I attended a friend's private birthday dinner and was blown away by the intimate setting and ambiance at Boutique. There were 8 of us and we were able to byob (wine in our case) so it allowed us to converse and truly enjoy ourselves! The food was amazing and I truly appreciated the fact that Chef Matthew took the time out to make us feel at home. He explained every dish he prepared and served us. Chef Matthew set up an amazing space, with amazing food, and amazing service. I contacted him about a private dinner with my family for my wife's birthday. I expressed to him my desire to make a special evening for her, but taking into consideration that COVID is still an issue, and that we wanted to keep away from other people as much as possible. He provided me with a menu that had multiple options that all fell within the requirements I provided. It was extremely difficult to narrow down the choices because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded AMAZING! He listened to everything I said, and absolutely knocked it out of the park! Everything Chef Matthew made for us was so delicious... there were NO leftovers, at all. The space is absolutely beautiful. The dining area looked amazing. There's a comfortable lounge area at the rear of the loft where my family and I were able to relax prior to dinner being served. Just as a point of information, the space is so beautiful, that we were able to have a photographer come for a photoshoot with my family throughout the space. My boyfriend hired Chef Matt to surprise me with a Harry Potter-themed birthday dinner - they absolutely knocked it out of the park!! Or Quidditch court, really. Whichever. Chef Matt created a whole meal to suit the theme - and everything was gluten-free to meet my annoying dietary restrictions. Chef Matthew came to our house for a private dinner party that was a gift to my wife and I. He arrived on time to get the first course served as scheduled and everything moved on schedule. Food was great. Brussel sprout salad and risotto ball to start we're great and really display his complexity of flavors. Rrally good short rib that falls off the bone and solid halibut. Short rib was star of the show. Finished with great tiramasu desert. Chef Matthew is very genuine and his personality leaves you feeling g like you've known him for years. Chef Matthew is an incredible person & his food is delectable. I hired Matthew for a 5 course in-home chef experience for two and he did not disappoint. His communication before the dinner experience was terrific. I told him some of our favorites dishes, the vibe that I was going for, and we worked together to craft a wonderful menu (which he also printed with a custom message from me to the guest of honor). Chef Matthew arrived on time, and was quite pleasant. We were eating within 30 minutes of his arrival. I selected the following: arancini risotto ball (ah-mazing!), lamb lollipops (there are no words to describe how great this dish was), grilled skirt steak (there are no words to describe how great this dish was), Mediterranean lobster tail (incredible!), banana bourbon bread pudding (we were so full by this point, but this was an awesome finish). The presentation of each dish was beautiful and each dish was brimming with flavor. Chef Matthew's service was on point. He gave sufficient spacing between meals, and was willing to speed up/slow down based on our vibe. He also poured water and wine. At the end of the meal, he left our kitchen spotless (loaded the dishwasher, washed dishes, wiped appliances). We also had the opportunity to chat, and he was very interested in our feedback of our meal -- he cares about his craft a lot. We were also able to hear more about his business and the private dining space he operates -- which I can't wait to visit. Overall, the experience was top of the line. I expected good food -- but I wasn't expecting food and service that was out of this stratosphere. I wish I could afford to do it every night. Highly recommend. Chef Matt is responsive, professional, creative, energetic and driven. I believe I found him here on Yelp to be our personal chef for my husband's birthday dinner. We were visiting Brooklyn with friends and family including young children. Chef Matthew and his team catered our wedding in New York in November, and we can't say enough about how happy we were! We planned our wedding from out of town, and Chef Matthew was responsive and patient through the whole process. Immediately from the first tasting at his test kitchen, we could tell how much creativity and care he puts into his cuisine and presentation. I can only assume the 14 five star reviews preceding mine were written by relatives. Calling the experience "Amatuer Hour" insults amateurs. Where to begin: for $1,200 the six of us sat down to a five course meal with a wine pairing. That pairing was 3 bottles of mismatched wine of the $13.00 a bottle retail variety. We ran over to my house to grab some wine to finish the meal. The food ranged from serviceable to mediocre to lukewarm and tasteless. Chef Matt is a pleasant sort. We booked our dinner with Chef Matthew Ricketts over a month ago and he surpassed our every expectation. The experience started shortly after I contacted him. He explained how the private dinners work at his restaurant and then worked with us to customize OUR menu based on our dietary preferences, we are VERY finicky with our meals. We made a few changes during the process and Chef Matthew, did not hesitate to meet our needs. When we arrived at his restaurant, he greeted us with a friendly smile as if we were family or friends whom he had not seen in a number of years. Since my wife and I arranged an intimate dinner for two he sat us at the "Chef's" counter over-looking the kitchen. He was not only focused on creating our fresh and amazing meal but he engaged us with great conversation during the process, without missing a beat. The food excited our palettes from start to finish: A perfectly balanced New Orleans Seafood Gumbo w/ Sweet Tiger Prawns, Blue Crab and Chilean Sea Bass that was seared and seasoned perfectly. Immediately, I could tell he took his time with the roux and we watched him treat the delicate Sea Bass with the respect that the prized fish deserved. I had a Braised Beef Short Rib w/Honey roasted carrots (delicious) and Shishito peppers. No knife was required for the ribs as they were fork tender. I forgot to mention our Scallop appetizer was prepared perfectly and honestly was one of best if not the BEST preparations I've had. He uses all fresh ingredients and executed the dishes just as you'd expect a Le Cordon Blue graduate to executed them. I'm happy to have found Chef Ricketts. He's not only an excellent cook but his customer service is superb. I needed a celebration thrown together fast for Sunday night. On a whim, I contacted Chef Ricketts late Saturday night with the fleeting hope that I would hear from him Sunday morning at best. I can't say enough about Chef Matt. We have enoyed his cooking a number of times...both at my brother and sister-in-law's home where he cooks once a week as well at his restaurant in Brooklyn. I celebrated my 32nd birthday at Boutique Brooklyn on Sunday, February 24th. I chose Chef Matt's brunch menu to serve the guests that attended my "Glitz and Glamour" brunch. The three course menu included a rainbow mesclun salad, an organic fluff infused omelette and Belgian waffles (with fried chicken). We also had sides of fruit and bacon. Chef Matt was very attentive to me as a client. I wanted to bring in balloons, gems, my own custom disco soundtrack and cupcakes to spice up the already lovely interior and he was very accommodating!
