This was a recommendation from Captain Craig Inland Charters. Differently a local eatery! Don't let the small business stir you from going in and ordering. We ordered the fried Catfish, Seafood platter and the special of the day. I also tried the Gumbo. The catfish was cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned or battered. It was a perfect amount for me. Give it a try!

So I heard about this place a few years ago, watched a YouTube also, and talked with the peeps over the last year in anticipation of a visit & had a NOLA opportunity and was not going to miss a visit & I'm glad I went!! First, don't expect your typical perfect Cajun restaurant, this is in a part of lower Jefferson parish, Bayou country, which was hit hard by hurricane Ida and is still struggling to get back on his feet, the original structure was damaged beyond repair, and the current restaurant sits in a converted Coast Guard barge, with the restaurant on the first floor, and the second has a large lounge and rooms to rent. The dining space is small yet very warm and comforting in the kitchen is relatively simple, but Chef Brett takes over from there and produces succulent fried perfect shrimp, had the Cajun jambalaya, which was perfect, there are egg rolls, where are unique, and delicious. Most everything is fresh, but understand on some visits they may not have the complete menu available, that's OK I must say the 45 minute drive from New Orleans was well worth the visit, I also had the opportunity to meet the owner of the barge, captain, Nick, and if you have the opportunity to meet with him, talk to him, he is a gentleman with tremendous knowledge and insight, and, lastly, if you have the opportunity to talk to the locals do so at the restaurant, they can tell you about their stories, and the struggles that they've had since hurricane Ida

Freshest seafood we've had in a long time! Friendly staff and service! They are at a slightly different location on a barge just to the left of their old location that was damaged in the hurricane. If you come out don't turn around ... they have big signs that say now open.

Gumbo with lots of flavor and just a little spice.

Great restaurant with a small town feel. The service was warm and welcoming. We had a light lunch before going on our bayou airboat tour. I recommend the gumbo, it was delicious.

For all you urban dwellers out there, I highly recommend getting "out of the city" and taking a quick drive to Lafitte and do a little exploring. Once you work up a good appetite, head on over to Boutte's Bayou Restaurant and prepare yourself for some good eatin'. Even though we had been exploring for several hours, we had no initial intentions on eating, as we had a pot roast cooking on the crock pot at home. However, our little one needed to eat, so we "Yelped" restaurants in Lafitte and low and behold, Boutte's was the number one choice. Had it not been for Yelp, I may have driven right by without even seeing Boutte's, as it sits back off of the highway. Walking up to the door, the restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. When we walked through the front door, all the patrons' conversations stopped abruptly as they checked out who was walking through the door. I almost felt as if all eyes were upon us, but the pause only lasted for 2 seconds at most; just time enough for the locals to ascertain if we were locals or not. There is no doubt that everyone here was a local Lafitte resident, and I mean that in a good way, as you could tell that everyone was relaxed and having a good time while they ate. All friendly conversations were immediately resumed as we were greeted by our friendly hostess/waitress. Even though we had food waiting for us at home and we were really just getting food for our lil boy, we didn't pass on the opportunity to sample the fare. Our boy's chicken strips were fresh and hot and the smiley fries were a big hit with him (with me too). The wife and I split a 1/2 shrimp & 1/2 oyster poor boy and I can honestly say that this was some of the freshest and best tasting seafood I've had in a long time. I am a fan of well cooked oysters and these were pretty darn big to boot. Kudos to their spicy potato salad which had a hint of crab boil and cayenne, but not too overpowering. This is a as local & fresh as seafood gets, as the boats deliver the seafood fresh every day. I am definitely planning another Lafitte exploration day in the near future, and next time I'm bringing my A-game and plan on sampling a few more items on the menu.

I love Boutte's. Growing up in South Louisiana I spent a good deal of time in coastal communities. Driving to and from these places was half the fun as I was able to see the shrimp boats parked at the road side, the boat builders and the camps. Lafitte is one of those communities and you will enjoy the drive to Boutte's almost as much as you will he food. When I lived on the westbank I came to Boutte's every few months. I hadn't been back since Katrina so when I was asked to go back, I jumped at the chance. Boutte's is not fancy and caters primarily to locals. This means that you are likely to be one of the few people who doesn't know everyone in the place, but that is OK. Despite being obvious outsiders, the waitress treated us like family. The meal started with a pitcher or two of Miller High Life. The heavy glass pitchers were actually pulled directly from the freezer in the dining room and filled to the top. I highly recommend you start your meal this way. We ordered the fried crab claws as an appetizer. Their version was fried perfectly and much larger than other versions I have had. I was surprised at how much stuffing they were able to shove around the claw. For my entree I went with the shrimp special. It came with shrimp remoulade, shrimp salad, seafood gumbo, fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, and french fries. Here is how they rated: Shrimp remoulade - very good. There were at least 10-12 small boiled shrimp atop a bed of lettuce topped by remoulade sauce. I would have preferred it be slightly spicier, but it was very good. Shrimp salad - Just OK. I am not a big fan of ground up seafood whipped together and this version didn't change that opinion. Seafood gumbo - Excellent. This was one of the better seafood gumbos I have ever sampled. The roux was very rich and there was a good amount of shrimp and crab present. Next trip I will probably start my meal with a bowl of this gumbo. Fried shrimp - Perfect. Fried seafood was obviously their specialty and the shrimp were excellent. Stuffed shrimp - Very good. Their version was much larger than others I have tried just like the crab claws. While I really enjoyed them, I think I would have rather had more of the regular fried shrimp. I really like Boutte's and think it is worth the drive from most anywhere in the New Orleans Metro area. If you want to go and need a guest, let me know.

Dressed baked potato, red cream soda, and 1/2 muffuletta! Yummy!

Awesome service, great food! Love the local experience! This place was recommended to us by the guys up at Jean Lafitte swamp tours. Glad we stopped here! Left with full bellies and at a great price! I hope they faired well through Zetas wrath!

We were in the area for an airboat ride and had an hour to kill so we stopped in Boutte's for lunch. It's an older restaurant that seems very popular with the locals. They have everything from lots of types of seafood to meatloaf and other non-seafood items. We asked what's good and the server said "shrimp!" so we got a couple of shrimp po'boys. These po'boys could have easily been great had the bread been not so "rubbery" to chew. It was really good bread, the crust was just a little tough. The shrimp was amazing! The sizes were perfect for the po'boy and the flavor of the seasoning was outstanding. Red beans and rice were bland, needed to spike them up with Tabasco & Louisiana hot sauces as well as salt. This place is definitely more of a dive, but still a nice place to stop and enjoy fresh, local cuisine at a really fair price. Oh, restrooms were rather clean too.

Let me tell you something. We just finished a swamp tour in the Louisiana bayou -- gators, cypress…read moretrees, Spanish moss, the whole magnificent thing -- and we were hungry, a little wild-eyed, and in desperate need of a meal worthy of the morning we just had. Restaurant des Familles delivered in every single way. We ordered the crab cakes, the turtle soup, and the étouffée, and I am not being dramatic when I say all three were absolutely out of this world. The crab cakes were perfect -- crispy outside, sweet and fresh inside, no filler, no shortcuts. The turtle soup was rich and deeply seasoned in that only-in-Louisiana way that makes you close your eyes on the first spoonful. And the étouffée? Silky, buttery, loaded with flavor. Every single dish tasted like someone's grandmother made it with love and a lifetime of knowing exactly what she was doing. But beyond the food -- this place is just beautiful. Tucked right into the bayou, quiet and unhurried, with that warm Louisiana hospitality that makes you feel like a welcome guest rather than a table to turn. We walked in as road-tripping strangers and left feeling like we'd found one of the best kept secrets in the whole state. If you are anywhere near Barataria, whether you just came off a swamp tour or you made the drive specifically for this -- stop here. You will not regret a single bite. Restaurant des Familles is the real deal.

We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable.
