We also tried the immunity shots from CJ's Juicery and they were dynamite. If we still lived here full time I'd be making the drive over from STL once a week for that breakfast salad and matcha. The menu is varied and thoughtful, altho I would love to see them find a way to offer at least one gluten free bread (I bet their avocado toast rocks!). My personal favorite biscuit sandwich is the Sausage. In addition to the sausage patty, it has cream cheese and pepper jam. The pepper jam is what really makes this sammie special. If you're wanting a more hearty breakfast, you can create your own plate with items from the A La Carte menu. I've created one with two scrambled eggs, bacon and breakfast potatoes. The potatoes are cut into little cubes and fried to a crispy golden color. It's a great place to meet friends for a cup of coffee. The staff is cordial and makes you feel welcomed. Once the vows were exchanged, it was time for dinner and more cocktails. The buffet was set-up in the smaller room that you first enter from the outside. The staff and caterer (you select your own caterer) had the table organized well allowing for an easy traffic flow of those coming and those returning to their seats with full plates. This bride & groom selected Johnson's Corner to cater their wedding and they did an impressive job. Once all the guest had completed their meal, it was time to party. There is a great deal of room upstairs for the bridal party, and the same with the room for the grooms party to get ready, with a separate room for them to hang out once they're finished. The only con I saw was the floor being a bit wonky in a few places (not in the natural walkways, thank goodness). It can catch you a bit off guard when you are skirting the dance floor when in heels. Not a huge issue, but it's something to scope out before the event so you can warn your unsteadier elderly guests away from those few areas to avoid mishaps. This is in to way a criticism of the venue, it's in a much older building and that just sort of the way things are in older places. :)

There is also a balcony with tables chairs and grill. If you get the penthouse on the third floor you won't be disappointed! Huge full kitchen with amenities like the second floor Kitchen. Huge living area with comfy couches and large dining table. 2 bed rooms can sleep 4. The huge balcony with tables and chairs provides an amazing view of the Clark bridge and Mississippi River. This place is within walking distance of many great Alton eateries and shops. Also only a 16 minute drive to Grafton or Edwardsville for for entertainment. One drawback is the parking. No dedicated lot so it's only street parking. There are dedicated spaces out front and side parking is available too. Owner still charged me for one night. Nothing close to what you see online. Staircase is super steep, doors do not have secure locks and windows in old doors. Shag carpet and furniture at least 30 years old. Creepy. Disappointed as he knew I was traveling in from California, arriving after dark. I told him I was visiting my handicapped daughter who stairs would not be safe for. Mike told me it was beautiful loft called the love Joy. Nothing beautiful here.

Our menu was 2 kinds of ribs, baked beans, slaw, vegetables, and bread that was served in a buffet line for 100 people hot, tasty, properly cooked and delicious. I did not want to embarass myself by taking seconds but the food was good enough to take thirds. Our event planning classmate ended up taking a HUGH amount of leftovers which went to several church luncheons the next dahy. The wait staff was incredibly helpful but inobtrusive. Our reunion was great for all who attended and we never felt intruded by center staff. A GREAT PLACE FOR A REUNION

Regardless of the price of the event, I would hope that the Julia's staff would insist that whatever they serve was delicious and of good quality. The staff is nice, but not amazing. The lunch at Panera that is half sandwich/half soup and comes with an apple (fresh fruit) is about 7-8$ and presents and tastes significantly better. I would only use this venue again if I was merely renting the space. Outside catering would be a must! Definitely will not recommend, sadly.

Nobody does a better Fish Fry during Lent, than your local Knights of Columbus…read more My gang of cousins and I hit this KOC up for their fish fry this past Friday and they did not disappoint. All of us are retired, so we went early, right when they opened and it was already a 1/3 full. That there, told us this was going to be a good one. Once we ordered and were going through the line, we found out it was all you could eat. They gave us so much food, I don't know how anyone could go back for more. I saw how they were scooping the food out, so I was telling each server, to go easy on mine. One good thing about attending a Catholic organization fish fry, you know there will be beer available. All the volunteers serving were pleasant and some were downright humorous. The tables were kept clean and bussed by many high school students doing their required service hours. The facility is super nice and an excellent size for hosting receptions or large parties. Just like supporting local businesses, it is good to support your local community organizations, too.
