This store is so cute, it has so many nostalgic items in a variety of products. You'll find clothing, trinkets, houseware, accessories and so much more. Most items are from pop culture like Disney, cartoons, Studio Ghibli, comics and other much loved characters. From browsing, a lot of the items are great quality but it all depends on what you're looking for. I love Studio Ghibli and a lot of the Disney items they have and I'm always drawn to the mugs and sweaters. The store is well organized and the staff are friendly and happy to help you if you need it. They also have a website that you can order items for pick up to the store or if you don't find a size you need you can check out the online store. Came in on a Thursday morning looking for a birthday present for my brother. Staff are super friendly and helpful to suggest options and show me their different sections that matched my brother's interest. They have a great selection of apparel and accessories for all the fandoms you could be a part of from the nightmare before Christmas to dragon ball z to Jurassic park to Harry Potter. Disney, Harry Potter, and Funko Pops! That's the simple review for this place. It's the kid friendly version of Hot Topic. The left side of the store has Disney merchandise such as clothes, purses, backpacks, and other stuff. The right side is tally Harry Potter merchandise or Star Wars related. This store also has a lot of merchandise from Marvel, Avatar: The Last Bender, and Game of Thrones. They have some merchandise for Friends, Bob's Burgers, Wonder Woman, and the Office. On the back wall, there are many Funko Pops from various shows and movies. The one downside is that this store is pricey (especially the clothes). It's nice when they have a sale. read more

Sometimes it can get very crowded in the store & the line is in the way of shoppers. The customer service however is excellent. The cashiers are always nice & upbeat. They have lots of merchandise from various brands and shows, so there's some fun to be found in browsing. Definitely on the expensive side though. Ahh BoxLunch is a dream. I could honestly spend hours in here (and I have) and still find more cool/clever/obscure pop-culture references to look at. I remember thinking that BoxLunch reminded me a lot of a lighter, not-punk version of Hot Topic, with an emphasis on pop culture and all the apparel and do dads you could hope for. After scrolling around on their website, I realized that BoxLunch is a sub-store of Hot Topic! So there ya go. Having grown out of my punk, studded belts, and band tee teenage phase, but still an avid consumer of all things pop culture (esp Disney and Harry Potter), I always plan to make a stop by BoxLunch when I'm at the mall. I'll even go to the mall with the sole intention of going to BoxLunch - it's that great. Yes, it's kind of expensive, but what isn't nowadays? Savvy shoppers can head towards the back of the store towards their clearance clothing racks and accessories. They'll often have clearance sales like "Buy One, Get Two Free" or "Buy One, Get One for $1." The sale associates are always sure to let you know what store-wide and clearance sales they have going on. Employees here are cheerfully greeting you, happy to answer any questions or check the back for additional sizes, and strike up conversations about cute items you might be considering. I'm awed by how upbeat and personable they all are, and they're really knowledgeable about all the different deals they have going on ("Buy One Tee or Tank, Get the Second for 30% Off"). Plus, when you have BoxLunch Money to spend (coupons that you earn after spending a certain amount in-store or online), the sale associates can tell you exactly what the amount covers. For example, my boyfriend and I earned three "$15 off of $30" BoxLunch Money coupons on an earlier visit to BoxLunch, which we could redeem from 7/5 - 7/15. When we visited the store earlier this weekend, the sales associate told us that we could apply the discount to any items marked as they are, without additional promos (like getting a second tee for a discounted rate), and all of the coupons could be applied to a single transaction. To top it all off, for every $10 spent here, BoxLunch donates a meal to a person in need. And when your total is rung up on the register, the sales associate will ask if you'd like to round up to the nearest dollar to donate some extra cents to Feeding America. Little store right next to Spencers and hot topic. Smaller than those stores but packed with lots of geeky/needy gifts. Harry potter. Dr. Who. A little Disney - like Alice in Wonderland. Pokémon. NASA.. All that kind of stuff that's the perfect gift for your nerd pals. It can be a little claustrophobic if you get more than a dozen people in there. But the staff were so friendly and helpful. And they have a mission to provide meals to the hungry. So every $10 spent is a meal to someone in need. read more

Box Lunch has quickly become my new favorite store for pop culture and Disney needs. They carry the Danielle Nicole x Disney handbags, which are a must have when taking a trip to the park! Besides that, they carry pretty much everything Disney-related you'd need, as well as other popular brands like Harry Potter, Pokemon, Stranger Things, Nickelodeon, etc. I like that they donate money to charity with your purchase, which perhaps explains why their prices are so high. My only complaint about this place is that their prices are overpriced, so I rarely will buy something here full-price. The sale sections sometimes have some great deals though! The last time I was here, they had a "buy one, get two free" on clearance items, so I got 3 items for $30 (two shirts and a book). I wish they would carry more women's Disney button-up shirts, like the long sleeved light pink Aristocats top I got with embroidered Maries on the collar. Super cute and something I can wear to work! Also, pro tip: most Box Lunch stores have their own Instagram accounts, and this is a great way to track your local store's inventory, since they will post pictures of new merchandise. read more

"They give back which is why there stuff is so much." Cute but IN MY OPINION, being that they don't give back LOCALLY (you know in Sacramento which has one of the largest homeless populations in the country; all their stuff is based out of LA/SoCal), it doesn't mean much to me. Surprisingly disappointed in my experience today. Went in knowing exactly what I wanted and exactly where it is. Grabbed it and headed to checkout. The young woman who checked us out was completely in her own little world. She was distracted probably 5 times before we were done and the other person who was at the registers didn't help by talking to her about coupons in the middle of our transaction. After finally being done and getting out of there and getting home, I find the security tag is still on the bag. I am disabled right now and can't drive. My fiancé was nice enough to drive me over there to get this, as a Mother's Day gift. So now I have to find someone to take me back there to get the tag off. I really like this store, but this was a disappointing trip. read more

First this place is a total throw back to the 90s and my childhood ! They have Rugrats stuff, Gilmore Girls, Disney and more! They seriously have the cutest stuff and great service! Jesenia and Shauna helped me it and explained the stores purpose and their giving of meals to others ! I was very impressed - apparently every ten dollars you spend in store provides a meal to a person in need! Apparently this store was on BUZZ FEED due to it being the most philanthropic store to shop at for Christmas gifts and gifts in general! This place is a geek's paradise. I travel for work a ton, and when we have days off in Sacramento, I always get excited to go to the mall and go to Box Lunch. The themes are constantly changing, but it's always video games, cartoons, movies, anime, TV, and pop culture. On my most recent visit, they had Dragon Ball Z, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, NASA, Bob's Burger's, Pokémon, Totoro, and a bunch of other fun stuff. Lots of apparel, trinkets, and collectibles. Their back wall is also full of Pop Figures if you're into that. Their customer service is always awesome, and Holly, the girl working at the time, was extremely friendly and could hold a great conversation. On top of the store being awesome, you also have the option to round your change to the next dollar and donate it to provide lunches for those in need. Pretty awesome. read more

Where the hell was Box Lunch when I was a kid? Eh who cares, it's here now and it's a geek/manchilds dream come true!!! Much like a Lootcrate if you will but an actual store, it's wall to wall full on geekery here. If you are a millenial you are in for a treat. Everything you could possibly think of from your childhood they have it here, from graphic tees to toys... Excuse me "Action Figures" and memorabilia you can pretty much find whatever your heart desires here. Personally i'm a big super hero and Star Wars fan so i'm pretty much all over that stuff. I must admit the prices are pretty high but a lot like Target I can't just leave empty handed. Worst boxlunch I've ever been to. Got to the mall at 6:40 am for a release. Then we were 2nd in line and because a crazy lady tried starting stuff because she was 3rd in line and might not get the new release they decided to shut down the release instead of kicking her out. So not only did we drive over an hour for us to get to this store my husband took a day off of work so we could be there way before the release waited 4 hours for the store to open just for them to cancel it. The girl manager said her boss said she had to take everything and put it in back and could not sell anymore of the backpacks that day. So we finally left. Then come to find out about 30 mins later they put half of them back out to sell. It was pathetic. Will never do any releases with this box lunch and really after this I really don't want to spend any of my time or money at box lunch anymore, don't waste your time with any of the releases with this box lunch you will be disappointed. The thing that gets me the most is the manager saying she will get in so much trouble if she sold anymore of those backpacks that day after she got off with her boss. And then 30 mins later they self half of them to other customers. Also Male manager at this box lunch is a jerk and not friendly when I came once before. I have never felt the need to review a place of business I have visited but, my experiences at Box Lunch are ones I am not happy with. I try to cut slack for stores and management knowing we are all human and usually attempting to do our best. However, though this store has great inventory, an appealing setup and thoughtful marketing; it is their manager that has ruined both experiences for me. Both times I overheard her telling her employees to continiously berate the customers to buy more things even if they say they are not interested. Not only this but, she talks to her employees like they are children (literally, children who are learning to talk and listen i.e. talking slow to them as if they are stupid) and has had bad attitudes with the customers and a verbal altercation with another. I have only been here twice and just so happened to be lucky enough [sarcasm] to come in when she was working and never have I been around such an awkward, unwelcoming environment as Box Lunch in Arden Fair. I couldn't help but feel bad for the poor employee that was helping me; doing their best to appease their boss by berating me to buy more when I already knew what I was coming in for and didn't care to spend more money on stuff that holds no necessity in my life. I could sense the unpleasantness a lot of the employees on the floor felt and I knew this is a problem of management once I saw firsthand how the manager of this establishment treats its foundation: the customers and employees. So, as long as the current manager remains, I will not be supporting a company who allows this treatment of their lower-tier employees. What we see as customers in stores is a good reflection of what goes on in corporate and I don't believe you want this manager representing your brand as she harasses her employees and customers. read more
