I was singing in my seat the entire time. The story line is great, real, and raw. I would not recommend bringing children or young teens here as there is talk of rape, drug use and sex. The actors and actresses had an amazing flow, and worked well together. It was as if they have been working together for years. Such chemistry that came alive on stage. My favorite was "Jo." She has such a powerful voice, it gave me chills. Her performance of "You Outta Know" was AMAZING, and during the performance I saw, she received a standing ovation from everyone in the theater. I still have chills from hearing her sing. This play was simply amazing, I'd see it again...and again.

I did have a bit of the stage display blocking my view, but it was not a problem. The show was 2 hours long with no intermission. There were parts we were all laughing so hard. My sister was on the verge of laughing and crying through most of it. The actors & actresses were wonderful. Most had 2+ roles as it was a 5 man show. Oh, and the music itself was great. I saw Toxic Avenger when the American Idol runner-up Diana DeGarmo played the role of Sarah, a blind librarian who falls for the show's namesake mutant superhero. Another person in the show who is a stand out is Nancy Opel. I got the ticket last minute during the 20at20 promotion period. It was the best $20 I spent on a show...as of yet. I knew nothing about the show when I decided to go. I was so surprised to love this show. I was feeling great after I left. Isn't that what you want from every show or musical you watch? I do.

However, Genie was the star of the show not Aladdin and Jasmine. Genie was funny and elevated excitement to the show. There were two songs, A Million Miles Away and A Whole New World that were sang together by Aladdin and Jasmine together but both songs were not harmonious or impressive. The seats were very small and the ushers let people in when shows were in progress.

Otsie showed up exactly on time and although he was supposed to perform for 1 hour, he stayed at least an extra 25 minutes. The kids were hysterical the entire time!!The parents loved him too. I have hired at least 10 entertainers for my three kids over the years and have attended countless birthday parties with clowns..... no one compares to Otsie. The kids also love his whimsical and non-scary appearance. He also performed at my daughter's Communion to a mixed age group and most recently at my youngest son's birthday. He's yet to disappoint!!!

My daughter especially looked forward to playing the theater games and participating in the improv exercises, which we were so fortunate to witness firsthand at the end of session showcase. She then worked in the next age group up with Andrew in the spring and had another great experience! After bouncing around to a number of theaters and acting programs on Long Island, we are so happy we found the Lawton Academy. Both Katie and Andrew have demonstrated a real vested interest in nurturing my daughter's love for the performing arts, and I am truly excited to see how she will continue to grow and develop under their guidance. I can't recommend the Lawton Academy highly enough.

They are in two different classes and Katie influenced my 6 year old so much. We find ourselves playing some of the games at home before bedtime. My 8 year old enjoyed working on remembering lines and performing with a partner he loved the friends he got to work with. My kids do a lot of activities but the only ones I didn't have to fight them to go to were Lawton's acting classes. Highly recommend

They should call it "Other Lady." This, my broken English friend, is true. The role of Amneris, daughter of the King, is so much meatier - for you Broadway folk - she gets a "Bitter Bitch Ballad" and it's fantastic. Congratulations Stephanie Blythe, you were a star. During the second intermission, I heard someone complain that there were no elephants in the second act. Look, times are tough and everyone is making cuts. There were still plenty of horses and a ginormous cast. And so I take this opportunity, fellow Yelpers, to introduce you to opera. Perhaps some of you already go. But. in case you haven't: Myself, I like the nosebleed seats. I am a Family Circle girl. (though I do tend to go alone) They level the opera playing field. Try them. I have never been sorry that I went. I have never fallen asleep. I have been on the edge of my seat, mesmerized, amazed at the skills these people bring to the stage, the creativity of the set directors, the costumes and the ability of the composers to tell these magical stories through song. It is, truly a breathtaking experience. Think of Julia Roberts (hooker with a heart of gold - Pretty Woman) - she cried! Helpful Hints: take these serious, yo. No, you do not have to wear a tux or ball gown. Unless you are attending the premiere. In which case, you are not reading this. But for heaven's sake, please, make an effort! No jeans! No sneakers! No hats! (unless they are unobtrusive Facinators). Look like a grown up on a grown up night out. A fun thing to do is read the synopsis of the first few acts if you're not familiar with the work, but not the last two. Seriously - surprise yourself! Ladies: wear clapping jewelry. Look, I wish someone would remind me of this. Large rings and bangles hurt. You are expected to clap. A lot. Wear layers, but not bulky ones. There is a coat check, but do you want to be there at the end of the night? You're gonna have to sit with your shit, so don't bring a lot. Bringing us to the most important: Eat before you go and drink nothing. Yeah, it's a long show. 3-6 hours, depending on the show. Eat protein and whole grains before you go and don't drink for at least a few hours before show time. You are gonna have so many places to go and soooo much to talk about afterward. Trust me, your American bladder can stand some dehydration. Take Altoids as provisions. Everyone will appreciate this. And lastly: BRING SOME TISSUES! I'm not suggesting that your gonna Pretty Woman all over the place, but you'll need a place to put your snot. Cause it's winter, and we all have some. Wait - no - this is my lastly: WAIT UNTIL GROUP SINGING OR APPLAUSE TO HOCK THAT LUGEY! And now, you, my friend, are ready for the opera. Enjoy, and maybe the Met will be able to afford some elephants.
