I got my nipples pierced here day after last Christmas. The facility is airy and clean, the lady at the desk is very nice and informative. The rooms are very sanitary and give lots of privacy which was a huge plus for me. As for the piercer: I've had horrible piercers in the past, thus I'm a bit skittish when finding a new piercer.Tiffany is amazing and I would follow her to the ends of the earth whenever I want another piercing. She is a piercing ninja. The first one I thought was just the clamp going on. The second went just as smooth. Tiffany is also honest. I went to get my nipples double pierced a couple weeks ago but she told me straight up it had a high chance of rejection so I went with her advice. Very disappointed with my experience here. The woman receptionist was rude and cold off the bat (apparently not a one off event as seen from other reviews) and the artist who gave me a tattoo ended up being very condescending. I went in for a relatively small tattoo (everything went fine in the first session) but I noticed over a few weeks that some lines healed oddly and a few areas faded much more than others. I requested a really quick touch up, and was told verbatim that I was "controlling and nitpicky" for wanting a few lines more bold and some areas darkened and was then passive aggressively told about how tattoos heal (I have 14 tattoos ranging from small to large and have never had to ask for a touch up previously). I'm not an idiot- I know that wrist tattoos can be fickle and ink can flake off, but I figured this wouldn't be a big deal and a quick once over would fix it indefinitely. Every other artist I have ever gone to has offered free touch ups if something happens in the healing process. I honestly couldn't believe I was spoken to like that. I felt it was a pretty reasonable request and it only took 10 minutes to touch up. It looks great now, but I could have done without being talked down to for absolutely no reason. Would never recommend this place based on the attitudes of the workers- I don't give a shit if they have good art. One last note- I was sitting next to a girl getting her very first tattoo in my first session, and another artist (her artist) was mocking the girl to her face because she was nervous. All I have to say is- get over yourselves. read more

My friends and I went in for ear piercings on a Saturday night and were so beyond impressed by every aspect of Bound by Design's service, from the really nice front room to the clean, comfortable piercing room to the amazing staff. Our piercer was Patrick, and he could not have been more professional, communicative, or thorough. He put us at ease throughout the entire process and did such a great job! The girl at the front desk (didn't catch her name!) who helped us pick our jewelry was also so, so nice and helpful, and made the whole process feel really easy. There was quite a wait for a Saturday night but we were able to leave and get dinner and get a call when it was close to our turn. There's also a great selection of jewelry at good prices. From start to finish, including signing paperwork and the artist drawing up the sketch, everything took a whole 30 minutes, and they got me in just about as soon as I walked in the door. Review of piercing experience! I'm impressed. The lady behind the counter was very helpful about finding me some new 1/2" plugs I'd like. I wanted the squishy (silicone?) type but they didn't have any that wowed me, so I looked in the case and found a pair of wood tunnels for $30! Yay! She even gave me tips on how to keep them from drying out and cracking, seeing as they're wood... made sure I was comfortable with tapered edges... and then helped me get acquainted with Scott, who did my industrial piercing. I've had lots of piercings before. Seven holes in my ears - three are now closed, four are now gauged. My tragus, and two matching piercings that women shouldn't mention... by name, anyway. So I like the pain, what can I say? I knew what to expect, it's just a double cartilage piercing, right? Scott made sure to show me what he was going to do in the mirror before he did it. Then, he let me know when to take a deep breath, when the needle was through, when he was corking the needle, etc. He guided me through everything he was doing, which was awesome. I couldn't see anything, but I felt like I could because he kept me in the loop so much! The place was so clean and sterile, I'd feel comfortable going back or sending other people there. I also like that they let you know to tip before they run your card. So many times when getting tattooed or pierced, I forget that I don't carry cash and therefore have to re-run the card for the amount of the tip. I didn't feel pressured to tip, they just politely reminded me that these guys mostly survive off tips, so it's just customary to do so. Overall: Friendly and helpful staff, professional procedures, and quality work! Now... if this heals up like it's supposed to (I know, I know, it's my job to take care of it!) then I'll be back to give them another star in 4-6 weeks!! read more

Bound by Design is by far the best tattoo & piercing shop in Denver. I've been getting tattooed by Ian Rumley since I was 19 (& I'm 25 now). I have no idea how many tattoos he's done on me, but for about the last year we've been working on my sleeve. We're almost finished and it's completely amazing! Its exactly what I wanted. Ian is an amazing artist, he's taken my ideas, thrown in some of his own & created some beautiful art. I've been so enamored with everything he's done. We are currently starting out on creating my other sleeve and I am so amped! I can't wait to see where it goes!! I have also gotten most of my piercings there, Tiffany is incredibly professional & great at what she does. Even though I've only ever been tattooed by Ian, I've spent enough time in there to see the other work that comes out and I can honestly say that every artist in there is incredible. I was treated with respect and enthusiasm by Ian Rumley (the artist), Blaire, and the rest of the staff throughout the whole process--none of the snobbery sometimes encountered as a first-timer in other shops. I have been going to Bound by Design for a few years now. I have had 100% of my piercings done there, and 98% of my tattoos done by the ever so talented Mr. Ian McKown. BBD is a great atmosphere. You can tell that Patrick takes great pride in his business. It is always spotless and a very easy place to just walk into and strike up a conversation. The work I have had done never goes unnoticed and I get questions and comments from random people constantly. Ian is not just a tattoo artist, he is the true essence of what an Artist should be. You won't find another portfolio as his, simply because his style is very unique, and every finished product is incredible. This is not just referring to his tattoo work, but his paintings as well, that have been on display at BBD multiple times. I truly admire the drive that all of the artists at BBD have, and wish other shops would follow suit. I'm new to Denver and have to rely on Yelp for a lot of my decisions. I was not going to get a piercing, I simply needed professional advice/help with a pretty minor infection in my cartilage from a previous piercer. I called one other piercing shop prior to this one and they were not helpful on the phone, they just said to go to my doctor. It's understandable to want to turn me away due to liability, but when I called here they were welcoming me to come in to have them take a look. Candace was a god-send. She numbed me and took care of me, while saving my piercing as well. She made sure I was as comfortable as possible throughout the process. At the end, she also did not charge me. Very nice! After reading some Yelp reviews about BBD's piercers I decided to give them a shot. I have had a few piercings, tongue, lip, and nose, but wanted to get my nipples pierced. I was pretty nervous, but luckily I got Tiffany as my piercer that night. She was extremely informative and really easy to deal with. This is base completely on how we were treated, not the artistic talent. I heard great things about this place, so went to go check them out with a specific tattoo in mind. I talked to the lady at the counter and she said to bring a picture in of what I was thinking. The next day I brought the picture in, and without giving it much of a glance, was scoffed at and told it couldn't be done and was turned away. My review is on the piercing and gauging side of Bound by Design. First off the place is clean and nice and the staff always nice and friendly - even to us non-tattoo'd folks. Now for the piercers - Tiffany is the BEST hands down. I'll only go to her for anything I need and I recommend her to everyone I know. I lived in LA for a few years and had a piercing done there and while it was OK it just wasn't the same experience and the price was outrageously high!! After that I swore to myself I would wait until I was back in CO to do any more. She did the gauging on my ears and though it's not the most painful process she made it quick and comfortable. She also did my nose piercing years ago, which I still love to this day! So if you are looking for a great piercer to poke some holes into you, gauge you, or implant you - Tiffany at Bound by Design is the way to go. read more

The piercer is always knowledgable, professional, and honest. Let me start out by saying that this review is based almost entirely on the customer service and "feel" of Bound by Design rather than their services since I had very little done there. However, I was so impressed with their professionalism and the way I was treated that I felt like I should share my experience. I went to Bound by Design with a friend who wanted her nose pierced while I needed one ear re-pierced. Neither one of us has tattoos or piercings beyond our ears, which I only mention because despite this fact we both felt very comfortable and treated with respect at Bound by Design. Although it would have been very easy for either one of us to feel out of place there, the friendly and professional staff ensured that we were totally comfortable. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to get starfish tattoos for a while now and finally decided to pull the trigger. Alissa K did my man's and it looks so great, bout the size of a hand, black and gray shading, not feminine at all. Melon did mine, orange fading to blue. It's beautiful, reminds me of Van Gogh's painting Starry Nights. He was also really gentle considering it was on my rib cage, a very tender spot. I recently got my first big tattoo from Travis, my first one is so small it hardly counts as a tattoo. The ladies at the front were very nice every time I went in there. Travis was absolutely amazing! Professional and his work is stunning. We set up my consultation over e-mail and talked to him a couple weeks later. A couple months later I went in for my tattoo. I was nervous about not liking the design we had talked about but he exceeded my expectations. I was stunned at how much I liked my design. He is truly an amazing artist.
