I'm happy for practices successful enough to be booked out, and I can patiently wait for a doctor whose reputation has contributed to this. I called to schedule a new patient exam and was asked what I'm interested in. After answering that question (with my concern about potential skin cancer) was I told that the doctors are not accepting new patients. I told the receptionist that it was strange to be asked what I'm interested in first, if the doctor is not accepting new patients. I asked if the answer would be different if I was interested in cosmetic services and she told me "yes". There would be a significant wait, but I could schedule for a cosmetic consult, and I could not have medical concerns addressed at such a visit. This told me everything I need to know about this practice. Skin cancer, which is potentially lethal, is not something they have time for - cosmetics pay much more. read more

I visited Azeal after a few visits to different dermatology practices in the Boulder/Longmont area -- all of which consisted of appointments that were impersonal and rushed. Azeal was quite different. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with friendliness. The waiting area is very clean and modern, yet comfortable as well. The front desk folks were very nice. Dr. Hale was the best dermatologist I have visited in 12 years (yes-- since I was a kid in Illinois!). Not only was she thorough, but she was very friendly and provided detailed answers to every single question I asked. She provided me with skin recommendations, conducted a quick and proper treatment to remove a mole, and gave me reassurance that my skin looked good and my other moles/marks were healthy. I never felt more confident in my skin health than when I left Azeal. I highly recommend going here if you are looking for a personal and top-notch dermatology practice. After suffering for over a year and trying several medicines and even an oral prescription that had horrible side effects I found Dr Jamie, thanks to my wife's research. She came up with a plan that was simple to follow and within 3 days my problem was almost completely gone!! I couldn't believe it but its been 3 months now and I don't even think about it anymore and it use to bother me every waking moment.I can't thank her enough and the only downside is that now she doesn't need to see me for a follow up until a year from now so I'll miss our conversations. I wish this place was already opened when I first visited my first doctor. Dr.Stacy was very nice and she really took into consideration everything that I'm concerned about plus more. It's been a while since I felt someone really cared and she took good care of me, unlike a lot of doctors who only cares about money. Wow. As someone who has been to every dermatologist in Boulder (not even joking, but I wish I was) Azeal was by far the best. I have had to get a mole removed in the past and have random small acne breakouts (TMI, sorry) and saw Dr. Stacey Pilkington for the first time on Friday. She was the first dermatologist I've seen that actually came up with an in-depth plan for my stubborn skin and in two days I've already seen improvement. I have unfortunately seen every dermatologist in Boulder at one point or another, and they always seem to throw the same treatments at me and insist I try them even though I know they don't work for my skin. In contrast, Dr. Pilkington was friendly and explained everything, and answered all of my questions. I could tell she had a good understanding of skin problems, and she listened to what I had tried in the past and what I use now and adjusted the plan accordingly. Everything given to me was covered by my insurance. They also use a pharmacy that ships perscriptions right to your door, which is an added bonus - One less errand on my list. The office was so comfortable and inviting, and the two receptionists were pleasant and friendly. Pricing for everything is very reasonable. Note: They do sell their own line of products, but to me they seemed very high quality. I didn't feel pressured to buy them at all, which is ironically the reason I ended up buying the spot treatment. If you're looking for a new dermatologist, look no further. I am your average outdoorsman. I like anything that comes in camo. I work in the field and sometimes live in my truck for 6 months a year. I'm lucky enough to earn a living hiking over 1000 miles a year. Biology is cool. When I finally noticed some thing on my face that wouldn't go away I ignored it. Dang thing kept coming back for over a year or longer. So I reluctantly decided to have it checked out. I haven't seen a doctor in 15 years. I came to Azeal out of chance while visiting family in Gunbarrel. I grew up here and It just so happened to be the closest place. The super classy waiting room didn't deter me when I walked in, a Tim Allen grunt may have slipped out under my breath but I can't remember. I prefer man cave decor but I knew my wife would love the classy touch if she were with me so I remained steadfast. The friendly staff greeted me right away and Dr. Hale got me in and out super fast. Even though I live out of state my new dermatologist for life is now Dr. Hale. She was very intelligent, witty and has a great sense of humor. Dr. Hale looked at my face and explained why the pre-cancerous area kept coming and going. I was praised for catching it early and she treated the area right then and there. Dr. Stacey Pilkington is the best dermatologist I've ever had. I had a bunch of sebaceous glands and was breaking out on a regular basis. Dr. Pilkington helped me develop a comprehensive treatment plan to clear up my skin fast. Prior to meeting with her, I was on Proactiv; it took some convincing, but she eventually converted me to prescription products, which, much to my chagrin, worked much better. Then, I was switched from VitaClear (Proactiv's vitamin/mineral supplement) to Skin Accumax, another game changer. Next, I was subjected to cautery on my sebaceous glands, which was initially very painful on my skin (to me it felt like I was getting stung by wasps), but a magical buzz device made it relatively painless. Finally, I did microneedling with Tegan Ryan to attenuate my acne scars. Throughout this entire process, I e-mailed Dr. Pilkington several questions -- she always responded the very same day. Tegan Ryan is the only aesthetician I've ever had, but she is without question the best. Microneedling was a little scary to me at first (just the sound of it made me cringe). Tegan put me at ease with her calm demeanor as well as lovely conversation -- I didn't feel any pain whatsoever even though she made me look like she'd just beaten me in an MMA fight. After three sessions of microneedling, several scars have not only diminished but practically disappeared! Upon completing the above comprehensive skin treatment plan over the course of just a few months, my skin looks much more youthful, I dare say like Dr. Pilkington's and Tegan's. In any event, I'm in my mid-thirties and am now happily getting carded again on a regular basis. :) Dr. Pilkington, Tegan, and the entire team -- Nicole, Matt, Courtney, Lindsay, etc. -- are truly exceptional. THEY called ME 24 hours before a new appointment came up asking me to move my appointment. I said MAYBE I would have to check in with work and my babysitter. I open up my mail and I have $50.00 no show fee- are you kidding me? YOU asked ME to move MY original appointment that I was able to make, and then you are charging me a late fee because someone else DID NOT show up? I have had 1 appt with Dr. Jamie Hale, and left with a very positive impression of her; the staff and of the clinic. Dr. Hale is obviously very intelligent & well spoken about dermatology, and she was very forthcoming, thoughtful & energetic about sharing her in-depth knowledge when we met, not only when it came to the reason on why I booked my appt but also about other topics that happened to come-up during my visit. I truly appreciate that trait in a DR. I left there much better informed than when I had arrived, with plenty of peace of mind of what was going-on with me; how to move forward, and an expected timeline for positive results. Also, the clinic participates in a pharmaceutical mail-in program. So Dr. Hale's office called in my prescription to that program, and my payment was an astonishing $0, and I received the product in the mail in just a day or two of the script being called-in. (My original plan was to just pick-up the product at CVS/Target, but even with my insurance, the charge for that script would have been an unpalatable $270. So being able to participate in this mail-in program was a huge cost savings for me, and the product arrived very quickly.) read more

The atmosphere is friendly,relaxing, and modern, with a spa-like but very professional feel. I have visited with Dr. Hale, who is very knowledgeable and professional with skin issues. Had a tough time believing the over the top reviews but Azeal Dermatology exceeded expectations. Wow!. Only gone to a dermatologist once, in the '90's, but I needed help for a very angry rash, getting worse by the day. Found Azeal on the internet, then, the day before the appointment, badly burned my hand. Dr. Pilkingham was the answer to my prayers, not only did she immediately identify my rash (eczema infected with impetigo), give me samples of medication to treat both conditions, as well as a price-off coupon for the one med I had to buy, she also gave me an ointment sample for my hand that healed a deep burn without a scar! I'm approaching 57 and had one "big concern" on my agenda for today's first visit to Azeal: an irritating growth on the back of my neck that hasn't gone away after several months. Posed many other questions to Dr. Hale about dark spots, moles, etc.... Dr. Hale was very patient and helpful in answering my questions. The removal of that "neck growth" that has been so irritating for too many months was a short and painless blip in today's appt. Wishing I'd have taken the time to schedule sooner!
