Another great experience at this location in Manituish Waters. It is very clean, modern, quiet, and very good service with high-quality food. My wife had the Dixie's Delight Salad, I had the Chorkie, and my father had the Cuban Bichon. All were good. We also had a Bear Claw and a Caramel Latte. Great views to the lake. Everything was meticulous and clean as we experience on every visit. We will be back next year.. read more

We made a special trip because this place sounded lovely. I even called ahead to warn them that eight of us would arrive 30 minutes before closing--apparently a crime. From the moment we walked in, we were very unwelcome. We ordered quickly, smiled politely, and were met with unwavering annoyance. Half our group was served normally; the other half had their meals packed to-go as she stood by the door like a bouncer. My husband was still eating his chili when, at exactly 2:00 p.m., the lights began flashing like it was bar time. Patrons exchanged stunned looks. A new mother's baby cried as she was abruptly scooped up. Perhaps Uline should train their employees to have more personality than their boxes! :) read more

Walking in for a quick breakfast casserole for take out Dixie's was quiet and reminded me of a library. Some patrons were sitting and drinking coffee and reading quietly. As I walked towards the counter it looked more like a coffee shop some ladies were getting their coffee to go. The service was quick and convenient. The casserole was delicious. This place is great! The vibe is very calm and cozy - exactly what I'm looking for when I'm up here. A good portion of the tables look out over the Manitowish River and it's a stunning view. They have a good selection of food; My folks and I got the breakfast burrito and cherry fritter, both of which were delightful! They have a wide variety of drinks which I was pleasantly surprised by. I got a matcha which has the perfect amount of milk mixed in (they have plenty of dairy free milks) and came sweetened, but not too heavily. My fiancé got the strawberry slushy which was so fresh and tasty! The service was fairly quick and the location is pretty close to several hotels. 10/10! read more

Every single aspect of this cute little coffee house was perfect. The food, the coffee, the views, the ambiance, the service - all fantastic! We went three times in one weekend while in Manitowish waters for a wedding. Our group got a variety of different coffees, some hot some iced. Ranging from cold brews and iced coffees to pumpkin spice lattes - all were great! We also loved the breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. We're all from larger cities where the prices are way too high for the mediocre quality of the food, drinks, and service. Dixie's blew us away! 10/10. read more

The venue is BEAUTIFUL! We had a panini and drinks on the lower lever just under the balcony. It was serene with their lovely landscaping and potted flowers at the end of the pier were a site to behold. Drinks were delish, panini was good, salads were average! The lack of the 5th star is due to service. After giving a tip the waitress refused to come down the stairs, saying: "I don't have time to come down there!" And when ordering the panini the question was asked, what's on your panini? The curt response was, "Look the sign!" As she pointed to a side wall - so not necessary! If this cafe can step up on their customer service and salads, it will be a grand slam business! Good luck - it's a diamond in the rough! read more

A must visit if you are in the area. The ladies are friendly*** and welcoming, the coffee is fresh and they have a nice variety of pastries and breakfast food. Plus, the views of Vance Lake or gorgeous. It will be a great start to your day. If it's to cold to go sit outside, sit by the fireplace inside. You cannot go wrong. We stopped by twice during our weekend visit. We did take out one day and enjoyed the quaintness of the coffeehouse the other day. We tried the old fashioned donut, cheese and raspberry danish and raspberry danish one day. I had a chai tea with soy and my fiancé had a black medium coffee. The next day while at the coffee house, I had a coffee with added flavor syrup of chocolate and toasted marshmallow. He stuck with the black coffee. We had the egg and veggie frittata and cinnamon roll. Our fav was the old fashioned style donut, frittata and cinnamon roll. The only down side... very limited parking. And it can be tricky... it's a popular spot. Just be patient and know it's worth it. ***I wanted to point out the friendly factor. We REALLY appreciated the few places like Dixie's, that were friendly and welcoming (even when busy). Friendly aside, we also really appreciated the businesses that seemed genuinely happy to have customers in general. We visited a lot of places while we were in town. We are happy, friendly people that enjoy talking to others and meeting new people. When we try talking to a local bartender, server, owner of an establishment (when they had time to talk) and say we are from out of town, make small talk and then get cold shouldered or treated rudely .... it speaks VOLUMES. Sadly, we found a severe lack of customer service, welcoming people, and friendliness at most of the establishments we visited in Manitowish Waters and surrounding areas. Or it took people a long time to warm up. We live in Chicago where people aren't always friendly so we know what rude is, but we are from small towns so we aren't "those people". So THANK YOU DIXIE'S for being one of the very few places that actually made us feel welcomed! :) read more

Beautiful new upscale coffee shop overlooking a quiet lake in Manitowish Waters. Natural lighting, pleasant music, and tasteful Northwoods decor make if very comfortable to stay a while. Free WiFi to finish up some work in a quiet atmosphere. I only had a cup of decaf, so I cannot speak for all of their menu items. I was happy with my coffee, but I'll admit I'm not a huge SB coffee fan, if that's the type of brew you seek. Staff was very attentive & polite, prices reasonable. Go to Dixie's if you want a cup of coffee in an attractive, clean setting, but forget about Dixie's for lunch. I've been there many times, and the ambience is great, but the food is not. The lunch offerings are a panini of the day with a soup of the day, but the restaurant has run out of the daily specials before closing time on more than one occasion I've been there. At 1pm today, I got the very last serving of soup in the whole place, a "steak and ale soup" which had the appearance and consistency of a pale, congealed gravy. Several customers came in after me, and we could hear people say, "What? No soup?" (After all, this is January in northern Wisconsin!) As for the paninis, the meat in them is consistently grisly and on the tough side. Although at least 3 women work there, it always seems to take them longer than you'd think to make a panini, and today was no exception. The best part of lunch at Dixie's is the potato chips. read more

I have always held this restaurant in high regard but recently was vastly disappointed. At 12:45pm, well within the lunch hour, they had sold out of their panini of the day. The panini was a tuna fish salad so you wonder how hard it is to open a can and make some more! And they never bothered to take down from their sign that they are out of it. Also, they have a lot of workers standing around watching one young lady do all the work. Maybe they are emulating construction workers! Lastly, despite there only being 2 other people in the entire restaurant, it took a long time to get our 2 orders. Maybe time for some management changes. read more

This place has improved so much since it first opened! It is now one of our favorite stops. The coffee is good. In an earlier review I mentioned that they only had those yucky little fake cream cups for coffee, but now they have 1/2 and 1/2 and milk in lovely silver pitchers. The bakery items are delicious, but the best part about his place is the ambiance. It is lovely inside and out. The decor and seating are comfortable and inviting. The service is always friendly. We have spent several mornings or afternoons relaxing with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa. The only issue we still have is the parking situation- it is difficult to get in and out of this lot with the design and very limited spaces, but people seem to make do. read more

This place is amazing! I ended up walking from my hotel to this coffee shop every morning. The location was very convenient and picturesque. It is right on the lake so you can sit outside and drink your coffee. Not to mention, the coffee here is delicious along with the pastries. If you are visiting Manitowish Waters you should stop by this hidden gem. read more

Brand spanking new coffee shop in MW owned by the folks from Coontail! Inside it's spacious & modern with plenty of tables and really nice bathrooms. Standard espresso drinks as well as drip with a nice pastry cabinet to boot! The espresso is definitely very good; not sure what they use but it's exceptional. Awesome place!!! Right on the bike path and additional car parking across the street. Great patio and view of the lake with very comfortable chairs. I enjoyed a Arnold Palmer and she enjoyed hot coffee. Social distancing inside & out and servers were wearing masks. Closes at 4 pm. read more
