Herbie is ready for his next Bow Wow adoption event

With no facility and 100% staffed by volunteers who pull animals from high kill shelters, work with vets to resolve all kinds of medical conditions, foster animals, work through many adoption processes each month, plan and manage adoption events and pursue monetary and pet supply donations, this is the kind of rescue you want to donate to and adopt from. 100% of all funds, donations and resources go to directly to the care of the animals. I found a sick dog through a group of CACC volunteers. He was on the urgent list and needed rescue from CACC. He just broke my heart. I offered to foster through the Facebook feed, but no takers. One of the volunteers suggested I reach out to the shelters that are able to pull from CACC. I sent 20 emails with photos asking for support. Only Bow Wow responded and I became a foster home for them. This is not a big organization. It's a small group of very dedicated folks who truly love animals. A+ dedication. I am proud to be a foster home for Bow Wow Revolution. To those who post anything negative about a dedicated group of volunteers SHAME ON YOU. We are very fortunate in Chicago to have MANY no kill shelter groups who are dedicated to making Chicago a no-kill city. All rescues screen to make sure animals to go loving homes, this takes time. If you need help with a rescue, reach out to many organizations as I did.

Before reading this review, I want to preface that I would recommend Wright Way Rescue to…read moreexperienced pet owners who know what questions to ask regarding a dog's health, history, and overall care. I would not recommend this facility for first-time pet owners because the adoption process is extremely rushed and can be overwhelming, making it easy to miss important information. As a long time pet owner, my overall experience was decent, but there were several things that raised concerns. The biggest issue was communication. I called, emailed, left voicemails, and even texted the number provided to me with little to no response. It took visiting in person to get my questions answered. To their credit, the facility was extremely busy, and the first employee who helped me was wonderful and ultimately why I chose to adopt through them. One major tip: complete your application online, not on paper. My paper application was never followed up on, and the dog I originally wanted was gone before I heard back. My online application, however, was approved the same day. The day we visited to meet our dog was chaotic. The facility was crowded, loud, and overstimulating for both people and dogs. The check-in process was disorganized, and we waited over 20 minutes just to be told how to join the visitation queue. However, I understand that shelters can be stressful environments, and I appreciated that they required hand washing before interacting with dogs and sanitized the meeting spaces between families. When we met our dog, they appeared healthy, and we were given unlimited time to interact with them. The volunteer assisting us was kind but clearly overwhelmed, and some information she provided did not align with the dog's online profile. The most concerning part came during the adoption paperwork. The volunteer reviewing the dog's file moved very quickly, and I believe a first time owner could easily miss critical details. We were informed at that moment that our dog was currently on medication due to nasal discharge, something that had not been disclosed online or before agreeing to adopt. Given that we had a senior pet at home, this was information I would have appreciated knowing beforehand. I also learned the dog had undergone surgery only days before adoption and had been recovering while housed with several other dogs. Another issue was the pet insurance discussion. I fully support pet insurance, but it was not clearly explained that we were being handed off to a third party representative trying to sell a policy. A first time owner may have felt pressured into signing up immediately without comparing other options. Additionally, some fees lacked transparency. For example, paperwork stated that the dog needed to leave with identification tags, but it was not made clear beforehand that there would be an additional charge for the tag. Despite these concerns, we ultimately adopted our dog and absolutely love them. We have thankfully not experienced serious issues that some other reviewers have mentioned. There are positives worth recognizing: this is a volunteer based rescue, I saw evidence that dogs are walked regularly and not left in kennels all day, their hygiene protocols before handling animals are good, and many of the staff members genuinely care. Overall, my two star rating comes down to poor communication, lack of transparency around health concerns and additional costs, and an adoption process that moves too quickly for someone who may not know what questions to ask. I have empathy for the volunteers and understand they are managing a very busy facility, but better communication and clearer disclosures would significantly improve the experience for future adopters.

I had 2 friends that had adopted their cats through Precious Pets, so I decided to look into them and I'm so happy I did! I love that they're a foster-based rescue. The application process was lengthy but integral to finding the best fit for our family. I appreciated that they took the time to "vet" us and figure out what would work best for our family. It showed me that they truly care about where their animals go and want the absolute best outcome for them. We were looking for a cat to join our 2 cat, 1 toddler (at the time) home. We went to visit a litter of kittens that were about ready to be adopted out at their foster home. We initially were interested in one of the boys, but one of the girls ended up stealing our hearts at the meet & greet. The foster was able to tell us more about their personalities since she helped raise them, and I really appreciated her insight because it helped us pick the best cat for our family. We needed a gentle and patient cat for our growing family. Sesame came home with us a few weeks later and we just love her so much! She has grown up to be one of the most calm and gentlest cats I've ever met - sweet and curious and sometimes mischievous too. She loves her people & two older cat brothers - we couldn't imagine our lives without her now! I truly believe that Precious Pets giving Sesame a safe and healthy foster home to grow up in helped shape her into the wonderful cat she has become.

***If you're looking to rescue from here BEWARE***…read more I adopted a puppy from this organization in 2019. Unfortunately after years of trying to correct behavioral and paying hundreds of dollars trying to correct this nothing worked. I reached out to Marsha Perry in 2020 to inform her of the problems and she simply told me to look into training (which we already had spend hundred on). In March of 2024 I reached out to her again to tell her I had tried everything and couldn't keep the dog anymore. Marsha said "ROAR has not been doing dogs for many years and has transitioned to mostly cats". She also said "can't he be kept in a cage or in a separate area of the house?" She became extremely vile, unresponsive at times and simply refused to help. At the time do adoption we were told they would take the dog back NO QUESTIONS ASKED, should "life happen" and we could keep him anymore. Clearly not the case. I continued to reach out to other rescues in the area and unfortunately a few months later my husband lost his job, we had to move in with family and their senior dog gets severe anxiety around other dogs. So keeping our behavioral complex dog was not an option. I reached out to a shelter in desperation and explained to them everything that Marsha had said to me. I even showed them emails and they were APPALLED! They were happy to take him in and take care of him. A few days later Marsha emails me with a very nasty tone "I can't believe you thought this was a better option for him." Ummm...you left me no choice! Please stay away from this organization. Not only will they NOT honor signed contracts, the owner Marsha will harass you, belittle you and be flat out be nasty to you. I have reported this organization. These people shouldn't be allowed to continue to foster animals. I can only imagine how they treat those poor animals.

She truly cares for the cats wellbeing and future, and will not allow them to be improperly placed into a home that does not suit them. She does not do cats as gifts to someone that is not applying for themselves. She does not do kittens as only pets. She tries not to split up bonded pairs. She does not do impulse adoptions on the same day. The process typically takes a couple days to ensure everyone in the household is ready to take on a potentially 20+ year commitment, to ensure the house is prepared for cats, and ensure the cat's paperwork for adoption is all in place. I also see others complain about the adoption fees, yet they go straight to the vet costs associated with each cat, which nowadays are always more expensive than the adoption fee itself. Sarah *does not* do this for the money, *she actually loses money* She is only in this to rescue great cats from this area that are typically on euthanasia row, or have come from awful situations. The last thing she wants to see is these cats to end up back in a bad situation like they originally came from by adopting to irresponsible people. That is why there is a application/interview process. I do recommend this rescue if you want to work with a true cat person that only cares about a cats best interests.
