We live within walking distance and I've always wanted to go in. I received a gift card, so perfect time. I was made to feel unbelievably uncomfortable. Many people that I thought were employees, but who were bothered by questions. It's a liquor store not a bar, if they don't want kids inside the door then put up a sign or say something to me when I walk in. Do not talk crap to other customers about me while I'm looking around. Bottles and Cans is not only a great place to purchase beer, wine and spirits, but it is a great overall shopping experience. For people who like to explore different craft beers, Joe and Carly, have the knowledge to help find something that you're looking for. Joe, who is getting his cicerone certification, is my go-to guy to show me what I should try next. My favorite feature in this store is the wall of single bottles so you can create your own six pack. The selection in this section is much larger than one would get at Binny's or the grocery store. This allows you to mix and match different styles. Also, because each bottle is priced individually, you can budget your money within that six-pack. If you're a fan of B&C on Facebook, they are consistently having tastings. Sometimes these tastings are with the actual brewers which is fun for us beer nerds. Even if you aren't in the North Center area, there isn't a store like this anywhere in Chicago. read more

Cute neighborhood Wine and Craft beer store to satisfy all your needs. OWNERS are some of the best people I know, completely involved in the community. Always got something going on like a beer or wine tasting. They just donated their space for a event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and performed to perfection. They have one of the best craft beer selections that I have ever seen. It's a bit of a hike from Ravenswood/ Lincoln Square, but well worth it for the second to none craft beer selection and the ability to build your own six pack (from anything available in the store!). I recently tried a Kentucky sour style ale (from Local Option, another Chicago staple) and I was looking for something similar. The individual who helped me was able to recommend- off the top of his head- three options for me to choose from. My friend and I was heading to a BYOB spot when we found this place. The selection was great and they have friendly staff to help you. I went here today after finding out that they served "Gold Star" Beer from Israel! They are one of the only locations that sells this amazing beer! I found out about this place and immediately went on yelp and the good reviews just made me want to go more. So within a day and a half, I went to this mecca of liquor stores. Carly and the staff at Bottles and Cans are incredible. My wife and I were connected to them while planning our wedding, since we were looking for beer and alcohol for our special day. Our initial appointment with Carly to discuss options turned into a three hour long session where we tasted a wide variety of wines, alcohols, and beers. It was not only super informative, it was a lot of fun! Carly was very up front and transparent when it came to quantities and pricing, which helped us stay well under our budget. Carly answered every question we had along the way, and gave us the confidence to know that our bar would be unique and varied for our wedding. She even delivered the alcohol to the venue personally and helped get the bar area set up for our catering staff. Simply put, our wedding was special in part because Carly took such wonderful care of us. We can not recommend Bottles and Cans highly enough. Searched beer menu store said they have quilmes. I drive out of my way to go get it...no quilmes. To make it worse, when I got there the only worker was helping a guy try to figure out what he wanted to drink for 10 minutes.
