First time eating a seafood boil in the South. I must say, the portion of food was not what I expected. Let's just say that we ordered enough food that day, that we didn't even need to buy dinner. This location is about 15 minutes away from the touristy areas. It's surrounded by a ginormous beauty shop, a mochi donut shop (surprised to see it in Louisiana) and another Asian restaurant. When we first walked inside, I noticed that there was no host at the counter. So we waited and waited until someone acknowledged us. Let's just say that there was a lot of waiting during our visit. The prices were about the same as other seafood boil places in California. I ordered the combo 1 lb of shrimp head-on and 3lbs of crawfish, which automatically came with corn, sausage, and potatoes. I also ordered a half dozen of charbroiled oysters. As far as the charbroiled oysters go, it was ok. The night before we ate at Acme and the charbroiled oysters at Fiery Crab were nothing compared to Acme. My boyfriend ordered a chicken tender basket and calamari rings. One thing that I do want to mention is the sauce that came with the calamari and chicken tenders wasn't like any other sauce I've tasted. I don't know what they put in it, but it was good. I'm guessing it was ketchup and tartar sauce with a kick to it. I couldn't figure it out. My only complaints: Is the long waits and our server was nowhere to be found. Ordered take off from this restaurant. We were on a weekend trip and wanted to make sure we tried different foods from Louisiana and we ordered the frog legs, shrimp and seafood gumbo. The frog legs and shrimp was nicely breaded and crunchy but a bit on the saltier side. Gumbo had a good base but lacked flavor and could have used bigger pieces of each ingredient. Overall for a takeout order I would say 4 stars. Items were pricer for Louisiana and the quantity. Only pictured are the frog legs. They don't have prices on anything and then when I asked how much the boil was she got an attitude. She was so rude and the other girl behind the counter laughed . I didn't necessarily want to go to a sit down and eat restaurant either. I just wanted a seafood bag to go. We found this place in Harvey. It's in shopping plaza that looks like it has seen better days. It's sits in a corner. Plenty of parking. The inside looks like a typical Juicy Crab. I asked for the menu and ordered a crab boil bag. They had chairs inside for you to wait for your food. I know we waited at least 30 minutes. The front desk had maybe three hostesses who were pleasant enough especially at the end of the night. I will say as a native New Orleans resident, it's not bad. However we have way too much local seafood here that is boiled in seasoned seafood boil to be okay with half imported seafood that is cooked without seasoning and just smothered in sauces. It's not a franchise for New Orleans. Other places, I get it and it will do. The sauce carries it completely and beyond BBQ shrimp, it's odd to have sauce in Blue Crabs with bitter meat inside because it wasn't seasoned in the cooking process. No claw crackers either for hard seafood shells because people steal. I'd say, if you love sauce more than seafood, go for it. Otherwise if you live in New Orleans, get you some good seasoned seafood and make your sauce on the side. read more

The hush puppies were yummy wish they were slightly bigger but you get 10 per order so can't complain...I'm just greedy. It was a recommendation from one of the locals when we visited NOLA, and we weren't disappointed. The charbroiled oysters were good, and so were the seafood boiled bags that we are with aplomb. The boiled seafood is good. But don't get the shrimp poboy. If you're like me and use to a over flowing shrimp poboy this is not the place. If you want a boil but don't want the mess to clean up after, Fiery Crab is the place to go. There are a few Fiery in the Jefferson Paris area and it seems like a local chain. This one is located inside the plaza on the corner of Lapalco & Manhattan and I'd say it's one of the better ones I've experienced. There is plenty of parking and the staff here is very friendly. My parents wanted to meet up for lunch here, so it was pretty much empty when we arrived. They have weekly specials between Mon-Thurs. There is a bit of something for everyone from fried frog legs and fried oysters to po-boys to raw oysters, to all the seafood you can think of! My family and I always order the House Platter which is about a little over $100 but it can be feed 3-4 people. It consists of sausage, potatoes, corn, a lobster tail, snow crab legs, crawfish, dungeon crab clusters, and eggs. They also sell seafood by the pound and you get to choose your seasoning of choice, as well as the spice level. I love to get mine as Fiery Special for the seasoning and a spicy level of hot. Just picked up my order of a shrimp poboy and sweet potato fries. This is my favorite even though everyone loves the boiled items with the sauces. There shrimp poboy's are the best. The shrimps are a great size , very crispy, great flavor. And I sauce is added over the shrimps when places on the bun. Not sure what the sauce is but it's good. The amount of shrimps on the sandwich is enough to add to make another mini sandwich or save to add to a salad. The service is always great never a problem. I so can't wait for them to open up here on the Westbank. I was totally blown away when I saw them tucked away in the corner of the Manhattan and Lapalco intersection plaza.
