Nice little theater in a Main Street setting. We saw Beginnings (Chicago tribute band) and Aztec Two-Step 2.0. Both were excellent. I'm sorry I couldn't get to see Stan Jordan - I knew him way back when. What can I say that hasn't been said? I have been there 2 times to see MIke Delguidice. I am a big fan. He always puts on a great show! Cjeck him out! It was almost sold out. The employees were very accommodating. I had an injured foot and had my cane. They escorted me to the elevator and rode with me to the upstairs room for the Meet & Greet after the show. And put me at the head of the line so that I would not have to wait too long. And escorted me back down. The Meet & Greet was well organized and went smoothly. There were t-shirts and CD's for sale of Mike's music. The concession people were very nice. They sell popcorn, candy and fancy cocktails. I had a chat with Mrs. Boulton herself! She came with her husband to see the show. She told me some background of the theater. No bad seat! I sat in the front row and the piano was placed in a good spot, not blocking the front row. Good sound, not blasting loud. 2 hour show. Confortable cushioned seats. The prices are reasonable. I took off one star because the elevator is sooo slow! To go one floor? lol! And I see that the ladies room is a disaster at the end of the show. And I see a few homeless people in the front of the theater asking for money. (I told Mrs. Boulton about these issues) The parking is decent. It's a block away in the back. You put some quarters in the machine to pay for parking. Or park a little farther for free parking. (But then you see a few homeless people wandering around) read more

I'm surprised more people haven't reviewed The Boulton Center... it's such a great little theater to catch a show! My family and I have really enjoyed going here over the years. They don't have the latest greatest acts, it's usually the people who were once popular - I hate to call them "has beens"! - and it's a great way to see a musician you enjoy in a very intimate setting. The theater is small, there are truly no bad seats. It's clean and comfortable, and great for a night out. We've seen Jill Sobule, Duncan Sheik, Glen Phillips (of Toad the Wet Sprocket), Aimee Mann, Aztec Two Step and quite a few more over the years! They often have meet-and-greets after their shows and you can get an autograph if you like that sort of thing. In addition, they have an awesome theater program for kids (my daughter was part of it years ago)... Their director, Tiana, is amazing! They always put on great show and the kids learn a ton! My daughter made some life-long friendships and learned life-long lessons in the program. There's a lot to like about The Boulton Center so be sure to check it out. With all the new restaurants in town, it's perfect for a night of good food and entertainment. read more

go for the established artists..skip manticore they were just meh- passable! v.i.p seats??? older relative told me the original lineup was alot better and alot more talented! the place is smaller and alot more intimate and there is not a bad seat in the house! jackie martling was awful..so was manticore. glad we did not pay for our tickets but got them as a gift. we will be coming back to see better bands. saw rael...wondrous stories and almost queen who were alot better. and look! no ego trips from that ceretain member of manticore! j. really needs to get over himself! when a talented band/artist performs move quickly because the best seats always sell out.p.s. manticore can shoot all the cannons they want..they are nothing compared to the former lineup with glenn dove...and the drummer shoots his ego which is worse than that cannon!..go when a good establisdhed band performs...who needs to waste money this day and age?? read more

The Boulton Center is a wonderful local theater. There is not a bad seat in the house and everyone who works there, that we dealt with, was smiling and kind. But.... We saw Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling and he was TERRIBLE!! He put on a movie in which he and others spoke about how he always wanted to do comedy. Then, the movie had stick figures telling stupid jokes. What a waste of time and money. However, we are happy that we got to experience the theater. We will definitely go back but obviously not to see Jackie Martling!!! read more

I saw Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde here recently and I have to say I was impressed with this cool little theater and scene they have going on here. It looks like this was an old movie theater that was converted into a performance space. The auditorium was comfortable, the acoustics seemed fine, but Johnette, who was (admittedly) drunk off her ass, didn't like the lighting guy trying to create a scene! lol After the show we walked up towards the back of the theater to find a cool lounge where the acts were selling cds, swag, etc. and there were restrooms up there as well. The neighborhood itself looks nice with a few restaurants nearby that I didn't get a chance to try, but be careful when coming here at night. We parked in the municipal lot around the corner and we were harassed a bit by a scruffy gentlemen asking if we could "help him out". Try to find parking on the street in front of the place. read more

Came here to see National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on the big screen, in conjunction with The Cortland bar next door to this great establishment.... So glad I did!! .....I now found a great new place close to home that has a great vibe, great beer selection (thanks Great South Bay Brewery), and a pretty awesome view of the stage/screen from wherever you are in the venue! (think small theater, with stadium seating!!) Great acts have graced this stage for years, and it's so intimate and cozy!! Concession prices are reasonable and everyone there was HAPPY!! Caught the Glen Philips concert last night at the Boulton Center at Bayshore. Fun night with husband and friends. Great show at a very nice venue. The movie theater style seating was very comfortable and acoustics were nice. This was the second show we caught of Glen here. We hope he comes back and we enjoy the live performances of his music very much! Glen played a great selection of his old and new songs. His guest artists Amber Rubarth and Jonathan Kingham were great as well. We even got to meet Glen Phillips after the show which was incredible. The venue was a nice intimate setting. read more

This venue was not very easy to get to from manhattan. Traffic on weekdays is horrendous so think twice before making the commute. Parking is not the easiest either. I was lucky to find a street space directly in front of the venue but if you have to park in a lot it's not as close. I was impressed by the layout of the venue. It's all seating like a movie theatre and each level is elevated so you don't have to worry about heads blocking you. My biggest issue with this venue was the employees. They need to get the stick out of their you know where. I was video taping a performance on my phone when the security started flashing a flash light into my face until I realized he wanted me to stop. I don't think he realizes that it's 2014 and people take videos of pretty much everything on their phone. It's harmless. Lastly the venue smelled disgusting. The odor was so high that it effected how I was enjoying the show. I'm not sure if it was the smell of the popcorn they sold but it was extremely offensive. read more

I haven't been to Bay Shore in years and was amazed to see the town revitalized and doing well. Restaurants, coffee houses and the Boulton Center make it well worth a trip. Boulton showcased a night of comedy on Friday. 3 comics each did about a half hour each. Good thing they didn't do more my stomach was killing me from laughing so hard. Small, comfortable theatre and a price of $15 for the show. They do one a month like this and other shows with singers and dance troupes. read more

This is by no measure the old IMAC caliber, but it is intimate and a very nice venue to see a show. They just need to step up the caliber of acts. More smooth jazz, as NY is starving for same after the demise of IMAC in Huntington & the demise of CD 101.9 read more

This is a FANTASTIC performing venue, and I wish we had one like it in Manhattan. Ticket prices are usually $30-$50 and there's not a bad seat in the house (which holds a total of maybe 300 people), and events often include a meet-and-greet. And if you're from NYC and going there, the Boulton Center is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the Bayshore station of the Long Island Railroad, which is about a one-hour ride from Penn Station. Attending a late show might leave you tight on time on a Saturday night, and an hour or two wait for a train, but the venue is great for music. I've seen Poco, John Hammond, and Chris Hillman there, and almost any performer can thrive on that stage and in this setting. A word of warning about attending movies there, though, which they show over the summer on weeknights. Five or six years back, for laughs, I went out there to see FORBIDDEN PLANET -- I seldom turn down a chance to see that movie in a theater -- and was royally disappointed. They used a white sheet suspended over the stage for a screen, and showed a panned-and-scanned DVD of the movie with a washed out image; and there were some un-supervised teens there making noise during the showing. Things may have gotten better in this department in the years since, but based on my experience the movies don't pay to see unless you're joining neighbors there. : read more

I really like the Boulton Center. Almost every seat is a good one. They serve wine and beer. They have some wonderful performers here. Tonight was a disaster, however. Italian Bred was like watching a bad eighth grade talent show. It was just awful and not worth a nickel of the $110 we spent on two tickets. She had very little talent, was not funny at all and believes that if you say it louder it will make the joke funny. We left. It will be a while before we take a chance on tickets there again. read more

I just saw The Flatlanders here the other night. A comfortable, small theater with very good sound. Also, their website lets you choose your own seats off the interactive seating chart, which I always prefer. Plus, the concessions were reasonably priced. We got a medium coke and medium popcorn for $5 total. And we had no trouble parking for free on the street just one block away. So, if you've got the choice of a so-so seat for an act in NYC or a better seat for the same act here, it's worth the extra drive (about an hour and fifteen minutes each way). read more

One of the local venues close to my home that I just love seeing shows at. Its all seats, with no bad seat, making it a very intimate place to see a show. I've been there over ten times and I've just love it every time. Great selection of wines and beers. Popcorn better then your IMAX theaters. Great service, and I love how they keep the audience from being on there phones distracting performers and fellow concert attendees. Also a meet and great for opening acts and sometimes for the headliner. The acoustics are simple breathtaking. Props for the sound engineer, simple the perfect blend of highs and lows. I'm always surprised the talent they bring in on a venue completely ran on charity contributions. Just simply the must lovely place in the Bayshore area. I highly recommend this venue. read more
