Great visit with our new vet. I took my pup there for a couple of doggy day care visits. They went very well. I have him scheduled for a couple of groomings there one in August and one in September. I was very disappointed to find out that the groomer is leaving (after something like 20 years) and that they are not planning to replace her. I just moved to the area and I am used to being able to have my dogs groomed (at a minimum have them bathed and brushed) before I pick them after being kenneled. So I find this a bit irregular. Why not hire another groomer??? read more

The front desk was helpful and friendly. The vet , not so much. They don't tell you about your options regarding vaccinations. My dog will need a dental procedure, but I don't feel comfortable about having it done there. After leaving, I felt like making money was there top priority. read more

The vets are amazing, they get on the floor with your pups and let your dogs smell them & get relaxed and comfortable. The exam itself was more like getting loved on for my anxious one. Kayla at the front desk was extremely rude and full of hate. End of life services was needed for a current patient (dog) with positive history from on-site grooming as well from staff. Kayla refused to assist with this and we were told to go to the local human society where we were unable to be present. Rethink this awful place before a rapport begins. One of the best experiences I have ever had with a vet and we have had Goldens since 1992 and had a vet we adored in Utah. We have just recently moved to Colorado and won't have our permanent home until the end of November. We have our fabulous Golden Retriever with us and an ear infection appeared out of nowhere. The home we are moving too is very close to Boyd Lake Veterinary Center and I called to make an appointment so we could get him established with a local vet and have his ear looked at. The staff were VERY friendly and professional on the phone and I got an appointment with Dr. Tyszko who could not have been nicer. Worst experience ever!! Told them not to shave my dog and turned around and shaved him anyways! Dropped him off at 8 when it's a drop off bases system and didn't get to pick him up till 430. We were having a/c work done on our motorhome in Loveland on a 100 degree day and needed a way to keep our kitties cool while the work was being done. Boyd Lake Vet Center was close to the RV shop so we checked the Yelp reviews and gave them a call. For just over twenty bucks our two cats were given their own little cool and comfortable room for the day with all of the amenities and we could explore Loveland without worrying about our beloved (and spoiled) critters. I was visiting Loveland and had something to come up that requires me to put my dog in boarding for a day. When I called Boyd Lake Vet., the staff here was wonderful. I explained that I was from out of state, needed to board my dog but couldn't find her paperwork, without any hesitation they allowed my vet to email the paperwork and they took Miracle (my little Shihtzu right in). She stayed there a day and a half, when I picked her up she had her toenails clipped, was happy and they gave me a report card of what she did, by the way she wanted to sleep in the staffs lap. Left my dog in a room with no water for 8 hours. I dropped him off for a little trim and a cleaning and they shaved him. They didn't bathe him and didn't clip his nails. They practically abused my dog they didn't even let him out to use the bathroom. DO NOT go here this is disgusting. read more

This is a decent vets office, I enjoy the Vets they're very respectful however there is a problem with communication and notifying clientele of what policies are when it comes to vaccinations. If you don't mind spending the extra money at a veterinary office to have them give every single vaccination that you need to your animals they're great. If you are somebody who doesn't have a lot of extra money and give all of the vaccinations outside of rabies to your animals on your own, they will not tell you until after the fact. They tell you that it's part of their policies but it's not a part of anything that they show the clients or discuss with the clientele until after a vaccine has already been given and then when you send them the information on the back scene they tell you that they do not accept that. Due to this specific circumstance I have chosen to take my business somewhere else. I can afford to get my own vaccines because I know how to give them and I know how to store them and they're cheaper to do on your own. The rabies is required by law to go through a veterinarian. So if you like having them give all your vaccines and you don't know how to give them on your own they're a fantastic vet. If you prefer giving your own vaccines outside of what is required by law to be given by a veterinarian skip them completely. read more

I am very disappointed that I have to write this. I have been taking my two sweet pups to Boyd Lake vet center and doggie daycare for the past two years, with the occasional overnights when I've gone out of town. This morning, when I dropped them off, they told me that they no longer have time to feed any dogs that are not boarding more than once a day. They are very busy with "other things." My dogs get two small meals a day and a lunchtime treat. They have been doing this for 2 years. Now, they have a new (4th) manager who is making this rule, stating they only have time to devote to the boarding dogs. But I did not get any warning; no phone call; no this is the last time and next time we'll implement this. She couldn't promise me they would get fed as usual and I couldn't take the chance that my dogs would go 11 hours without any food or treats. So, I took them to Camp Bow Wow in Loveland. They were friendly, very accommodating, and said they had no problem feeding my dogs on whatever schedule they're on. It's a beautiful, brand new facility. Very clean and open. Oh, by the way, they are less expensive than Boyd Lake and have better operating hours. I will be taking my sweet boys to Camp Bow Wow from now on. read more

Jacks our black lab comes here a couple times a week while I'm working down the street. The girls at the front desk are always sweet. You are always greeted with a smile. We purchase the doggie daycare in a pack of 15 so you get a great daily rate. The girls at the kennel / daycare area always are a pleasure as well, so you know they will take care of your "kids". I know this because Jacks is always excited to see the girls! Very clean inside. The Vets here are awesome as well. Just overall a great place for your loved ones! Woof! Boyd Lake Veterinary Center - Waiting to go to doggie daycare! I miss my friends at Boyd Lake! - Veterinarians Near Me - Loveland, Colorado

I did not have a good experience here. My dog was peeing blood and they did the usual tests and put her on a a round of antibiotics. I brought her back for a follow up, because I could tell she was still having difficulty urinating. I spent more money on blood tests, because they said she no longer had a bladder infection. The vet didn't call with the results like he said he would. When I called to say nobody called me, all I got was excuses and untruths. I called again and said my dog was peeing blood again and that I still hadn't heard from a vet. The vet that treated her finally left a message to say he did call both numbers and there was no answer (both are cell phones with no record of his call) AND that her blood test is fine and she's healthy. Did he miss the two messages about my dog still peeing blood? Obviously we went to another vet, where they did the proper testing and found out that she had a SEVERE bladder infection and prescribed the PROPER antibiotic for the bacterial infection she was suffering from. They also put her on special food which Boyd Lake never recommended. Go to Loveland Veterinary, they truly care and have excellent follow through. BTW, still waiting to hear back fro your Office Manager about this situation. THIS PLACE IS NEGLECTFUL. read more

Boyd Lake just sent me a reminder that my Hobo is long over due for his exam. That would be because your doctors killed him. You missed his very obvious signs for osteosarcoma and let me believe there was no way he had cancer. In fact he did and after listening to your staff, and splinting a leg that should of been removed for months. His cancer had time to grow. Thank god I used my better judgement and took him elsewhere. There, before seeing my dog and just looking at YOUR X-rays, he asked if anyone had pointed out the small boney changes in his X-ray, yes they had, your doctor told me to not worry about cancer " there is no way it's cancer" ... By that point we had a full blown tumor, a broken leg and a very poor prognosis. We amputated, did thousands of dollars in chemo and lost our best friend 4 short months later. If you had done your job, listened to the specialist and took a biopsy like I asked, my friend would likely have been here much, much longer, maybe even today. I have told everyone I know to avoid your office at all cost. I pray that you have not caused the untimely death of other pets but I realize that the way you practice, it is unlikely. I will continue to warn people about your office and hope that I can save other people's bestfriends. Edited: 8/4/17. Since I can not reply to your comment I will edit this instead. WOW you guys are a piece of work, more than two years after I left this review you decide to bring up this very painful event in our lives again. Your lack of compassion is ridiculous. You very much told me not to worry about cancer and that there's no way it's cancer because you just don't see it in dogs of his breed at his age. You did send his X-rays to multiple specialist and in hindsight for me I should never of trusted your "professional opinion" on their reviews. To continue to splint his leg was in fact your recommendation and the other options you mentioned you gave me were never formally presented to me. However since it's been over four years since this incident you may of mentioned them briefly to a very upset owner and I have forgotten them. However being employed in the veterinary world I very much understand what the prognosis of cancer meant and you in fact gave me false hope with your comments about his age and breed and "no way it's cancer". I chose at the time to not pursue legal action against your office, even under the advice of the specialist and doctors at CSU, because it would not bring my boy back. I left it be until you contacted me 2 years after his passing and I left you this review to help fellow pet lovers choose an honest and knowledgeable vet. Clearly I should of chosen the other option. I honestly hope you feel fantastic about yourself and your ability to be a decent human being after this nonsense. Super personable staff!!! We felt welcome, from our first interaction on the phone, through drop off, and finally pick up. They have viewing windows and said I could watch my pup for as long as I wanted. They introduced one dog at a time. Comparing to other daycare/boarding facilities, I do miss the cameras and the option for large indoor play areas (the outdoor area is shaded, but still pretty hot on 95 degree days). If you're looking for quality care without the frills, Boyd Lake Vet is great! I can't say enough good things about the women with whom I interacted. This is such a great team. They are always super friendly, whether over the phone or in person. I have two pit bulls, Charlie and Penny, they've seen the most of Penny. We rescued her from a Humane Society in Denver Oct 2017, and after a month or so of having her home, she developed a nasty rash on her belly. Penny isn't a very large pit bull but she LOVES people and gets very riled up. She just wants to play with everyone, so upon our arrival for our first visit she was extremely jumpy (in a happy way) and the girls at the desk were just as happy to see Penny as she was to see them. We got into the waiting room and right away she apologized that there would be a wait as they were running behind. Hardly even 5 minutes later the Doctor walked in and apologized for the wait. I was surprised as I was expecting a 20-30 minute wait. She saw how excited Penny was and actually got on the floor with her to play. I'm a sucker for dogs so this totally hit home with me. She examined Penny and diagnosed her with a rash and explained all the reasons and what my options were. All in all they've helped us figure out how to manage the rashes and have professionally and politely answered all of my crazy dog mom questions that anyone else probably would have rolled their eyes and told me to stop being so obsessive. I feel as if they're very reasonably priced and they're always calling to make sure Penny is doing good after a visit which I think is super sweet and reassuring to me that they care about their patients. I got a checkup and prescription for my cat for anxiety because he had to take a 10 hour car ride with me on Tuesday. They told me to do a test to see if it worked, and if it didn't they would prescribe something else, so I did that weekend. It didn't work on him so I called them Monday at 10am to get a different drug. They told me they would send it to the pharmacy next to me (currently an hour away from them). No response telling me it's been done. Call again at 2, get the same response. Call again at 5:58 right before they close, and they ask if they can call me tomorrow. I tell them I need it tonight because the dosage is supposed to start 10 hours before travel. They tell me it will be done within an hour. Call the pharmacy at 7:10, and they STILL never sent it. I am extremely livid and now my cat has to travel for 10 hours in the car in the morning with no anxiety meds. I will never be going back here again. They can't even take the time to write a script during a 9 hour period. read more

I think the folks who do the day care especially Brenda and Dr. Tyszko are great. But I give places 3 strikes and that's it. After all these dogs are part of your family. First, my old dog (over 12) had surgery (I spent close to $1000 for surgery and medicines) and the next day no call from them to check up. My dog was bleeding so I called the office, no one answered so left a voice mail. An hour and a half later I had to call back as no one had called me and finally get to talk to a doctor. Second I had my dogs there for boarding a while back and requested they get a bath. One of my dogs is blind and almost 13 so had been walking in his own mess for 10 days. Yet no bath because the girl who does the grooming called in sick. Lots of folks there but no one can give a dog a bath after boarding for 10 days. Sad. And last I am shocked that you get charged an extra night after 2pm for boarding a pet when they don't even stay that night. I haven't seen that before although I have boarded my pets at many places. Pick up my dogs at 4 and boom additional nights charged for that night for both of them. Perhaps that makes sense during the busy season but really find that hard to believe. Young lady at front desk didn't know how to handle an upset customer. New to Loveland but will be looking for another place to board and a new vet. :-( Lots of folks in my complex and where I work have asked where I go and won't be recommending Boyd Lake Veterinary Center. read more
