DISHONEST BUSINESS ! They Don't Care about their students' success. THEIR FOCUS is to take Your MONEY that's it. This is Not a program where they will teach you anything. Spend your $1300 elsewhere, where you actually get something for it. Instructor is there - just for looks, not teaching but flipping quickly through slides, not even reading them fully, skipping some entirely. Not mentioning cursing throughout the lectures and the program. Here you have to be able to take their detailed exams without having the detailed information instructed to you prior. gaining at least 80. BEWARE! When you Fail because they didn't teach you detailed information to their detailed exams - you'll be told by Matt (owner) it's all Your Fault, that you didn't know what they didn't teach you or that they dont even allow you to know what you missed on exams throughout the course. BEWARE! When owner Matt tells ya'll that they constantly are working on Improving the program...etc - Because This is True - you are a GUINEA PIG in this situation, who is paying a lot to be put through this UNPROFESSIONAL program without any solid structure behind it. Not a school but some sort of mental boot camp where students struggle on their own. Full Time EMT course - is a FAST REVIEW COURSE for people who already have a pretty extensive knowledge in health science. They DON'T TEACH You material you will be tested on. After tests/exams you won't know what you missed, you'll never know what you missed until you are in the field working and make a crucial mistake I guess. More than HALf of our 14 people CLASS FAILED two days before final, and three days before end of program. Them accepting anyone who will pay $$$$ and not letting people know that this is - Super fast and intense program where You will Have To Learn All On Your Own - You will need to have ALL OF YOUR TIME to STUDY, and - some extra powerful academic skills to take exams (where occasionally some of the questions will be made up - in INCORRECT ACADEMIC FORMAT by the owner, because he doesn't want to make it easy to pass which is not already and ridiculous anyway! as they Do Not Teach You In Class) with gaining 80 or above without them preparing you At All All these components are setting students for failure. It's not right. It's NOT FAIR. This felt to me unprofessional and just really money-grabbing experience, not an academic one. There Must be a Warning - that this program is Not Designed for people who have no health science background. And that it's basically self-taught. Do not waste your time and money with this school. Class is about $1000 (where they suppose to teach you but they don't) Book w online access is about - $100 Mandatory Uniform - $200 that you won't be able to use anywhere else ever (has embroidered "student", their logo and your last name on it) $200 for mandatory uniform consists of: $45 plus tax $100 EMT boots plus tax $16 black belt plus tax In addition the bottom up shirt is so cheap and synthetic that you can't breath in it - No Joke, most people in our class had to opt out to buy their cotton T-shirt for additional $25 (they only take Cash for that ;) read more

After reading through the reviews, there some points that I would emphasize for others. The passing rate, according to information shown to me, is over 90 percent when taking the NRMT test for those finishing this accelerated course. Within a span of 7 months, I had to take the course 3 times. Within these months, I came across returning students. Many told me this was there 2nd 3rd time. And, I came across, whom had taken the course 6 times. In my experience, over these months, half if not over half students would be taken out the class due to underperformance. You need atleast an 80% on all tests, also, your quizzes and homework assignments must be done [if, you rely on mere tests scores, you would need approximately 100% on all tests]. I scored over 80% on all tests, but because of not turning in all scheduled homework and having a 70% on assigned quizzes I was dropped from my 2nd retake. Also, I was unaware there were hundred of students taking such course throughout all campuses. I was scheduled a ride along, approximately 2 to 3 hours away from my home. Paid a 50$ rescheduling fee. And, then I was told to.choose dates and times. I was informed, the reason I was scheduled far away, was due to limited opportunities, due to hundreds of students at each time, also needing accommodations. And, that ibrun the risk, of continuously being placed far away and would gave to pay rescheduling fees till I land a good spot. Fortunately, I informed the issue, and after posting a review about it, I was reached out within 30 minutes and told, Compton [not to far from me], would be the location I would get my second ride along from. Thus, in my opinion, much of the information in class [hours by the way] may not be covered in the quizzes or the tests. [Thus, information overload making it sort of hard]. The good thing, however, is for those determined, mastery oriented, such experience gives one the opportunity, to master the whole outlook. I look forward, on mastering this field and escalating through it. Thus, for me, the challenge of the accelerated course, actually made me more fit, sharper, and able to discern and make sense of the world I will be mastering. read more

I took the West Coast EMT program in June 2021. I enrolled in the 10 week evening class. It was by far an amazing experience!! I recommend this program 1000%. Jayson the instructor was amazing! He goes above and beyond for all of his students, and wants everyone to succeed, and does everything he can to make that possible. He would be there before class, stay as late as we needed him too helping students review and understand the material and provided a very supportive and encouraging space for us all the time. You are provided with SO many resources for you to succeed and pass the class. From jeopardy game reviews, fun interactive activities to help study and understand the material, notes and helpful handouts. Lectures are very entertaining with Jayson, you wont get bored, and he has a lot of cool, funny stories. The evening class is from 6pm-10pm, so we would come in for lecture and then we would do skills practice and other activities at times. All of the skill instructors are so helpful, friendly, they were amazing. Bill, Max, Joel, Natalie, Zion, just too name a few would come in and spend hours with us, assisting us to make sure we perfected our skills. Bill would even hold Sunday morning sessions for extra practice, since the evening class only comes in twice a week. Everyone goes above and beyond for you in this campus and it really shows and ultimately helped me succeed. Along with the class you also do two ride alongs with ambulance companies, that was very fun, and great learning experience, you really get to apply what your learning, and you'll see that Jayson is teaching you everything you need to know. Before the exams, Jayson provides a mock block and the jeopardy game which really prepares you for the exams. The program is hard, but very doable if you put in the work, and you have plenty of resources. The campus manager Heaven is SUPER nice, very organized and helpful, everything runs very smooth. I will speak on two main factors; the establishment itself and the specific experience I had. West Coast EMT is a flexible program for all individuals who hope to attain their EMT certificate. They offer a full time accelerated, 5 week program (what I chose), an evening, and weekend program. Their curriculum is comprehensive and in depth, meeting national registry requirements and beyond. What I loved most is how our instructor, Andrew Frank, would give us his first hand experiences from the field. His teaching style creates a daunting program for career changers, like myself, into a pleasant and insightful program. A final note I will mention is the establishment's overall mission towards matriculating successful and hard working EMT's out into the field. A quote that was constantly repeated to us was, "You take what you put into it." . This was a reminder of the honest hard work that is required for the field, and WCEMT instills that discipline in preparation for our futures. As for my personal experience with WCEMT in Redondo, I found the accelerated program to be perfect for me. It has the perfect balance of keeping you on your toes, a good amount of (healthy) stress, and the right environment for dedicated students who are ready to work hard. Our weeks were structured day by day and given to us the first day of class, so that we were all positive and sure of what we are getting ourselves into. If you make the decision to invest five weeks of your undivided attention, you are guaranteed to succeed! The cherry on top is the staff at Redondo. Heaven handled all of our paperwork, ride alongs, grades, and overall standing in the course. Andrew is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his students. With his many years of experience in the health field, he has many stories to share and plenty of wisdom about the life as an EMT. With block exams and quizzes in the same week, it often feels overwhelming. However, Andrew has many resources to help, including his fun Kahoot rounds!! read more

this was one of the worst mistakes in my live, I feel cheated, I Took 5 week course and Literaly they was very kind until receive my payment of 1000 dollars plus uniforms the I even receive on time And never gonna use again (200), plus a book for another 100 extra box, and then they don't care if you learn or not, they don't teach you at all. maybe the book is the only good purchase I did because is just from the book and study for myself the I learn something. we didn't learn anything on class, we just sit there for 8 hours with the "instructor" who just pass color slides all day long, and at the next day you have about 6 chapters test with a very specific questions the you never learn in class. after they receive your payment you are alone in the program, you learn Everything on your own. *After you take tests/exams they won't let you know what you missed..under no circumstances, so you won't know what you don't know until you are in real life situation. At least half or around (70%) of our class failed, no money back. They don't care to teach you and graduate you.. feels like they only want to take your money and forget about you right away, And if you ask for options to up your score or any help tu success in this process they said (Matt and Jeff) "you need to pay again the course and I give you 100 dollars discount"-they don't care about any student even with the fact the 70% of the class fail what is a clear alarm the something is not going well with their program, they don't care, just asking if you gonna pay again!. They are not focused on teaching you and helping you to become a true knowledgeable professional. They Are bad ! I wish people who failed before us put their reviews of how their program went so we didn't get in this mess like we did. Do not waste your time and money with this school. read more

I took the West Coast EMT program in April 2021. I debated between several programs within LA County and West Coast seemed like the right fit. I enrolled in the full time 5 week course. It was the most intense 5 weeks of my life! I do not come from a medical background so I was nervous going in. From day one the instructor, Jayson and campus manager, Heaven provided a supportive and encouraging environment that helped me ultimately succeed. Jayson would stay available during lunch and even stay late after class to help students review and understand difficult concepts. We were provided with so many resources from fun interactive jeopardy review sessions to detailed handouts explaining key points. Everyday we would begin with lecture and then after lunch would do skills practice. We had amazing skills instructors, Max, Joel, and Zion who went above and beyond to help make sure we perfected our skills. You complete two ambulance ride alongs during the course. I felt confident going on my ride alongs and performing vitals because I was given ample time to practice in class with the instructors. Every Wednesday we took a Block Quiz on what we had covered and every Thursday we had a Block Exam. The skills instructor Max and class instructor Jayson would stay after with us and go over the exam study guide. That really helped us out for the exams. All in all this program is amazing! It's hard but it truly gets you ready for NREMT and your career. I would say this class is harder then NREMT. Which I took and passed on the first try in person. I recently passed the full-time five-week course from West Coast EMT in Redondo, and I have to write my first Yelp review to express appreciation for the most challenging and rewarding educational experience I've had. Jayson, the indefatigable instructor, excels at fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment that balances rigorous academics with fun videos, interactive simulations, and group activities. In addition to his energy and enthusiasm as an instructor, Jayson draws on his years of experience in EMS to supplement his course material, bringing what could be rote learning to life in meaningful, relatable ways. Heaven, the campus administrator, keeps the program running like a well-oiled machine and contributes to the welcoming environment with a warm demeanor and sly humor. The dedicated group of skills instructors additionally go above and beyond to ensure every student does as well as they possibly can on both the written and practical exams. Covering a nearly 2,000 page textbook in five weeks is no easy feat, for either students or teacher. But fortunately the staff here not only does a superb job synthesizing and presenting all the material, they're willing to take their free time to make sure every student gets as much out as they're putting in. This is a difficult course by any standard, but as long as you're prepared to dedicate a month to fully immersing yourself in the material, it's hard to imagine a better launching pad for a career in EMS. read more

One of the best EMT courses out there. I completed the Tues/Thurs evening course from Jan 2022 to March 2022 at the Redondo Beach campus. I had to balance a full-time engineering job along with this evening course. I knew if I wanted to succeed, I had to stay engaged and ask questions. I believe anyone can pass this class if you're fully committed to it. This means reading and practicing. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to stay caught up. Redondo campus has some outstanding instructors. Andrew Frank lectured on Tuesdays. He spoke clearly and answered all questions stemming from his extensive experience as a Medic/Nurse. Manny Eskander lectured on Thursdays. He is a Pre-Med and EMT instructor. Both are highly knowledgeable and will teach you everything you need to know to succeed and be ready for the job. Andrew Frank had to lecture in Anaheim for the remaining weeks of our class due to staffing which allowed Manny to fill in the rest in Redondo. He simplified lectures and taught us to think critically during patient assessment situations. He is a future doctor and will be a very great one at that. You need to practice your hands-on psychomotor skills. Manny and skills instructor Angeliina did a great job teaching us the skills which ultimately lead to us succeeding in this course. I recommend taking the National Registry as soon as possible upon course completion. I passed the NREMT on my first try with plenty of time to spare. Thank you West Coast EMT! read more

The accelerated course is no joke. You will study a lot of material. The quizzes and Block tests are difficult, so be prepared to study and study and study. The great thing is that it is doable. When I took the course everyone in the class was looking out for one another and were ready to help each other succeed. The instructor Joel was 10/10. He has a ton of experience in the field and will help you succeed. DO NOT BE LATE. Tardiness and absences are very important. You will be dropped from the course if you are absent too many times. Be sure to be dressed in uniform every single day. Ask questions and ask frequently, do not be shy and make sure to not fall behind, because if you're taking the accelerated course you will need to bring your A game daily. The Torrance campus is very nice. Plenty of parking in the business park. About a 5 minute drive from the campus there's a very nice atrium that has very good food and coffee options for lunch. The campus does have a kitchen with a microwave, so you can also bring your own lunch. If you are thinking about an EMT course I highly recommend these guys. Just finished the full time course and passed the first try. The instructor (JN) was beyond helpful and compassionate towards anyone who was willing to try. He put in hours after class to spend more time with those who asked. He provides extra materials for students to use if we need a different or condensed version of the lecture material to prepare for the exams. Never did I felt unsure of who and how to ask for help. The skills instructors were also really helpful to help me prepare for the skills exam and understand exactly how the day of the exam will go so I was able to pass all of my skills on the first try. But they still kept me to the highest expectations to meet and go beyond the national level. They also answered any questions about what to do after the class in terms of careers and jobs. The other staff here were also amazing. I never had any issues with registration or any thing that dealt with paper work. She was also very fun and sweet. I loved taking with her for all topics regarding to the course or careers afterwards. Highly recommend this campus for anyone looking for a smooth process in getting your EMT license. read more

West Coast EMT Redondo Beach was a great choice for EMT training. I recently finished the Saturday 12 week course and I would highly recommend it if you have work, school, or other commitments during the week. They also have more condensed, full-time classes which are better for those with open schedules during the week. My instructor, Andrew Frank, was very knowledgeable with lots of first hand experience that he called on to give us practice scenarios of what you might see as an EMT and what to do in stressful situations. He highlighted the most important topics seen on the NREMT and in real life as well. If ever in need of extra help, Andrew was always willing to give his time and addition resources to help his students. The class was challenging, but with hard work inside and outside of the classroom, it will prepare you for the certification exams and for a career in EMS. On top of that, they set you up with two ride alongs to learn what it's like to work on an ambulance. West Coast EMT (Redondo Beach campus) is a wonderful place to enroll in an EMT course! I took the 5-week full-time course over the summer with instructor Jayson Nickle and thoroughly enjoyed it! This course prepared me to be an EMT by teaching textbook material through daily lectures and providing skills practice through hands-on learning; skills included CPR, oxygen tank preparation, use of a backboard, and several others. Plus, the preparation I received from this course helped me pass the NREMT exam on my first try! While this course is challenging, Jayson provides numerous resources to help students succeed, including devoting his own time to study sessions or one-on-one assistance after class. Jayson's personal experience as a paramedic also greatly adds to the course due to the experiences he shares with his students of his time in the field and his devotion to teaching additional skills that he knows are important for EMTs to know. I had Jayson as my instructor and I can honestly say that I have not had any teacher, regardless of subject, who is as devoted to his students, passionate, and knowledgeable. I already have some medical background so I honestly came into the class expecting to be bored but I could not have been more wrong. Jayson makes every day fun and interactive but also very educational. By combining his sense of humor with his vast knowledge of emergency medical services, he makes every day something I looked forwards to. Jayson also truly goes above and beyond for his students. Be it helping with concepts, answering emails promptly, or just being a friendly set of ears he truly cares for his students and wants them to succeed. I recently completed the West Coast EMT month long full time course at their Redondo Beach location. It was an excellent course and Jeff Kent is a phenomenal instructor. He not only cares about his students and will commit to helping them succeed, but he also has lots of experience and knows how to keep his students on track and in command of the large breadth of information they are tasked with learning. His former students' success rate speaks for itself, as you cannot find any of his students who didn't pass the NREMT exam on the first attempt. If you have little to no medical/life science background, the amount of information in an EMT course may seem daunting to you. But with Jeff as your instructor, there will never be an area you can't master, and he will always take the time to answer questions you may have. If you're considering doing an EMT course, West Coast EMT is the way to go, and I highly recommend doing it at the Redondo Campus. read more
