I absolutely love my doctor and have had positive experiences with the staff overall. However, the billing process needs serious improvement. After my appointment in January, I was initially told I would not receive a bill. A few months later, my credit card was charged $28, which was not an issue. However, when the charge appeared on my bank card, it showed up as "Boulder Valley Dental Office" rather than Boulder Valley Dermatology. Because the charge name did not match the provider I visited, I reasonably believed it could be fraudulent and reported it to my bank. I later spoke with Flora in the billing department, who explained that they are aware of this issue and have been trying to resolve it for over a year. I was also told this problem primarily affects customers using certain banks. Unfortunately, despite the confusion being caused by the billing descriptor, I was still charged a late fee. My original balance was approximately $28, but I recently received a bill for $63 due to added fees. While I appreciate Flora's assistance during our phone conversation, I was ultimately told by her supervisor that I was responsible for paying the full amount, which I did. I truly like the medical staff and the care I receive here, but this situation felt unprofessional and unfair. At a minimum, patients should be proactively warned that charges may appear under a completely different business name to help avoid unnecessary fraud disputes and late fees. The professional thing to do here would be to give me those late fees back. read more

Many years ago, I had a close personal friend who was a dermatologist. This relationship gave me an inside 'look' at dermatology as a specialty as well as an inside understanding of the business of dermatology. I left my yearly "skin check-up" with Dr. Gallagher with 3 impressions: He was not interested in answering questions. It felt as though he was working on an inanimate object. When I requested that a mole be removed he said, "Make an appointment." These 3 impressions sent the message, "Customer focus is not a priority." Too bad. He could be a very bright guy but I'll never know because I won't be returning. read more

Dont go here, they are completely incompetent and negligent to their patients. First the P.A. (Zoe) Misdiagnosed my condition for allergies and had me taking way too much antihistamines which were making me sick and not solving the skin disorder I was having. When I informed that pa that it wasn't working and my skin condition was getting worse she told me to take more antihistamines? I got a second opinion and it turns out my condition was more serious than an allergy and didn't need antihistamine. Then the office manager called me completely apathetic and did not care that I was misdiagnosed and didn't even apologize and just asked if I'd like my next appointment canceled? Unbelievable. Upon entering the place I instantly felt comfortable despite my little abnormalitie to myself,they were very professional I didn't feel embarrassed or anything like that I mean okay I'm not going to tell you guys why I went there but anyways all better now! Anyways they were very professional I really enjoyed the conversation and they made me feel comfortable and I didn't feel I felt a little anxiety of course that's normal but all was well so I do definitely recommend this place for anybody that had any concerned about skin conditions they would like to address. read more

The results of my procedure were fantastic. Elena L. C. walked me through every step, and explained what was going to happen, which eased my fears and questions. When you are getting any kind of cosmetic procedure, you have a lot of questions, and she was more than willing to take the time to answer all of my concerns and questions. Elena would always return my emailed or phoned in any concerns or issues after the procedures, which is more than helpful to know that she is there for you. Dr Gallagher is awesome! He removed a fairly large mole right above my lip, and left hardly a scar! I was very impressed by his skill. The receptionist was quite pushy with me whenever I called to make my first appointment, which was not the best first impression. If it wasn't for being referred by a friend to see Dr Gallagher, I may have not scheduled an appt.. Overall though, I'm very pleased and highly recommend Dr Gallagher! read more

I requested an appointment on Thursday and was able to be seen on Friday. I had a severe sunburn and needed it to be checked out. Ryan Bird was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. He could tell that I was worried and his bedside manner was so refreshing. Doctor visits make me anxious, but I was immediately at ease here. I left there feeling better and had a plan of action for my sunburn and the best ways to prevent it in the future. I could not have been more impressed. read more

First off, this place got me in for an appointment within 5 days of my phone call and keep in mind I called 15 other places that had appointments scheduled out to April so I was very pleased about that. My wait was not very long (5 minutes at most) and everyone was very friendly and considerate. Madison Amos, PA-C is who I saw and was very professional and listened to all of my concerns. She gave me 3 different treatment options and allowed me to make my own decisions without her trying to sway with her own opinions and provided sound medical advice to help make my decision. Terrible bedside manner by both physicians. They treated a plantar wart on my foot four times and it is still there. They charged my insurance $150 + each time they froze it. It has never improved and I suggested they use a blistering agent which worked well on me as a child. They said they just do that for kids because it doesn't hurt while applying it. But it works after one application, so why not do it? They make a lot more money this way. I asked him to look at my back while I was 7 months pregnant. He was obviously disgusted with my body and winced and looked away as I tried to shift around. It was a very insulting moment and by a doctor no less. I had lots of bumps which went away after I had my baby, but I was so embarrassed I just wanted to get out of there. I was a regular patient of theirs for several years but I will never go back. read more

From the minute I walked in from the moment I left, I was treated with the kind of respect and professionalism that makes me feel confident and comfortable. The receptionist was efficient and kind. Dr. Gallagher is incredibly knowledgable and warm. Julie, the aesthetician, explained everything she was going to do with perfect clarity. They took me into my appointment at exactly my appointment time, and then took their time with me once I was in the office. I never felt rushed, and yet they were clearly keeping right on schedule. Another thing I loved is that two young people were playing with toys in the waiting room--not sure if they were patients or children of patients, but I loved that they were also taken good care of. I have seen both doctors here- one to check my moles and one to help my acne. Both were disengaged and pushing products and medication that I didn't need. Also both required me to get blood tests and other unnecessary tests, which I suspect was to rack up the bill. Neither were personable or struck me as genuine people. This is a practice I would not return to. read more

Absolutely love this office, from the sweet receptionist that works multiple locations to nurses and drs. After loosing my husband and few months prior I was looking for anything to make me want to smile. Each visit I walked out very satisfied. Paying cash for these visits can get pricey but they continously were trying to cut out where they could. Hope to go back soon read more

Simply the worst experience I've ever had trying to make an appointment. I've heard amazing things about Dr. Gallagher, and I was never even able to meet with him, so this is not directed at the Doctors that are part of this practice. Receptionists, scheduling an appointment online, or trying to get someone to pick up the phone is literally impossible. I have honestly waited on hold over 1.5 hours after 5 different attempts, and not once was able to speak with someone. So then I submitted a request to schedule an appointment online. Again, not a single email or phone call back after over a week. After a 6th attempt and 20 minute hold, someone answered! Scheduled the appointment, and when I used the address on their website (5420 Arapahoe Rd), it took to me a location no where near the office. Fine, Google Maps is wrong... no this office's fault. I then looked up the map on the bvderm website, and the pin dropped on the map at 48th and Arapahoe showing the office location is also wrong. How do you not even have the pin on your own website in the right place??! Especially when you know Google Maps takes you to the wrong location! I called immediately when I couldn't find the office, and shocker... no one answered. I never did make it to my appointment after not being able to reach someone for directions, and still don't have a clue where the office is actually located. I'm sad to not have been able to meet with Dr. Gallagher, but I couldn't trust his staff to handle sensitive medical and insurance details if someone paid me to do it. read more
