I'd like to give a shotout to this local business. We've been noticing some termites around, not a lot, but enough for some concern. We called 2 businesses to come and do inspections and give us quotes. The Oahu based business quoted us about $5000 and said we would need to tent our home. However, the Bowman inspector, did a thorough look thru and let us know that it looks like they were just in one main area. He said because our house is newer, he recommended just replacing the molding that they seem to be getting into. He was straight up and informed us that tenting our home was not necessary. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate the honesty. If you are looking for a legit pest control company that is not just out for your money, I highly recommend Bowman. Today, March 3, 2026, I had a scheduled termite fumigation appointment at my home in Pahoa, Puna. The man arrived, introduced himself, looked up at the roof, and said, "Oh, we won't be able to tent because your roof's edges are jagged and might rip a hole in our tents." I said, "I am closing on the sale of my home." He replied, "The only way we would do it is if you put boards up along the edges." My response was, "I am following up on a quote from last year, and in my report and quote, nothing was mentioned about my roofʻs edges." Then he said, "It is because someone fell off the roof last year." His change in wording and explanation about the condition of the edges of my roof and the person who fell off the roof makes no sense. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He left me feeling unimportant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before signing the contract, I made it very clear to the sales rep, Kaitlyn, that I am only available for interior m/exterior service on specific days. I was never told this schedule couldn't be guaranteed[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately, the last two months have been a complete scheduling nightmare. Despite my upfront request, I've been told by the office staff that they can only accommodate me on a day which was not one of my requested days[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My interior has not been treated for two months now, which completely defeats the purpose of the ongoing service I'm paying for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I expressed my frustration and reminded them of our initial agreement, I was told they have "other clients " and can't guarantee my days of request.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If a specific schedule is crucial for you, I would be cautious about using this company. Unfortunately I need to change my glowing review to one of disappointment. Bowman cancelled our house spray, then turned up at the wrong time for the next one when they knew no one was available, and delayed our monthly service continuously. It is 7 weeks since they sprayed now! We pay for a monthly service. Yet they are still sending us monthly bills!! This did not happen previously when I dealt with Olivia, however Olivia has now left the company and things have gone downhill fast for us. Now the German cockroach infestation that we had under control with monthly sprays for the past 2.5 years has come back and we have cockroaches in our cupboards, on our walls and even in our fridge :( We have a brand new kitchen and appliances that are being ruined by Bowman's inability to honor monthly sprays which is noted in the contract we have with them. We are having to buy spray and traps and try to contain the cockroach infestation ourselves while we wait for Bowmans to turn up!! And still the monthly bills come from them. I am so upset that my house has a cockroach infestation while I am paying a professional company a monthly contract to spray and they don't turn up and do their job!! Update: Bowmans came and sprayed at the 7 week mark end of July, then they turned up 9 DAYS LATER for our August spray!!!! It is ridiculous. I don't know who is running their service department but they are doing a terrible job and don't seem to know what a calendar month is :( God knows when our next spray will be. Probably another 7 weeks. Cockroaches are enjoying themselves at our expense. read more

Recent fumigation of my home for termites. Upon arrival the persons applying the tenting did not come to my door, to let me know what to expect that day. I had to go to the truck to interrupt the one guy who was on his phone texting. Customers need some kind of contact and possibly reassurance, since they are leaving their home and everything in it in their hands. When I spoke to Mike from that department about my concerns, he never offered an apology or explanation. He basically has the personality of a rock! Kinda disappointed in Bowman as a company. Living on Lanai your pest control options are very limited, so I am so pleased with the service Bowman Pest has given to me for the past few years. I've had pest control from a few different companies over the years and they all come from either Maui or Oahu with none based on Lanai. All the previous ones treat you like a number, but not Bowman. Our first technician was Dane, he was so knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. What really got us that Bowman was a great choice was when I called because I had a rat swimming in my toilet, Dane came that day and removed it. So when he said he had to hand us off to another technician because he was overbooked we were apprehensive. Glad to say his Lanai partner, Alex, is really good too. Also, if I have any issues all I have to do is call Dane and he will come or he will relay it to Alex and one of them will take care of it pretty quickly since one of them are on island regularly. The company I work for uses this business for pest management. This family-owned and operated business has been around for decades. While they have expanded to the Big Island and Oahu, their service on Maui is still great. Their staff are professionally-dressed with a Bowman polo shirt and long pants and come with a company vehicle, so that you know they are authorized. They primarily do maintenance on our building and don't hesitate to address specific pest issues should they arise. I would highly recommend them to other companies on Maui. read more

Hard to contact. Was suppose to have appt beginning of month noone called to reschedule. Called to follow up and they moved me to end of month which would have been a 2 month gap, was able to squeeze me in the week after calling. Typically don't get anyone to answer residential calls, have to leave multiple messages or continue to cal until you get lucky. Not a lot of providers in area. Ansen is an asset. Very professional and made up for the previous customer service issue. Hope he continues to be our tech. read more

I had termites in two chairs and spoke to Megan at Bowman. She said they have outdoor "tents" that are used just for that situation, so I took my two chairs there, put them in a tent, and they then fumigated for a day and a half. Megan was very kind and accommodating--and flexible. I also spoke with the owner's son-in-law, Waken, also kind and helpful. It cost me $187.50 which seemed a lot, but better than termites eating up my furniture. Great family business! They deserve a four star. Jim read more

I would not recommend! Screens were broken and they hammered a clamp into my window trim. poor communication when calling the office and it was not easy to get them to come and see the damage. The screens were eventually replaced after a few weeks. The window trim still NOT fixed. They sent a worker here to calk it. I am not satisfied with that. The company has a good reputation but i did not have a good experience. It would have been good business if they told me that sometimes screens get damaged during tenting and they will replaced if there is any damage. Again I would not recommend for the hassle of trying to get the screens replaced and the damage to the window trim what was not fixed by the company. read more

Bowman does not care about their customers or their pets. They treated my house for roaches and their tech did not tell me he put bait stations in my house. My dog chewed one up and became very sick. He was vomiting and had bloody stool for 2 days. My vet bill was $700. Thankfully my dog is ok but Bowman did not take any responsibility for what happened, nor did they offer an apology for what happened or try and make it right. This company is not safe and if you have pets, their bait stations are not safe for pets. It's really shameful how they handled this situation. read more

Very affordable. I have had bowman servicing my home for a few years now. I used to have problems with centipedes inside my home, now that we spray I rarely see them, and when I do, they are dead. :) I would love if they would offer more notice about when you technician is scheduled to come, they usually call the day before. Burt had Bowman come out MONTHLY for 6 months. Sprayed inside and out every time but once. Waste of money! $65 bucks a month. The guy is here less than 5 minutes. Burt saw MORE bugs than before! Worst experience ever! Do NOT use! If you care about your house, go elsewhere. We bought a house recently in Kihei. Bowman was hired for the termite inspection. They claimed they found no live termites and passed the inspection. Less than 12 months owning the home we found live termites everywhere in the house. We hired three local termite experts and they all were shocked to hear we passed inspection. Shame on Bowman!!! They do a lousy job. Have no integrity of what they do. Don't be the next victim.
