Do not recommend or hire this service/business!…read more For two weeks 4 different at home care takers took care of my father 24/7. 1 of 4 care takers (they are obviously not nurses) was great, her name was Alexis. She did everything that was asked. No complaints. The other 3 could not have been any more wrong in every way and I wish we could have swapped them out for new help but after taking to the manager twice she decided to keep the same team. They rationed my dad's food feeding him barely anything after asking us to buy groceries that they would cook and didn't. They let him stay up watching tv till 11:30pm when we had a hard cut off at 9:15pm. They adjusted his bed on their own which was not allowed since the PT set it to where my dad would be most comfortable. Besides Alexis laundry was done with their own clothes and when asked to wash new comforter it sat in the bag for two weeks. Never vacuumed or cleaned unless Alexis did it. I'm completely shocked by the in experience and care Home Instead provided for my dad. And I communicated 2 times with the manager expressing my concerns.

I briefly met her when I came home for my hour lunch to check up on my Grandma ( she's digressing with memory loss) and I think as soon as she met me and learned a younger girl lived with her grandma at the house, that it was an opportunity for her to snoop around the house once I left to go back to work. she barely did anything to help my grandma with cleaning or assistance. Instead she went snooping into rooms upstairs where she WASNT Supposed to be. She stole 3 pairs of my high end leggings and 3 pairs of my jeans along with 4 pairs of cami tank tops that were tucked away safely in a drawer. Mind you she's not our regular care giver for my grandma . She was just here for a day becasue our regular caregiver was out sick. The Executive Director and Director of Health Services and their staff were fully aware of the on going problems which never was resolved. I hope this is a warning for families that are thinking of putting their loved ones in Clarendale of Algonquin. We finally had enough of their in adequate facility and moved my mom out.

BEWARE!!! As long as "assisted living" is minimal time involved they are more than happy to take…read more$$$$ - as soon as you need 3 extra minutes (no exaggeration) they say they can no longer "care" for you. Director even told me assisted living isn't what they can do for you but how much staff time it takes. Then they unceremoniously tell you to leave. While you find somewhere, they are happy to raise your rate while cutting your service. Horrible management! Example: they claimed loved one was a 2 person + assist and aides were instructed to leave her in her room for all meals - in her lift recliner (where they also left her to sleep and go to the bathroom!) IT'S A LIFT RECLINER!!! I came in BY MYSELF and transferred her to her wheelchair (giving her time to get her feet under her and turn) to go to the dining room. I filmed it and the entire transfer BY MYSELF took 3 minutes and 30 seconds! this is what they claimed 2 or more of their staff couldn't do!!! PS - loved one is doing everything at the new facility that Clarendale said she couldn't do simply because they couldn't be bothered to give her literally a few extra minutes. They won't tell you this up front and have no qualms totally upending an elderly persons life for their convenience. Additionally, they screwed up submitting 2 months of insurance claims and after basically kicking her out, have not responded to requests for a refund on the entire months rent and care that was paid - we are out about $24,000 until everything can be resolved.

My mom lives in the Northwest Suburbs and we finally decided that she could no longer "do it…read morealone". We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

Right At Home was entirely unlike this. A Josh Steiner came to our house to evaluate our home and get an overall idea on what services we required and which employees would best fit. Following this a gentleman named Zach Steiner came by with an employee to introduce and get started with us. As far as communication about employees and poss schedule change i have mostly dealt with Stephanie in the office who has always had a pleasant attitude and speaks very professionally on matters at hand. Some employees we have had for a weekly schedule but when needed they sent a fill in that was polite and able to meet our needs fittingly. All the employees helped us in all ways even when we have to leave the site for shopping or go on an appointment.
