The drinks were good and cheap. My quesadilla burger was cooked to perfection. A quick dinner out with no wait is alright with me.

Look at the picture. Guess which Salad cost more than $15.00. This was my second and last time ordering to-go. First time went smooth. Price wise and taste. This time I felt fooled with the costly tiny Applebees salad. Quinoa is a highly costly product. My suggestion, never order any salad with Quinoa. You will pay a high prices and you will feel rip off.

Hi! and greetings to all my Yelp friends. Thursday nights are good for Thursday Night Football, local neighborhood bars, cold draft beers and best friends. Local Applebee's in East Islip has always been a neighborhood favorite meeting spot. And I mean there's not one time I pass this place driving on Sunrise Highway that this parking lot is not jammed. Tonight the bar was not packed at all, I guess our local Sports teams are no longer contenders and relevant. Gas keeps spiking up and the holidays draw near. I guess I will be number one customer again for a while. As most will be pulling in their belts and pinching pennies for the next couple months. Heck ! I'm still traveling on business and have to eat, so you'll be seeing me coming on through the door. I really enjoy the neighborhood connections that Applebee's has. Each local Applebee's bar becomes part of their hometown. Applebee's celebrates their local connections with pictures of the High School sports teams, Universities and cool Long Island sites to see. Each Applebee's is different. The towns and collages on the walls will be in tune with their location. I enjoy the pick 2 for $20 Specials Applebee's features, I usually upgrade for the small $3 and get the tender baby back ribs. The meal comes with two sides I recommend the mac and cheese and a stuffed baked potato. You also have a choice of getting 2 salads or a single large appetizer to share with your friend. Your choose. I generally always sit at the bar, even to eat. This has been constantly one of my Yelp tips. If you have the option sitting at the bar, this avoids the ridiculous long wait and service is always quick and with a smile. Your server is your barmaid who's right in front of you. I see the long wait for food and service being one of the main yelpers complaints in Many restaurant reviews. This is one of the reasons my visits and reviews usually rate a little higher than other folks. The reason why is I take control and make the occasion or venue fit my needs. If I sense my dining experience isn't going well, I speak up immediately with the manager. And right away I'll have a better day! Well the service and the food here was great for a sports bar. I was very pleased and will not hesitate to come to this Applebee's again. I guess that's why this place can be sometimes crowded. Folks know where to go. Where everybody knows your name. You got to go where everybody knows your name...I'm BIG JIM !

We have been wanting to come here for a long time and finally had the chance!…read moreFirst I would like to say that every single human that we came across, whether on the phone or in person, was extremely kind and had great customer service etiquette. I am a firm believer that this is just as important, if not more, than the food! First notable was Sydney, over the phone. We thought we were going to be late for our reservation and she assured me not to worry. They normally give a 15 minute grace period, but she knew we were celebrating a 50th birthday, an 85th birthday and Mother's Day (the week after). It was only four people but a big deal to us. Thankfully, we weren't late, traffic cleared up and we walked in exactly at our reservation time. It was a beautiful afternoon. 3pm on a Saturday and the small wrap around lot was packed. We got lucky as someone was pulling out, but people were parking in other surrounding lots and walking over. When we left, we also saw people parked on the street and in the huge shopping center across the street. Outdoor seating in front of the restaurant was full. There were palm trees and umbrellas. The numerous front doors to the restaurant were closed and it was frustrating because there were runners, wait staff and people trying to get to the hostess station and to the bar. Having my 85 year old mom navigate all this was tough. But once inside, our table was ready and waiting for us. The hostesses were handling the chaos of the people and the phone with a smile! We were given regular menus and a lobster roll and drink menu upon sitting down. Also, bread/dinner rolls. They were ok. There were 10 different kinds of hot and cold lobster rolls to choose from. It seemed that every table around us had at least one served to them. While we were looking and trying to decide what to order, Aurora came over to introduce herself and take drink orders. She was also super kind, accommodating and knowledgeable. She explained that she could adjust certain things, take things off the lobster rolls because they are made fresh and tended to the picky eater at the table. I live having a waitress that is patient and knows what she's doing! Two lemonades, one soda and a mocktail called Momma Said Mock You Out, came to the table. All good. Also ordered was a fried calamari appetizer. It was plentiful for the three of us that tried it. The marinara sauce was yummy. The calamari was fresh and had legs (my fave). But the overwhelming flavor of "fried" took away from the flavor of the calamari. It was crispy but it tasted like reused oil in the fryer maybe? Other than that, it would have been excellent. Not one piece remained. For our entrees, one chicken franchese over linguine, one order of seafood Spanish paella, one order of sliders with cheese (onion rings changed to fries) and one Connecticut lobster roll poached in light butter, no chives. The chicken franchise was not like you get in an Italian restaurant. It comes with cherry peppers and topped with mozzarella cheese. We held the peppers. The sauce was thick and rich, not light like we're used to. There was a lot of mozzarella cheese melted on top as well. Both of these things overwhelmed the dish. But not in a bad way. Just...different. the chicken was fresh and plentiful. The Paella. It came in a huge pot with a cover on it. It was HOT and HUGE. Lots of rice. Lots of flavor and it was eaten at home for 2 more days. The person who had it says it was good. Three sliders. Not good. They were overcooked. Buns bland. Burnt meat around the edges and had no flavor. Just covered up with American cheese. Ketchup saved what it could and two got eaten. The fries that came with them were "really, really good!" The Connecticut hot lobster roll. The star of the show. We got the one where we could taste the lobster. It came just as ordered, poached in just a little bit of butter with no chives. The bun was toasted and fresh. The lobster was a little chewy but plentiful. There were big chunks and lots of claw meat. No shredded pieces to cut corners. It came on a metal tray with a taco stand to keep the bread from getting wet. It also came with fries, coleslaw and a small pickle slice. It was fresh lobster and it was delicious. I'd definitely go here just for this. We were checked on often. Free drink refills. Extra napkins. No paper straws. We were going to do birthday celebrations but everyone was in a food coma. Side note- Ladies room was half inoperable and disgusting. Garbage on the floor. One of two stalls broken. Smelled of urine. Sink and floor wet (dangerous) and a line due to one operating stall. Please address this as it was not safe, can ruin an appetite and hold up the timing of everything else in the restaurant. All in all, I would like to go back and try more food. I only took off one star because the good outweighed the bad. My suggestion-open another location! Thanks for a memorable dinner with my special people!

Tried the Maryland one with lump crabmeat- next time i will just get the original New England or Connecticut- Calamari was nice and plump, my friend said bit plain, but i love it with marinara sauce. The waiter was nice but not accomodating. We asked to get alittle shade at our table and he said there's nothing they can do about it. My friend and I together moved the picnic table alittle closer to the umbrella. Asked him to give us separate checks- only two checks- he denied it saying he can't do anything about it because of the boss. Never had this happen to us at a restaurant esp a pricey one. Did not ask for 8 separate checks. Hopefully if we do decide to go back, we will get a more accomodating waiter. Otherwise, we liked our first time food experience there.

Perfect mix of savory with a nice spicy kick Paired it with a spicy watermelon margarita with tajín on the rim--super refreshing with that sweet-and-heat combo. Only downside... just two sliders I had to order an extra one, but honestly, no regrets--it was worth it. That was kind of the case a few weeks ago at Dark Horse Tavern in Bay Shore. I came here with some buddies for dinner on a Sunday night and things were totally fine. I mean like I said, I can't speak to anything being truly negative. Dark Horse had a relatively spacious and inviting interior with a little holiday flair. Our waitress was friendly enough and our food came at a good pace. And what I ordered wasn't too shabby...though I guess if there's anything to say about my three star feelings, it might be there. Now Dark Horse did have a decently-sized menu, but after visiting a brewery prior to this dinner trip, I was feeling something simple like a burger. Featuring a juicy Lucy sounded like a win as did the idea of Cajun fries. Those spuds were rather good, though the juicy part of said Lucy wasn't really that juicy. Despite having never been to Minnesota, I know this type of burger really needs some gooey cheese coming out of it and this one lacked that. The burger itself was good, but like an "easily-forgettable" good. The same could be said for their Dark Horse Lager beer. I've been to other Dark Horses on the island and have seen (and I believe had) this brew, but for whatever reason it just seemed very bland and basic. Perhaps after having some more elaborate beers prior my tastebuds were looking for something with more zing, but I can't say for sure. All I know is between this and the basic burger, I really didn't have anything great (or ultimately negative) to say. Overall, yeah I suppose some of that sounds negative and a three star review feels a little meh towards other prospective eaters and readers of this review, but that's me telling the truth here. If I were in Bay Shore and someone suggested Dark Horse for dinner I probably wouldn't say no because just about everything will be decent enough, but if you're specifically asking me for recommendations in the area, I'm probably going to mention a bunch of other places instead. Just sayin'.
