little respect would be nice" and he continued his argumentative behavior and responded "you have all the respect" and attempted to go into another long and unnecessary defense of his position. I could see quite clearly he was simply trying to express some sort of authority and I didn't have an interest in indulging him. I simply said "no, I don't" and shut the car door and drove off. I would expect a properly trained security guard to intelligently communicate the proper information and de-escalate situations, not escalate them and be argumentative with customers. Seems like common sense to me. I hope this situation is seen by management as a training opportunity for the security guard and an opportunity to create better signage and a more consistent process for the green bag drop off so customers aren't continually having to guess and risk being accosted by "Security" Guards. read more

Chronically busy with not enough employees to keep up. The little drop off area is usually so full you can't use it. Since it's the only place in town to do it you'd think they could keep it properly staffed. On the plus side, every time I've dropped off bags they have always been counted in a very timely way. Can I say this is the first time I came to drop bottles. Actually, I brought my in-law to drop. Being from California-these kind of places are usually packed and dirty. For our town being so big it's ridiculous to have one location and spend 30 minutes waiting just to see the front doors. They seem to never clear out the green bag deposit either. Wow! What a great experience. I went in for the first time to pick up bags so I could drop off my bottles and cans without having to stand in line. An employee took me under his wing and helped me at the kiosk and because I couldn't remember my pin, at the front desk as well. The line to drop off bottles if you don't set up an account was super long and everyone looked hot. I'm so glad my neighbor told me about this. Yes the recycling center is kinda out of the way coming from Phoenix but it's quick and fast and I've never come to find a bunch of broken machines like it used to be at the grocery store. There's a sink & soap to wash your hands afterward and a money machine dispenses cash so you don't have to also wait in line. So overall it's a much quicker process coming here. read more

Drove 50+ miles. It took a while to locate- THEY never answer phone for assistance, & message machine "full". While running other Medford errands pursued info (Recology in Ashland) were gracious enough to assist via phone. While pulling in to area - looked like a "block buster" line around building. Unwilling to obliterate another 2 hours to accomplish. I was NEVER anti-gov't. until NOW. Utter incompetence. From this paltry program to attempt to recoup $ doled toward concept I believe in. Yes, green bags are the way to go. Get bags on a big roll inside, along with your labels and a barcode tag for your keyring. Pull up between 5 am and 11 pm at the Medford depot, park and put the labelled bags down their chute, which opens with the keyring tag, and there you are. 2 bags per person per day I think. Fred Meyer and other stores even have kiosks where you can scan your tag and get a store voucher for your balance PLUS 20%! I believe you can do that also with the paper tags you get inside the Bottle Depot if you feed your bottles one by one into the machines inside. But get the bags instead, it is quick and you don't need to go inside except once in a while for more bags and labels. To those who are discouraged by the inside operation, please don't put your deposit bottles in with recyclables. Rogue Recycling says it adds to sorting costs, more than it repays them. Do a green bag! or give them to kids in your neighborhood if they want to do the return thing at the store. read more

Is this the only game in town? Today I went in and loaded up their machine and got a ticket for $30.90 yay and yippie. Well! it started out good but the payout machine did not like my ticket *from their other machine) so after a couple of dozen tries, I went to the front desk. She told me to wait for the technician in the back. Before he came back I tried another dozen times to no avail. Then finally the guy took my ticket and scanned it in the machine to no avail, telling me It must have already been paid. Well, that was BS but he said he would pay me $4 to make me happy or I could go back to the front desk and have the girl there help me. So back I went she grudgingly scanned my ticket and after a couple of minutes, she asked me which machine gave me the ticket. To which I pointed it out, after checking further she told me "that" machine (exactly like all the others in line with it) was not hooked up to the network so she would physically check it. A few minutes later she returned and paid me the money owed. All ended well but only because of my persistence, be careful when redeeming your bottles and cans. read more

Bags are being mis-counted. This has only been happening recently with the last few bags. I am missing about $1 each bag. I DO count, and the entire time I've used this service the bags have been the same amount around 4.50 (after they take the counting fee.) and has matched what I counted. I have been putting the same amount about in my bags (and counting) and the last several times they came back 3.20-3.40 per bag. I at first chalked it up to a mistake and didn't really think about it - but counted more carefully my next 2 bags. Sure enough those 4.60-4.80 bags came back 3.40 each bag...when they did not have the same amount to begin with. So, either someone is NOT counting the bags and just "guessing" a # OR they are deliberately ripping off people. (I know it's a small amount - It's still stealing.) read more

After a 3 hour wait out in the sun to cash in my cans, I signed up for the green bag program. Today was the first time my husband went back to get a box of bags and tags. When he went to the doors he was told that he would need to stand in the 3 hour line due to a set amount of people being allowed in the building. My husband is a sweet heart and peace keeper so he let it be and came home without bags and explained what had been said. Well I'm not to much of a peace keeper and called the Oregon headquarters to find out if this was accurate practice, just to be told absolutely not, staff is to have them wait right at the doors and let people in straight to the desk to get their bags at the next available entry. I started using the Medford Bottle Drop sometime in March when all other bottle redemptions closed. At first I was thrilled on the convenience of dropping off my green bags and having grocery money applied to my account. I soon reached my quarterly limit of 15 bags and by June 1st was notified that I could not redeem any more bags until July 1st... no problem! We just stored our bags in our shed. Now that we're in July, I decided to do a bottle run and drop off my 5 bags. I patiently waited to get the notification on my phone of how much grocery money I received... 8 days later and they have only redeemed 3 of my 5 bags. I emailed them to ask how this problem could be solved, no response... I call, no one picks up the phones. I google only to see that this is a common issue where people's cans (money) is lost (stolen). For me, that's roughly $17 which isn't the end of the world but when you think about this being a continuous issue, they are down right stealing $7-8 a BAG from people. I don't think I'll be using Bottle Drop anymore and I absolutely will not be recommending them to anyone. No amount of convenience is worth being stolen from. read more

This is my third trip to attempt to turn in bottles at the BottleDrop in Medford. The door access for the Green Bags hasn't been operational for weeks. What an inefficient nightmare! At 8:15 AM on a Tuesday, there was no parking left. As I sat there in confusion, waiting for someone to leave, an extremely unhelpful employee came up (young man, black mask with attitude) and asked me what I was doing. After I said there was no parking, he said in a VERY exasperated tone, "There's never any parking." He noticed I had green bags and said, "Put the green bags on the cart." I asked where, since there were no carts anywhere near the Green bag drop off door that I could see and he said, "Do the loop and go down to the other side of the building." What's "The loop"? (Do I go behind the building somehow?) So I rework my car to go down in front of the building to the other side and try and figure out where to put my car (no parking, of course) and where to put the bags. The parking guy is just standing there talking to another employee, so I ask them and they point out a cart with blue bags on it. The area is covered with broken glass, the employees (at least outside) seem miserable. Since I am now the one with experience, people are asking ME where to put their bags! Anything to avoid dealing with the people who work outside, I guess. I need to go in to buy some more green bags but I'm thinking nothing merits this kind of unpleasantness. Plus, I don't know if you have to wait in the line that circles around the parking lot just to purchase bags? There's no one to ask (the parking guy has disappeared altogether). I think the dump may be accepting plastic bottles again and I wouldn't mind if BottleDrop did a quick Bottle Flop and just disappeared. All in all, a dreadful place. read more
