This is a small family cemetery located about 200 yards south from busy US 79. It is a very small…read morefamily plot about 40 x 60' square with two large oak trees in the middle. In the middle of this cemetery is a Texas state historical marker made of pink granite. It is dedicated to Major Robert McNutt who was the commander of the Texas forces at the battle of San Jacinto. Almost all of the 20 or so graves are from the late 1800s. There has been some effort to repair some of the broken headstones, but a little more work needs to be done. Like most cemeteries of this period, there were some infant graves. I also found three markers of unknown graves. This cemetery is slowly being surrounded on all sides by new construction. It would not surprise me if at some point in the future it is relocated. Definitely some local history to be found here.

I have to admit I was rather surprised to find the cemetery tucked away amongst these homes not far from Burnet Road. Unfortunately many of these graves have toppled, been vandalized or are simply just lost to time. Although, it's quite obvious that efforts have been made to preserve and fix some of these headstones. The oldest decedent that I could find buried here was from 1851. It's unlikely this is an active cemetery since the last decedent was planted here before 1920. It is a registered historical landmark cemetery. This cemetery exists at the back of a vacant trash strewn grassy lot. It resides next to a gas…read morestation at the I 35 and Braker intersection. The access point to the cemetery is from a driveway on Braker that leads to a chain link gateway (see photo below). The graveyard is not visible from the road, it is located a few hundred yards beyond the gate to the left. The undeveloped lot has several old-growth Live Oak trees and it's basically overgrown. Near the back of the lot I was surprised to find a few graves scattered about and they did not seem to have any particular order to them. Some of these graves are from the 1800s while others seem to be more modern. I spotted one gravestone beyond the fence perimeter in an overgrown section and there may have been more that I could not see. I did notice that two of the oldest graves were of people that lived to be over 100 years old. There appears to be some smaller older graves buried beneath the grass and underbrush that I could not identify. I did take several pictures of the graves themselves so you could see who was actually buried here. Sadly no care has been taken to maintain this small cemetery space as it has been completely overtaken by nature.

It is surrounded on all sides by new apartments and businesses and a car dealership. Fortunately a landscaping company has been overseeing the conditions and there are many old growth live oaks providing much shade. There is a short driveway on which to park on, but no road running through it and it is surrounded by a 4 foot perimeter fence. The cemetery is about an acre, perhaps larger in size. The majority of the graves found here date from the late 1800s and the newest ones I could find was a WW1 sevice member buried here in 1975. There was also another WWII service member buried here in 1993 whose picture is included in this review. Some of these gravemarkers actually tell some interesting stories as are pictured below in the review. There are freed slaves and American native Indians buried here. And like a lot of cemeteries from this time period, there are several infants and young children found interred here. Boatright is a recognizable historicle name found here and more Boatrights can be found at the Oak Grove cemetery 5 miles away on Spicewood Springs Rd. There is a small rocky memorial wall which is dedicated to all the lost and unidentifiable graves. Judging by the lack of any burials past the 1990s, I think it's safe to assume this is no longer an active cemetery. If you enjoy walking through old cemeteries, this landmark should be added to your list.

This cemetery is just a stones throw away from I 35, just a block from Stassney Ln and behind some…read moreretail outlets. I spotted it on Google maps, so with this review, the photos should make it to Google maps. Unfortunately, it is completely overgrown and uncared for which makes it hard to spot from the road. There is a fence that surrounds the perimeter, but it too has seen better days. To add to the confusion, many of the graves are just randomly laid out and in a state of disrepair. Little to no effort has been made to restore the grounds. Most of the markers are cast in concrete, not granite, leading me to believe this may be an African-American graveyard. It appears some members of the public have set up a few benches at the fence perimeter, but no restoration has been attempted. If you come here in the summertime and the weeds are high, you may run across a snake. You will need jeans and boots to get through all the scrub and stickers. Apart from a Texas historical marker, there is no additional information that I could find other than in the photos below.

This is still an active cemetery with just a handful of graves on it with much more room for future residents. There is an access point on Caldwell Lane, but unfortunately it looks like someone just drove right through the gate destroying it. There is no sign denoting the name of the cemetery but there is another cemetery nearby called Comanche Cemetery North. Considering its location I was surprised to see that the grass was well mowed and the graves were well tended. However being such a small cemetery there is no road of any sort leading into it so you'll just have to park just past the gate. The primary name that I could find here was Haws and in the corner of the cemetery is a large oak tree that obscures some fallen older gravestones. I did not spot any historical names here, unlike the nearby Hainy Church cemetery. It should be pointed out that just a couple hundred feet south of the cemetery lie additional headstones in a field along Caldwell. However, they are not as easily seen because this field is overgrown with weeds and the graves don't appear to be cared for. There's not a whole lot to see at this site, but there's room enough to make it your forever home.

This is another one of those cemetery plots in the Austin area that just seem to show up out of…read morenowhere in the middle of a residential area. This cemetery sits at the end of a cul-de-sac on Teton Drive, which is just a few blocks from US 183 on Ohlen Road. Sadly, the cemetery which sits on less than an acre is in a shambles and in a very disorganized state. It is completely surrounded by residential homes on all sides, but this would've been in the middle of nowhere at the turn of the 20th century, which is how old some of these markers are. There are many older headstones here blended in with some newer ones as recently as 2020. Most of the cemetery is primarily green space with lots of toppled over headstones. That leads me to believe there may be many people buried at this location which may have had wooden markers at one time which have long since decayed away. Why there are some recent interments amongst these much older ones in such a dilapidated and disorganized cemetery is beyond me. I suspect this may be a African-American cemetery. Unfortunately, at this time, it does not appear that any attempt has been made to restore any of the fallen or broken headstones. At least the photos below will be added to Google maps.

There are 172 burials at the cemetery that have been documented at findagrave.com. Other documents and websites include various information about burials and family members. The Find a Grave listings include some images of the people buried there and their grave markers, obituaries, and death certificates. The cemetery, once in an open field, was surrounded by the Wooten neighborhood when it was established; eventually the high fence was added. Note: The church's website shows its name as "St. Paul." On Find a Grave, the cemetery is listed as "St. Pauls." The sign on the cemetery fence reads "St. Paul's Baptist Church."

It sits surrounded by the quiet countryside on all sides with one or two residences nearby. This is still an active graveyard that has been well taken care of with lots of nice manicured oak trees. Many of these old headstones appear to have been cleaned and repaired. The headstones are well laid out and feature quite a number of family plots. There are quite a few headstones from the late 1800s but there are some very recent burials as well. There are numerous service members laid to rest here including a confederate veteran. There is a mailbox just inside the gate which has a full listing of who is buried where as well as some additional information. If you were thinking of making this your forever home, there's still enough space for about 30 to 50 graves.
