What a fun way to spend some time on a rainy day! This place was perfect for fun, a bit of exercise, and the opportunity to learn a new skill. My friends and I had almost private session: sessions consist of five people for about 45 minutes. At first I thought this was two little time but after going up the wall several times I learned that 45 minutes was plenty. We worked with the shop to provide us a quick lesson and the belayer. He was awesome and totally supportive for us first timers! We appreciated his chill approach and support. We had so much fun, we will definitely be back for more fun and experiences! read more

I've been a Boulderdash member for over six years, but I have to say I'm pretty dissatisfied with them lately. They reset walls very infrequently - today there were climbs up from early October! Three months of the same climbs is crazy, and on top of that their rope upkeep is lacking. There are so many climbs where the belayer has to physically force the rope through the belay device because it's gotten so fat over time, both when the climber goes up and when letting them down. The monthly member rate keeps going up, but I'm not seeing where that money's going because of the poor upkeep. It's unfortunate there's no other climbing gyms in the area. read more

I really liked the layout of this place and how the levels were easily identifiable in plain view. Only issue I had was the space, when we arrived there were few people. We got to take our time without feeling rushed. Then, more people arrived and it became a lot more difficult to free climb. Out of respect for others, we tried to make room for them and continue to another area. The staff were super friendly and they had cold beverages for sale. read more

I love Boulderdash TO. Ventura is my favorite location but TO has the extra tall walls! You can use a Grigri if you pass the belay test on ATC. Shane is a standout employee but everyone is cool I just forget their names. The bouldering is a bit cramped for my taste but I'm really not into bouldering anyway! The SVF location has the best boulder set up. There are no auto belays but people are cool and friendly if you need a partner. Thanks for putting in the water machine! read more

Been coming here for a year and a half, it's a nice place, with the membership or punch card you get access to all 3 locations. I personally like the shorter bouldering walls here because it feels safer, & top rope is nice here too. All the workers are very friendly. Friday night yoga with James is an underrated part of the membership and I think more people should attend! He alternates between more intense sessions and relaxing/chill, which is nice, he is a good instructor. It's a great way to end a long week. read more

I just had the coolest experience with Jake Trout at Boulderdash. He convinced me to join my 6 year old son as he rock climbed. Since having kids my anxiety has gotten so much worse and things that trigger fear in me can often lead to a panic attack. Jake casually said "why don't you get out there too mom"? I felt inclined to just go for it. As I started climbing panic set in pretty quickly. Didn't know Jake as I had just met him but he was able to get Me to trust him so incredibly quickly. He was so good at building me up. I felt so confident and so much stronger than I told myself I was because of Jake's affirmations. Before I knew it I was able to climb to the top while my family watched. It was not only an amazing experience but it pushed me out of my comfort zone, forced me to face my fear and was therapeutic for my anxiety!!!!! Incredible place! Everyone, from the employees to the members, has a super friendly vibe. It can be a bit busy during Mon/Wed/Fri afternoon, but that just means you'll make a few extra friends. Highly recommend getting a membership if you think you'll be going at least more than once a month. The belaying class is really fun too, Marshall was our instructor and he made it so simple! I had my son's 10th bday here and the staff was amazing! They had a fridge and private room for the celebrant. It was very stress free and low key, I ordered pizza from local D'Amore in TO, you get a 20% discount from pizza place if you order for your party at Boulderdash. The price was very reasonable for a group of 12 climbers, the guests had a blast, they cleaned up after us and I got a voucher for a future climb. This place is managed terribly, the staff is rude and frankly quite un professional. They hide behind "management wants this" but they really don't know what they are doing. My husband is an extremely experienced rock climber and they almost failed him with their stupid test as "he was not using their method". He was able to convince them that he knew what he was doing, but they told him that he had to use a certain technique to belay when they administer the test. That would be ok but I have seen one of the instructor taking a short cut while belaying other customers. Basically they want you to take their classes before they allow you to climb there, tricking you with a test. Really unprofessional and not a great place for experienced climbers. read more

My wife and I visited Boulderdash last week to take a belay certification class. Devin was our phenomenal teacher; she taught us a ton about climbing and safety, and we had an awesome time. Afterwards we climbed a couple of routes and practiced belaying each other while Devin supervised us and gave us helpful tips. We returned a few days later for our test and we both easily passed. I have a membership close to a year in the place and I was happy that's the reason I recommended many people family and friends to join and they happy as well. We all going to leave to another gym due to an incident happened on Saturday with one stuff member blond tall that approached me in a very aggressive way in front of my kids and friends. He wanted to correct my belay and it's ok but the tone of voice and the words he chooses to use were very bad. I served 7 years in the special forces climbing is in my DNA I was also a special forces instructor for years there is a way to approach and talk to people especially in front of kids. What happen left a scar my kids and friends still upset since it's not the way to talk to people. I did a lot in my life to know that this is very bad. Will find a new gym and will cancel our memberships all of us. I must say the rest of the stuff absolutely amazing it's only this individual that I will ask for his name and add to the post. As instructor. Father. Soldier I must say I am still upset and hurt. I hope this person will get fired will not stay in the environment of loud aggressive individuals. I can be corrected in a nice respectful way. There are many gyms and activities and no matter how good is the gym the damage that the behavior of this individual caused just took our desire to climb in this place again. no one want to experience this aggression especially not in front of kids. I can't say enough great things about Climb Time and Off the Deck with Carly. My son has been climbing off and on and the instructor really makes or breaks the sessions for him and he always loves his sessions with Carly. She provides valuable advice when he seems stuck and encouragement when he wants to try and figure it out himself. Every week he has been motivated to take on new challenges at Boulderdash. He has really fallen in love with climbing now. Her friendly and easygoing attitude is perfect for the new people that join the sessions and any nervousness that accompanies trying something new. First time checking out rock climbing thanks to my job for compensating the intro Up Rope class and me finally giving it a try :) I enrolled in the Thursday night class and there were only 3 of us students. Marshall was an awesome rock climbing instructor making it easy to understand the basic rules and techniques of belaying and climbing. We started in a empty classroom and then applied our knowledge on the climbing walls. Everyone is really easygoing and encouraging. Only good vibes here. I was nervous at first but had a lot of fun climbing. It was challenging because of the colored rock routes that you want to follow are kinda crazy and you don't want to look down while going up lol. The belaying part is actually a workout too because of the constant slack in the rope that you want to remove while the climber is climbing. I would definitely recommend coming here for an intro class or free climb time. I befriended my classmates and might consider getting a punch card membership (just because I don't think I can commit to a monthly membership and TO is a bit of a drive from Oxnard lol). P.S. I love the names of their rock climbing routes. I remember I climbed on the route called "Mushroom" and there's another route I saw called "2 Chainz" LOL. read more

Was visiting some friends out and on a whim decided to check out Boulderdash. It's a hidden climbing gym in TO! Even with the GPS on it was fun to find, from the road we were on we only saw signage for "Spirtual Center" but we had our hunch from how tall the building was from the outside. Make sure you go to Suite A, at first we found Suite B. Which is okay because walking across the courtyard we got to see the huge fountain. I'm diverging a bit here but if you must check it out, it's the size of a large swimming pool with a swan in it! Not going to lie, was slightly disappointed when I first saw the bouldering area. The bouldering area is condensed and doesn't go up very high. This is good if you're afraid of heights or falling, in a way it encourages climbers to do their top rope sections. The entire floors is spongy, but there are a couple crash pads to drag around to further cushion any falls. The routes were mixed, with many challenging routes though since all the walls have an incline to them. The way the routes are set up stresses the importance of technique and planning moves ahead of time. Since I only bouldered I can't comment on top rope routes. A kid's birthday party was having a blast on the routes though, their exuberance and natural skill really made me old. The instructors seemed really great, they had the kids stretching, doing push-ups and some core work outs before climbing. Really nice facility over all: Locker room to store your stuff so ins't all over the place Clean restrooms Sells drinks to rehydrate Large windows to provide natural lighting Free weights and medicine ball Gymnast rings Climbing rope They are opening up a second Boulderdash soon in Chatsworth, so next time I'm on this side of the valley hopefully I can check it out. Fun thing: Their slackline was hidden on the other side of the check-in counter... like two stories up in the air! Now that's exciting. read more
