I did the course Dec 2024 It is an absolute honor to learn from Mike Wilson who has over 40 years experience as a Paramedic. He's a rockstar in this business. He keeps the material fun, engaging, and has plenty of interesting stories wilder than your imagination. I had a blast with the online lectures and I'm definitely going to miss his humor. 'Gallows humor' he calls it. My kinda style! This 7 week course is packed with lots of information - a firehose of knowledge blasted into your face. It's definitely not for the faint of heart! But it's only 7 weeks of your life and these are skills that can be useful for your own health, your loved ones, whether or not you chose to pursue the pre-hospital care business. Just put aside your bad habits for 7 weeks, apply yourself, and trust me it'll be a life experience you won't forget. I passed my NREMT on the first try in 70 questions. If you pass Mike's course, the NREMT is easy-peasy! Thank you for the memories Mike!

Our…read moreclass worked hard and had some trying moments along the way as this is a serious class that demands your best, but in the end Mike Wilson and his team really want you to succeed and they definitely give you the tools to do so. If you're a good team player, you'll have the best experience- our class established a study group early on, which was instrumental to our success and now we have all formed friendships that will last long after the class is over! This goes along with the 'soft skills' you need for this job that Mike preaches from day one. The other neat thing about the class is we had students from all walks of life, from people getting into EMS as their first real job, to people on their way to becoming doctors! And we were all able to connect in meaningful ways and learn from each other. No matter who you are, Mike and the team will offer you something new, unique, and most importantly USEFUL for your career and for your life in general. Big thanks to Mike, Vince, Shaun and Ramon for your instruction and making sure we are all prepared to go out there and SAVE LIVES!!! EDIT: I just took the NREMT exam about a week after finishing the course and passed first time!!!

When I checked the website, all of the dates were full, but I ended up calling and speaking to a very lovely lady who helped me sign up for some spots she had available. On the day of the course, I came in not really knowing what to expect. Dallas Shelly was my instructor, and honestly, he was amazing. He made the class feel super comfortable, very engaging, and adjusted how he taught the material based on everyone's level of experience. By the end of it, I felt very satisfied and just wanted to come on here and say how easy the whole process was. They gave the certification at the end of the course, and overall, if I had to do this again, I'd definitely come back here. Oh, and Patrick the admin guy was nice as well.

In my experience, students were often told to purchase materials with little notice, sometimes the night before or even the same day they were needed, and some of those materials were never used at all. The quality of instruction also did not match the cost of the program. A large portion of the coursework was labeled as "self-study," with instructors frequently telling students to "read it on your own" rather than actually teaching the material during class. As a student, it felt frustrating to pay for instruction and support while being expected to teach myself much of the material. Students were also assigned handwritten "Signs and Symptoms" homework assignments that took a significant amount of time to complete but were never actually reviewed or gone over in class. With the large amount of material already being assigned, this often took away from valuable study time without providing much educational benefit. On quiz days, instructors would often quickly go over one or two chapters right before the quiz and then expect students to fully remember and understand all of the material immediately afterward. Personally, I felt there was not enough actual teaching, review, or preparation before being tested. During skills days, much of the equipment was broken or unusable, which made it difficult to practice properly. With around 60 students per class all paying nearly $1,500, I believe there should have been enough functioning equipment available for students. Another concern was the Block 2 exam. A new exam format was introduced, and the class average was reportedly around 60%, which made many students, including myself, feel that we were not properly prepared or set up for success. There were also multiple questions covering a topic that had never been discussed during lectures, which made the exam feel unfair and confusing for many students. I also spoke with many students throughout the class about their experiences with the program. A large handful mentioned that this was their second time taking the course because they had failed it the first time, which was honestly concerning to hear so often. The program also charges a $50 fee to reschedule ride-alongs regardless of the reason, including family emergencies or serious illness, and this policy was not clearly communicated beforehand. I also felt that students were often not clearly told why they failed certain tests or skills evaluations or what specific areas they needed to improve on. Because of this, I often felt unable to properly learn from my mistakes or understand what needed to be corrected moving forward. Overall, based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this program. It often felt more focused on collecting money than supporting students and helping them succeed.

I took my class with Matthew Perez, adjunct instructor to Barry, and he made sure the content was clear. The skills instructors and professors only want the best for us and it was thoroughly shown throughout my time that was spent with them. A lot of attention and guidance is provided to the students and if at any time confusion was present, the professors and skills instructors made sure to clarify the topics. Furthermore, whenever students had a question outside of class Mr. Perez was always prompt on answering emails and was able to meet the student's individual needs. As cheesy as it sounds, I can go on and on about how great this program is but you would only have to experience it to understand!

(For the first week, they kept on reminding us that we can go talk to them for help if we are struggling at all haha). - They encourage all students to ask question no matter how dumb you think that question is. As a person who is very detailed, I asked a lot of clarifying questions and I never felt uncomfortable doing so. - As most of the teachers are/ were experienced higher level EMTs (paramedic, fire fighter etc.), they shared many stories along with the lecture to make them more applicable to real life and engaging! - Students were very diverse in culture, age range, and goals. Some were students who just graduated high school and some were in their 30's! Some students' goals were becoming a nurse, firefighter, or doctor/ surgeon. It was fantastic getting to know each other's goals and stories :) - Note: 6 week course was quite demanding and required many hours of self-studying (to review or read ahead before we were given lectures). Every Wednesday was a day off so we were able to catch up and study whatever we needed. Don't worry though, it's not too bad if you study with others :) Final thoughts: 10/10 would recommend Tips: study anatomy and physiology beforehand (it helps a ton although is not required to succeed)
