As I recall, the sales rep was cautiously watching my reaction, when he scanned and stole my information. Sportsman policy is to never asked for the customer's info, just steal it. I thought scanning my info was another violation of my constitutional rights by the state. But the state does not require copied or reported data, just a visually confirmation of the buyer's age. I've been to a lot of places around the globe. More than most people my age could ever hope for, but this place is new to me. In my one visit to this store I rode a Ferris wheel, played bowling, and browsed the largest arsenal of firearms I've ever seen. That alone made my day, but I'm not done yet. This place has more bikes and skateboards than Alpine Ski Shop. Their camping section is larger than Dick's and Cabela's combined. The clothing department is chock full of everything that one would want to pull over their skin. I haven't even mentioned that their prices are average to cheap! Heck, even the employees are kind and helpful!There's literally nothing I can complain about, because I've never experienced anything that compares to Scheels. I literally cried when I walked into this place, because it fulfilled everything my hopes and dreams could possibly muster. I love being critical to mega corporations, and I thought they might have a fascist CEO or something, but that's where it really gets crazy. Scheels is 100% employee owned, meaning DEMOCRACY BABY!!! Malcomb did an amazing job of navigating around 3 anglers with varying skill levels. By the end of the half-day trip, we all had vastly improved our casting, drifts, and hook sets. The following day, today, I went back on my own to test the new knowledge. Sure enough, I hooked into several fish. Seeing a circular ad for shoes on sale, I wanted to buy a pair of hiking boots. Not seeing my size in the style I wanted, Kent came up to me just ask I was about to ask for help. I told him I couldn't find my size in the particular style I wanted and asked him if he knew if that brand was good. I had no idea I asked my question to the right person! As it turns out, hiking is a passion of Kent. He provided me with so much information about the soles of shoes, stitching, material, and protecting the material of the shoes. When I told him I was looking for a shoe that was a little more like a boot since I had a fear of snakes, Kent also had knowledge of that! When I finally settled on a choice of shoe based on Kent's recommendation, he also told me what to look for as I walked, explaining how much weight/pressure I put on what part of my foot as I walked. Kent wasn't a high-pressure sales person, but truly wanted to make sure I got a shoe I liked and would work for me. In fact, I walked out with two pairs of shoes! It's so difficult to find great customer service these days, let alone someone who genuinely enjoys his job and giving tailored advice. However, after this last interaction, I will not be returning. I bought a pair of baseball pants for my son and they did not fit. I brought them back within the allotted time frame and was told they would not take the pants back because the receipt showed "unhemmed pants" but according to the worker, "these are clearly hemmed". The UPC code was the same for the pants on the receipt and on the tag on the pants. The worker (perhaps the owner) accused them of being "game worn". I told him that they did not fit my son, so he could not have worn them to a game. Also, I am not sure that I have seen white pants that are still stark white look stark white after a game. I showed him the tag on the pants showing they came from All American Sports. He still refused to exchange them. It really is a shame when the smaller companies do not support their customers, and customers are forced to go elsewhere. Very dissappointed and will share this experience with other parents within the league.
