No doctor or nurse practitioner bothered to evaluate the patient when she was complaining of extreme pain before making medication decisions, and ignored recommendations from hospice nurse. Arrogant LPN who asked patient to state her pain level from 1-10, and when patient replied 9, the LPN said "you don't look like you're a 9." Definitely a "we know best" philosophy that does not prioritze the patient. When patient was being cleaned by nurses, family was subjected to listening to patient screaming "I hope you are killing me because I can't take any more of this." Horrific experience. We moved her to the nursing facility at the Kenwood Senior Star where she had wonderful, patient centric and empathetic care. What a mistake to subject our mother to MPL.

My dad did a 3 month respite stay in assisted living…read more I once asked a resident what they thought of the food, and this wealthy looking Indian hill looking woman stuck her finger in her open mouth to imply gagging - saying it was so gross. do not work here or send your loved ones here. i am a worker here and the workers are snobby and…read morerude, and they are outrageously rude to the residents here. the workers put on a show for people who come visit their loved ones, all the nice, and happy, and smiles you see is all fake! today October 23, 2025 a nurse here was telling other nurses that a resident here was not liking the idea of him have a catheter, so he got upset and was saying he didn't want it on himself, and he was moving around, and the nurse told the other nurses she snatched him by his feet and yanked him to the edge of the bed and yelled at him in his face "you're going to keep this f**king catheter on rather you like it or not" she was demonstrating how she was pulling him as if she was proud of herself. this is a elderly who has pain and is fragile!!!! anything that you accidentally missed of your loved ones belongings after they've passed away, the nurses either throw the items away or give them to other residents or take them home for themselves.... to me that is just very disrespectful. about 2 weeks or so ago, i over heard a resident telling a nurse that another nurse slapped her in the face :( this place is just awful, and it's too expensive.

The staff at "The Anderson " took good care of me. They were polite, cheerful, encouraging and made…read moreme laugh. I enjoyed meeting my peers., doing creative activities with them. The staff makes us all laugh. They work hard to cheer us up. They interviewed me to find out what I like and others there then arranged activities to enhance our stay. The Chef cooked special orders cheerfully. I found the food fresh & delicious. Loved getting breakfast in bed when I slept in. I was bed ridden until physical & occupational therapists worked with me to get me walking again and reducing my oxygen from 4 down to one. I feel it is possible to be back in the league playing tennis & golf again next summer. Thank you everyone peers & staff at The Anderson ". For the gentleman who went to Heaven instead of home. His family was well liked too. The funeral director took care of everything. We mourned and did an activity he would have enjoyed by watching "The Haunted House" with Eddy Murphy. I felt closure talking with my peers. If you or a family member needs special care? I strongly recommend "The Anderson".

I had many experiences with St. E's hospice when it was at the hospital. My father-in-law and…read moreboth my grandparents were patients in hospice and they received excellent care. I have only one experience with the off-site hospice. My mother suffered for two years with inoperable colon cancer and died in 2007. I cannot say enough about the travelling hospice staff, they were god-sends. They were compassionate, professional and helpful. When the end came, I was grateful to the travelling staff who were so good to my mother and my family. That said, the staff at the physical hospice were a totally different manner. Mother had been told by the travelling nursing staff that when the time came that she felt that it was time, that she was to call and come in. She did just as she had been instructed. She called the hospice and then called me to come and get her. She signed all the forms and instructed the staff that I was the contact person since I was her only child and I was the person who brought her in. This was at 2 AM in the morning. At 8:00 AM in the morning I got a call from my mother's younger sister. She had received my message about Mom and gone first thing over to the hospice and discovered Mom crying uncontrollably. She had been told by the social worker that, and I quote, "She wasn't dying fast enough" and that as the nearby nursing homes were full, she would be sent to one in Pendleton Co.! She had only been there 6 hrs and she was being told that she wasn't dying fast enough and would be shipped like a sack of rotten potatoes to a nursing home in another county. The staff had no explanation why they would spring such information on a dying woman without calling in the family member who brought her in. There was no excuse for telling a woman whose cancer was so severe that it not only was attacking every organ in her body but was literally breaking through the skin, a woman who at 5'6" only weighed 65 lbs. that she wasn't dying quick enough. Long story short, my mother died in my home with her family by her side. I only wish that in her final days that the in-house staff of St. E's hospice could have treated her with the kindness and dignity she deserved. Were I rating the travelling staff, I would give them a 5. The in-house staff at the physical hospice, I would give a 1.
