One in which she received 2nd place-Overall Gymnastics among her team as well as the other competing teams. Following, this meet her Level 1 Junior Olympics team coach Maggie thought it was appropriate to write Laila a congratulatory notes calling her Miss Bojangles!!(Please see the note attached). To say we were appauled, outraged, and shocked would be an understatement. What hurts the most is that in speaking to Laila and educating our 8 year old on the history of Bojangles, racism, and many other topics Laila expressed feelings of hurt, and extreme sadness. How do you explain to a child at 8, that everyone that says they like you and are a proud of you unfortunately aren't. Thankfully, I am a Mental Health Counselor and know how to treat Trauma. On Tuesday, March 15th I promptly emailed @All American Gymnastics and Super Ninja St.Louis owner Susan (Sue Renshaw) and below is her response. As you read it it says nicknames are given for team building purposes. Also, noted if Laila was hurt we apologize. No sincerity, nor accountability. It is absolutely apparent that Sue's lawyer wrote this document for her. Sue references how she was so looking forward to Laila continuing with them. I can name 3 reasons she was. 1. Laila always brings home individual scores of 35 or higher, 2. She is an awesome gymnast, and 3. We pay our financial obligations and show up and show out everytime. Sue's self/business accountability looked like releasing us from the remaining 2 months of financial obligations and not allowing Coach Maggie Coffey the opportunity to explain her choice of nickname. Also, Maggie has never referred to Laila as this name in front of myself or any other family members. And yet here we are…read more The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is basically designed to make you interact with things you normally would have absolutely no business touching. You can touch jellyfish, stingrays and other marine life, and yes, I participated. The best thing at the aquarium are the otters. They are absolute characters. The aquarium even has Tommy the Talking Otter, plus regular river otter feeds and chats. I will say, though, those otters appear to be living their absolute best lives. They may need to speak with their nutritionist. But we like chubby things. Especially when they're adorable. The aquarium is housed inside the historic St. Louis Union Station, which was once one of the country's major passenger rail terminals. Today, the aquarium has thousands of aquatic animals and a very hands on approach. And the Yelp beer tasting event we attended there was seamless. Great setting and great execution. My favorite part was probably the interactive aspect. You aren't just walking around looking at tanks. You're getting your hands wet. This is the opposite of a look don't touch situation.

You can touch jelly fish, snails, sea stars, a turtle. For $5, you can get 3 pieces of fish to feed the stingrays which was so cool. We loved watching the otters. It's a 2 level exhibit where you can watch them underwater and see them in their above water habitat. We were lucky enough to be there at the time of a training session. They were darling! The place was a lot smaller with fewer exhibits than I expected. It's 2 levels with a prescribed path to follow, which I appreciated. The staff were so knowledgeable and very friendly. It was very clean. This would be a great place to spend an hour or so, especially on a hot summer day. For the price of the tickets, it's probably not a place you need to visit more than once, however, I do recommend you visit if you haven't been there.

The food never stopped coming, trays of toasted ravioli and chicken tenders and pizza arriving again and again, and even with ten minutes left in the unlimited window the kitchen was still sending things out, which made the whole setup feel generous rather than timed or stingy. As for the bowling, it worked well enough for a place that has probably been running nonstop for years. Even though I haven't bowled in twenty years I still managed a respectable 125, which felt like a small personal victory. The machinery had the occasional hiccup, nothing dramatic, just the usual quirks you expect in an older alley, like the lane next to us needing to edit their scores a couple of times or a ball getting stuck in the back or a pin landing in the gutter that someone had to kick down manually, all of it adding to the lived‑in charm rather than taking away from the night. The pizza i got after they made something I hadn't ordered and corrected it, was pretty good, though the bacon was not cooked in the center, (luckily I noticed before i got sick from it)....So I had a decent opinion of the place. Many decades of coming to many places in the Loop have always been fun, with my kids, and my mom..A lot of the business owners are dear friends for years.. contemporaries. we've fought for a great cohesive community and nurtured it. This woman had gone from being nice and assuring me I was good, to a Jeckel & Hyde thing out of nowhere, contradicting what she'd just said. Threatened me, menaced me. There was no catalyst. We were far away. I understand that people get tired, have bad days, but this was bizarre and highly inappropriate.
