Ask the Community - West Coast EMT

Hello, I am trying to find information on accreditation. Is West Coast EMT accredited?…

We are BPPE accredited through California and local EMS approved in Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego counties. We are also approved through the National Registry of EMT’s since 2012. Hopefully this answered your question.

Do you offer options to retake final if failed for the first time?

No, if you fail the final, you retake the class. If you can get to the final, you can most likely pass the class (especially if you have a decent average).

I'm having a hard time finding out how to get the uniform. Do you guys sell them at your OC location?

Yes, textbooks and uniforms can be picked up at our Anaheim Campus weekdays from 8:00 - 5:00

Where would I be able to access the uniform?

What's the address in Redondo school?

Thank you for your question. At this time, our closest campus to downtown Los Angeles would be Redondo Beach.

Does the hybrid online course still require the uniform purchase?

    I think so

Hi, my name is jasmine and im going to be starting the full-time course soon and I was wondering if it is required to have your California state driver's license in order to be in the class?

Jasmine, It's not necessary to have a California State Drivers License, but we would need some…

How long does emt training take and how much does it cost?

Adeola, Thank you for your consideration. We offer 3 different course types, all with a tuition of…

Are goatees for facial hair allowed?

    Mustache only

As I do see the other question asking about getting a job after the course. I'm still curious any updated information on how easy it is to get a job after?

We have ambulance companies come to our campuses to talk about what they have to offer .ie pay, schedule, and benefits. They will walk you through the application process and interviews. The jobs are there however we have no control of how students…

How easy was it to get a job after finishing the program?

We have numerous ambulance companies that work with us and they hire our students.

Originally, I came here intending to leave an extremely negative review regarding my 18-month…read moreexperience at this school. However, instead of writing purely out of frustration, I want to highlight the areas that truly need improvement because the experience has been devastating, disappointing, and frustrating for many students. One of the biggest issues with this school is the lack of an open-door policy when it comes to student concerns, guidance, and resolution. Unfortunately, it often feels like it is "the school's way or the highway." Students frequently feel unheard, dismissed, and undermined, even when bringing forward serious and valid concerns. Another major issue is the constant policy and program changes. Cohort contracts are changed unexpectedly, resulting in students attending longer than originally anticipated. In addition, students are sometimes required to retest under circumstances that feel unjustified and poorly managed. For example, my cohort took our exit exam on May 8th, and many of us passed. Days later, we were informed that the exam had been invalidated due to vendor-related errors. Imagine the emotional distress and disappointment that caused after students had already worked tirelessly to succeed. Situations like this should be prevented through better oversight, communication, and coordination with testing vendors before exams are administered. The school also lacks empathy and flexibility when students face real-life challenges. Many of us have families, jobs, financial responsibilities, and personal hardships, yet accommodations are often discussed and later retracted. As a nursing school that teaches compassion and patient-centered care, it is disappointing to experience such little empathy and support toward students. To future students considering this program: understand that your concerns may not always be acknowledged, even when they are valid. Many students feel unsupported not only by the school administration, but also when attempting to escalate concerns externally. I will say there are some positives. The grading scale is fair, the online theory format can be convenient, and there are several excellent clinical instructors who genuinely care about student success. However, management, communication, consistency, and student advocacy need significant improvement. There are only a few theory instructors who truly stand out positively. Additionally, the heavy reliance on ATI and Capstone testing may work for some students, but not everyone learns the same way. Success cannot be measured solely through repetitive testing strategies. Many students succeed because of outside tutoring, independent study groups, determination, and personal discipline. Nursing schools should recognize that different learning styles require different approaches. Overall, my cohort experienced a significant amount of stress, inconsistency, and frustration throughout this process. I sincerely hope the school takes student feedback seriously moving forward, improves communication, and creates a more supportive environment for future students. #forevergroup46

A huge shoutout to our program director, Dr. Vu, who went above and beyond to make sure we were prepared for the NBCOT. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students' success and puts in the effort to guide and support everyone throughout the program. All of my professors also played a big role in my journey. Professor Estoque had this really warm, motherly/older sister kind of energy that made you feel supported and comfortable, especially during stressful times. Professor Hintay had a calm and steady presence that made the class feel grounded. She explained things clearly and helped break down more complex topics in a way that felt manageable. Dr. Lim was kind but pushed us to really understand the material on a deeper level, which made a big difference in our learning. Professor Oh was newer to the program, but you could really see the effort he put into improving and growing as an instructor. Professor Son was fun and funny but she also challenged us in a good way. She held us to a high standard, but it ultimately helped us become more confident and prepared. She took on both roles as our instructor and fieldwork coordinator, and she handled both incredibly well. She was organized, supportive, and played a big role in helping us transition into our clinical experiences. All the professors were knowledgeable, supportive, and always willing to help when things got tough. You can really feel that they want you to succeed, not just pass. One of the best parts of my experience was the friendships I made and the extra activities we got to be a part of. Whether it was volunteering or just participating in school events, those moments made everything more fun and created memories I'll always carry with me. Overall, I'm grateful for my experience at ACC. Going back to school was one of the best decisions I made, and I feel confident stepping into my career as a COTA because of the foundation I built here.

Out of all the instructors I have had, the one who has been the most helpful and supportive to me has been Miss G, our OB instructor. Miss G has been very hands-on and has always taken the time to answer my questions and help us whenever she could. She has prepared us well for going out into clinicals, and I know that if I ever need help or have a question, she is only an email away and is always quick to respond. I honestly would have loved for Miss G to be the one handing me my diploma because she has been more than just an instructor to me she has been a mentor. She is truly one of the best instructors I have had throughout this program. Miss Rich, the program director and also our physics instructor, is also a good teacher. I can honestly say that her teaching skills are very good, and she knows the material well. The only challenge is that she is extremely busy and has a lot on her plate, so sometimes emails may not get answered or may receive a response much later. Overall, I don't think the program itself is as bad as some people have made it seem. It is definitely fast-paced and can be overwhelming at times, but I think a lot depends on your experience with the instructors and the support you receive. If I were to rate the school, the main reason I would give it 4 stars is because of Miss G. She has genuinely made a difference in my experience in this program. I graduated from Concord 9'2022 and Mr.Roya was my clinical instructor. During our clinical rotations, Ms.Roya went above and beyond to make sure we had opportunities to learn and gain hands on experience in different clinical settings. She was always proactive in communicating with staff and facility personnel and worked hard to create learning opportunities for her students. When we were at a clinical site, she paid close attention to every detail and constantly made sure that we were following proper procudures and staying safe. It made me realize how much of an impact she had on my education and how much i still appreciate everything she taught us. Looking back, I was thinking that she was little too strict with us. But now that I have graduated and have been working in a hospital for the past 3 years, I understand why she was that way. Her attention to detail, high standards, and emphasis on safety helped prepare me for the reality of working as a nurse. I sincerely recommend Concord to anyone who is serious about becoming an LVN. And if Ms.Roya is still a clinical instructor here, you can expect to receive real hands on experience and an instructor who will genuinely go the extra mile to make sure you learn as much as possible. That unexpected encounter after all these years is actually what inspired me to finally write this review.

There were some details that turned me away, but it's too petty and ridiculous to post here at the moment. Although the classrooms looked cool, and I enjoyed the tour, there was this feeling like they were only after students' money and not their well-being. I guess I would have preferred speaking with one of the teachers, and not a counselor/advisor that doesn't quite have the expertise in the field. They have the limited X-ray license program for a year with morning/evening options. I forget the pricing, but I was told that many students choose this private schooling because of the community college waiting lists. Also, the presentation was extremely short and felt like it was cut short. Regardless, I would personally rather go through public education somewhere like Cypress, Mt. SAC, El Camino, LACC, etc.

However, there were significant issues with the training setup that ultimately led to an injury. Due to the room configuration, I was unable to properly reach the mannequins and had to perform CPR on my tiptoes. The table was not adjustable, and no stool or accommodation was available. As a result of these poor ergonomics and lack of proper setup, I sustained a neck and trapezius injury mid-cycle. Ended up having to literally crawl on to the table . At the time, I reached out simply to provide feedback in hopes of preventing a similar experience for others especially individuals under 5 feet tall. The initial response I received was apologetic, and I appreciated that. However, after enduring five weeks of significant pain, I followed up to ask about the appropriate process before seeking medical care, as providers often ask for details about how an injury occurred. Unfortunately, the response I received at that point was defensive and dismissive, referencing a signed waiver rather than addressing the concern. The response was unfortunate. I fully understand that CPR training can be physically demanding. However, participants should be provided with a safe and properly adjusted environment to perform these skills. In this case, the setup did not allow for that and contributed directly to my injury. As a side note, I happened to have the session recorded (originally intended for social media), and it clearly shows the moment the injury occurred. Overall, I'm very disappointed in both the lack of appropriate setup and the company's response. I am still dealing with daily neck pain without resolution.
