I was a patient here for several years as a child and teen. I had braces for years, followed by Invisalign, but my smile was never properly fixed. One tooth is still crooked, and my midline is completely off. My front teeth aren't centered at all, which makes my smile look awkward. This is an Invisalign mill. The Orthodontist hardly does anything. He has his assistants do all the work and he collects the paychecks. Bring your child in and don't be surprised when he recommends Invisalign. The man is on cruise control with his business model regardless of the situation. My daughter had Invisalign for 9 months, they stopped fitting before the final month. When we brought her in to check why and he couldn't get them to fit, he said congratulations you are done! He didn't take any measurements, nothing. Clearly the intended results were not achieved, but he chose not to be ethical. We brought her to another orthodontist who took measurements and x rays. She highly recommended expanders and braces and showed us in detail why. When we told her we had already gone through treatment with Grant, she said she was sorry we went through that and that she has had numerous clients with failed results from that guy. I agree with the other review that he is arrogant and indifferent. What does he care, he collects the cash and what are the consequences of failure, receiving a bad yelp review? A picture tells all. If you want your children's front teeth off center like the picture attached, Grant is the right orthodontist for you.  Our story is like many other frustrated parents.  After several years of phase 1&2, half a year ago, we were informed that our son's treatment was almost over. However, my son found the front teeth top row off-center. When I brought this up during the next appointment, Dr Grant insisted that the top row was in the center. My husband and I printed out a picture of my son, and drew a line down the middle. We showed him, he agreed with us, and started to fix the problem. Half a year later, not much improvement, and he is going back and still wants to convince us that it's in the center. He told us to look from the top and said that some people naturally have off-center midlines.  I had no choice, but to firmly tell him to fix the problem. Two years ago, my son's midline was centered, and now it is not. He got so angry, pointed his finger at me and said I was rude. What is even more infuriating is that he told me to get out of his place and never come back in front of my two children. I left and waited in the lobby, while my 9th-grade son finished getting his new wires. Later, I found out that he told my son that his mom is rude and that he doesn't want to shift the midline. Stay away from this extremely rude and shameless orthodontist. Not to mention the inconvenient times if you prefer to have an appointment after-school. 2 years ago, my wife and I decided to invest in my daughter's smile. Unfortunately for my kids, they inherited my gene of not having teeth come out straight. We were referred to Braces by Grant by our dentist and hoped our financial investment would pay off. Braces by Grant has two locations. One in 4S, which is our primary location, and the other one is in Carmel Valley. Both locations are decorated with class and give off a welcoming vibe. The 4S location provides video game consoles that kids can play with and a large screen television showing kid friendly movies. The front office staff, the dental staff, and Dr. Grant were always friendly and genuinely cared how my kids were doing. Both offices have free WiFi, but the WiFi needs to be serviced because it was rare for me to get quality reception. Besides the WiFi, Dr. Grant needs a better or up-to-date magazine collection for parents who choose to wait while their kids are being treated. Normally, the opportunity areas I mentioned would warrant dropping the review to 4 stars, but the main goal of my daughter being seen by Dr. Grant was for her to have straight teeth. Dr. Grant accomplished that impressively. When my daughter started, she had the Dracula look going on with fangs coming from the top of her gums. She was reluctant to show off her pearly whites and was conscious about her teeth. Dr. Grant is professional and knows what he's doing. Once my daughter's braces came off, I was amazed at how well the braces worked on my daughter. Before these braces came off, my daughter was beautiful already. With her now straight teeth and toothy smile, my daughter is drop dead gorgeous. I'd like to thank Dr. Grant for his outstanding handiwork. Placing braces on your kid can be a financial burden and is truly an investment. Seeing the results of this investment, I can unequivocally say that it was well worth it. read more

I am really surprised by the 4.3 star rating associated with Braces by Grant. He is arrogant, rude and doesn't care if the job is done correctly. He drained the orthodontics insurance money and said the rest is out of pocket. He highly recommended Invisalign to our daughter who clearly needed braces. She had a 10mm overbite, which is considered to be severe. Based on Grants recommendation, we proceeded with the first phase; the expansion of the top teeth and then 37 weeks of Invisalign. After 34 weeks, our daughter could no longer push the Invisalign on to her teeth and Grant said she had successfully finished the first phase. There was no change from the first time she came in to his office to the time she "Successfully finished phase one". Poor quality medical care. Doesn't stand behind his own work and makes poor unethical recommendations. Read the bad reviews. They are all accurate. We want our money back. read more

My son started with Dr Grant actually during a visit for his older sister in a causal conversation where I mentioned a concern I had about how his teeth were coming in and his bite. He did an exam on the spot and got him set up for treatment which really saved us because had we not addressed when we did there could have been long term problems with his lower gums pulling away from his bottom teeth. After 6 years of wearing his braces, my son and I were so excited to get his braces off today....UNTIL...After a few hours and dollars and lots of weekly visits over the last 6 years, I knew there was a small balance that my ex husband owed for his portion of the bill. My son mentioned to me that he was made to feel uncomfortable about it when he went on his own, so uncalled beforehand and gave them my ex husbands address and phone number and cleared up that his balance would not impact this appointment. However, upon arrival, I was immediately told-in front of everyone in the waiting room but worse---in front of my son that They would go after me for my husbands portion since insurance is in my name regardless of the arrangement they set up. Keep in mind this is contrary to my recollection of what was set up in writing by us both where we signed several documents. Also, of course she said it with a smile on her face, not realizing what she had just done?? Violating my privacy and shaming us publicly for something I tried to mitigate. Giving me completely contrary information that I had already been given. Besides upsetting my son and myself for the public discussion, she made an exciting day turn sour. This is just not acceptable no matter what the scenario-have a private phone call or write a letter. After countless appointments and visits to this Dr., I am having regrets which is unfortunate as I think Dr Grant (5 stars) and his technicians are great. Beware of Victoria at the front desk in Carmel Valley. Victoria gets (-5). We got the balance was take care of before we left but my so is still embarrassed and upset and I'm not feeling good about how she handled it. read more

Review long time coming........The office up here is a better move for Dr. Grant, just was out of our way. Old office was in national city... new office Carmel mountain. So it did take us a bit longer to get the braces off. Missing appointments, school not allowing kids to leave for orthodontic appointments, etc. - Dr. Grant's office never charged us for going over on our plan. It does say that on ALL contracts for braces. If the treatment goes over because you miss appointments, they can charge you BEWARE. (even his says it). HE NEVER DID CHARGE US EXTRA! The staff here is very nice and genuine. Dr. Grant is THE BEST. My dentist Dr. Tran referred me to him and he trusts him. HE was RIGHT. He is kind considerate. Even when I got behind in payments , they never mistreated me or refused our treatments. I don't like to share that but I do want other people to know that he is REAL great person. In considering getting braces put on, make sure you are careful who you want to see every month for the next three years. DON'T go on price alone. Coming from Overseas, I was extremely nervous to continue care with a practitioner whom I did not know. May family was new to the area and quite frankly didn't really know anyone well enough to ask about their dental care. So I set out on the internet to find a dentist to help my children with their oral hygiene until adulthood and an orthodontist to help correct any imperfections that my family may have or will soon develop. I came across many websites and looked through their webpages thoroughly, but it wasn't until I came across Carmel Valley Pediatric Dentistry that I stopped and knew immediately that this was different. There I saw Dr. Pham (Dentist) and Dr. Grant (Orthodontist). It was a one-stop shop for my family. On almost every page on this website you see smiles, genuine smiles, everywhere. They are not just of what I suspect are the patients, but the staff as well. It wasn't a bunch of gimmicky ads, promotional materials or coupons offering the weekly special. This dentistry teams website was something that I did not see on the other dentistry webpages and it prompted me to call to make arrangements for an appointment. When I called the office, I explained my situation of being a military family, overseas, and our dental work was in another country. I was assured that they have seen military families before some of which have come from another country; I felt immediately at ease. I was asked a few questions about my insurance provider and I believe in less than 5 minutes my appointments for my 3 kids were soon scheduled. I must write that for my family it was a bit of a drive since we live close to the San Diego Navy base, but it wasn't too far and well worth it. The office was nice and clean, there was a movie playing for the kids while they waited for their turn to be called, and the staff greeted all of us as we arrived. We were waiting probably 5-7 minutes and then the kids were called back into the rooms. Dental assistants worked with all three of my kids at the same time, while they laid back and watched movies on the ceiling! I found out that the care my children had been receiving overseas was ok, but not really up to standards and I felt misled by their past dentist. I sson found out that my children needed some work for cavities and teeth grinding. The staff that was hired must really love children and have a way with them because my kids did not feel scared, intimidated, or pressured about returning. They felt confident and enthused to visit again. When we returned, my kids eagerly went back to the rooms and couldn't wait to get treatment on their teeth. Both, Dr. Pham and Dr. Grant were extremely nice, courteous, and my kids really like them. At another appointment just for orthodontics, I had all three of my children examined and I explained some of my concerns. Mainly, I wanted to make certain that my children were getting top notch care. Dr. Grant noticed right off the bat some concerns that I had about my childrens teeth- but I did not fully express them. He knew my concerns before I even said anything and showed me that with corrective care and treatment my current child with braces will have a wonderful smile. My middle child needed braces to correct his gap, while my youngest (7 years old) needed assistance to stop his thumb sucking. Dr. Grant informed me that my youngest will most likely need braces due to the positing of his teeth, but he will make that assessment at a little time. I was given a choice of different options available for appliances and found out that Dr. Grant can also take care of adults as well. My children got their appliances on their teeth while they watched movies and they did not complain one bit. They are excited to choose different colors for their braces. My daughter was very excited to get a rainbow on her braces as she has wanted that for 2 years and was never able to get it. My son, thought the braces would make him look ugly and it wasn't "cool" to wear them, however, it did not take long for the staff to make him feel comfortable and boost his confidence level. He left the office with pride and smiles more with his braces on than ever before. Overall, Dr Grant and Dr. Pham have one of the best dentistry teams I have ever seen, bar none! Going from state to state and even in different countries, I can honestly write that we are very pleased with the services given to my family. Prices are affordable with payment plans available. The staff is kind, caring, and sends reminders. I even got a birthday greeting from the team! My children were invited to partake in a party thrown by Dr. Grant which is coming up soon and the kids are excited. They either intensionally put it on the webpage to scoop up a large pool of potential patients, or don't care to correct and prevent it from misleading those above age 18. I was lead to this page by searching braces for adult. The page looks cool, so I called to schedule a first visit and consultation. I told them my age, got the appointment, waited 3 weeks, got the reminder of and confirmed my appointment, told my boss I will be off work early for my appointment. Then, out of the blue, they called and informed me, a few hours before my appointment, that they don't treat people above age 18, and blamed it on a "new front desk," who does not know what's going on with the Dr.'s practice. Dr.Grant did my orthodontia for about a year and a half. Actually correction his nurses did my orthodontia Dr. Grant barely does anything. I came with a cross bite (which he improved with an expander and braces) and left with an overbite. I developed an overbite because he overset the thing aligning my bite. During my final months of braces we were fine tuning and trying to get 2 particular teeth to move he assures me he could fix it with a retainer. DID NOT WORK AT ALL! My mom is an infection control nurse and let me tell you Dr. Grant does not follow these protocols. He rarely washes his hands. Don't let his "nice guy" appearance fool you this guy is a horrible orthodontist. In order to fix my new bite problem I'm going to Dr. Keifer. I hope this helps read more

I have gone to this orthodontist for some time now and am very happy with my progress. He is the most pleasant, even tempered professional i have had the pleasure to work with....I even referred my husband to him who agrees with my assessment. He seems extremely competent and knowledgeable and has great staff. All of them seem unusually professional, competent and pleasant to interact with. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any age group for orthodontic needs (I am a middle aged adult as is my husband but I do see primarily kids there.) But it doesn't matter. There also seems to be another children's dentist in the group, I'm not sure if he's part of the same practice or how that fits in to the organization but it's of no moment really...they seem to share waiting room space and the ladies at the counter (who are beyond friendly) work side by side...one handles the dentist side (there is a different door for dentist patients off the waiting room) and the other handles Dr. Grant's orthodontist patients though they all are helpful and seem able to fill in as needed if one is gone from her desk. Our 1st of 3 children had braces put on by Braces by Grant in March 2016. As our first experience with braces we have to say it went well. The staff overall was great. There was only one incident where we may have gotten someone that was new to adjustments and we had to go back in because the wires weren't secure and popped off.
